It's very sad that in 2017, our police force is still about the most ill-equipped in the world. A Kalashnikov rifle is obviously not the best weapon for him in this kind of scenario, esp when he was making a retreat (which was not the best option, he should have remained under cover). It's difficult to hold a rifle of that size and weight while taking aim during retreat. An automatic pistol might just have been better for him.

his bullet wasnt finished. he kept firing as he ran. he had plenty ammo

As an experience police officer u dont stay inside the banking premises or in the security post instead u hang around with ur gun hiding beside u especially if there is a restaurant or bar around d bank and observe everything going on from your angle.
You no why? Bcus it will enable u be the first to attack your enemies wen ever they come around.
It will also allowed u to call for help with immediate alacrity, also u are in a safer position which will enable u to escape n save ur life.

The man died that same day at FMC and not two months later, and he has since being buried. He has a wife and family too.

You mean there were two other police men inside the security post? OP fear God naaa. Were they sleeping while all these were happening? Even when the guys drove off, nothing came out of that post.

A Nigerian Police Force personnel of eastern extract was killed in active service in owerri, without a traceable address (and most likely without a family member)?

We know more about the bank robbers but know absolutely nothing about a heroic police officer.

when he was in that room anyone who walks up to the room is at a disadvantage as you saw when the robber walked up to the room and got shot and killed by him.

He knows better. Don't forget that what he did helped the police in arresting the man in native and one other gang member as their phones were tracked through the dead robber's phone.

Even their man involved, they are saying he was @ the intensive care for 2mths and they could not get his force number to find his info or family even though he couldn't talk thru his stay at the intensive care,nothing to trace am u cum say make dem trace thief wen dem just see him face for camera,anyway I know dem go don arrest plenty innocentee unto that self wen dem cannot even trace their own pesin @ intensive care

The robbers were not professional armed robbers from the look of things. Obviously they are amateurs in handling of fire arms and strategic planning .This video clip should serve as a lesson to financial institutions. There are lots to learn from it regarding security. Policemen attached to banks should be positioned where no one sees them. The mopol who fired back was not tactical. He could have remained in that security room because he had better advantage and cover there than coming out to run away knowing fully well he had no back up to cover him...RIP though!!!!!

Before saying rubbish, the gallant men of the force as captured them all, idoit people always trying to rubbish the force can you protect yourself

After watching that video, I had a rethink on jungle justice for armed robbers. Kill them when caught.

he could have saved his own life and they would still be able to track the others through the dead robbers phone because he was still in that room when he killed the dead robber. so the point you make is kinda dead on arrival but i see what the logic is which is , look at the good in any bad situation. i wouda preferred if he had preserved his own life though. but eh, GOD knows best

I watched this video last night and was saddened.

To LEO's on the forum, this is a good training video.

It shows a detail that was too casual and not at alert. Why were all three armed LEOs sitting inside and trapped in the security post? One or two preferably should always be outside, visible and patrolling.

But it's elating to see one of the robbers claim a head shot that severed his spinal chord. A very nice shot coming from an archaic and unreliable rifle, you lot should invest in pistols but not sure if you can procure your own firearm.

That room has no other exit, all hell would have been let loose on that room. The robbers would have finished every living and non living thing in there, because he had killed one of their own.
