i understand. but you are also down-playing the implications of letting the world operate on this mentality as its default thinking.

i as man wont be very happy if someone insinuated that i am a potential threat to any child around. i would feel really embarrassed if anyone implies that either by action or words. i would attack anyone who does that.

yesterday, when i was returning home, i stopes by a newspapper stand to look at the headlines of the dailies like many people do. a lady was standing infront of me and i was trying to look over her shoulders just to be able to see the pappers on the table.

immediately, she just threw her elbow backwards and struck me in the belly. i was shocked and confused at first, then she said i was trying steal or touch her (i really cannot say which one it is anymore).

but put yourself in my shoes. how would you feel if you were the one? to just insinuate that i am an abuser even when that was far from my mind? how would you react? appologize?

i had to 'return' it back to the old woman because i couldnt bear such embarrassment and stereotype. guess what, when i started boiling, she mellowed down and stoped accuasations. if i had not done that, the people around would juat conclude i did it. and the next time anyone of them see me anywhere, they would begin to 'hold' themselves.

if you tell me i ahouldnt blame them because such things happen, then i would tell you cannot make me a victim of someone elses behaviour especially when i do not and cannot influence what other people do.

it is important we do not make that insecurity, our default behaviour towards the male gender. the implications are way too many. ranging from exclusion of men from the lives of our children, increased likelyhood to be wrongly accused and your reputation distroyed beyond repair, to teaching men and making boys hate the fact that they are men. and this is where i blame feminism for the whole thing.

down-playing the role feminism is playing in siezing on the occations of issues like this to achieve their misadrist goals, would do us no good.

do you know there are men studying pedagogy, guidiance and counselling and primary education studies? what would we be doing to the career prospect of these individials as well as many male parents if we allow the stereotype to become the default behaviour of the society towards the man?

What sort of insensitive post is this? You think it is some sort of trivial incident that cheap grammar could be used to conceal. The owner of the school should be made to account for her inaction and irresponsibility.

We must standup and fight for that voiceless girl whose very own father sold for a few naira notes. There are tens of her type around us. We must all join our hands to protect the girl child. That you alluded that the action of lawyer amounted to ' taking it out on the proprietress' is most disappointing to say the least. Had she been your daughter I doubt that this will be you stance. Ensuring proper therapy for the child should not in any way disrupt the process of bringing all culprits to book on this matter. Every child is everyone's and deserve our utmost care and protection.

No it's not it really annoying and alot of times I use to wonder if the guys that do those things have any sense or home training. No matter how disgusting a matter is somebody who should at least have the general child sense even if he no go school will turn it to tribal issue and now we seem not to be better than our fathers in the 80s and 90s who would insult themselves with things like of ofem manu, roroba, ajokuta mamumi, berebe, and the likes infact they are better based on the meaning atleast.
