We missed Mikel Obi today and our defensive midfield was too disorganized. It is a mistake blaming the defence because they were all over the place. We lost shape, especially in the second half and we paid dearly for it.

Awaziem and Ekong did their very best. They made loads of interceptions and won the ball repeatedly. With the wide gap in the midfield, we were going to pay for it with time and it happened.

I hope this is the last we see of Akpeyi. His footwork is delightful but his goal keeping skills is awful. He has no command of the eighteen yard box and the idea of him not training with the defence is atrocious. How will he have understanding with his team mates if he trains separately from them.

My biggest fear today was us paying for our decision of playing a weaker goal keeper due to his experience a devoted we paid dearly for it. No disrespect to Akpeyi but he is not just up to it.

That would've made sense if we had someone who could dictate play from deep. Unfortunately neither Onazi or Ndidi can do that. Ogu should've started with Mikel not around. Rohr should've taken a risk and started Onyekuru.

those blaming Ndidi are oblivious as to how a two man dmf system works. I noticed it when Chelsea played this season, once they concede you will see Luiz talking to Matic and never to Kante because Kante is the roaming dmf, he has no business with sitting deep except when under pressure, once the pressure let's up a little he bombs forward and leaves the space for Matic. that was what we tried to replicate in this match with Ndidi playing the Kante role and he did it well, above average in fact but Onazi is no Matic, work rate he has that well enough but awareness, passing accuracy and the rest he has none. people see him running around and start shouting but he isn't actually doing his job, if he must play then Ndidi should not play and a player like Ogu will sit deep and he will also have a creative player like Mikel or Iwobi ahead of him so that all he needs to do is win back possession and drop the ball. this is basic coaching stuff

So it's better we realise where we are instead of being delusional. Friendlies are indicative and not conclusive about progression.

Where did we go wrong

Before this match I asked the question is this team the best collection of players available to Nigeria certainly not.

Now possibly they will give Rohr the free hand to invite the best players. If Enyeama was in post we would not have conceded any of those goals. He would have screamed instructions to the last defender to open his eyes and stop ball watching.

Enyeama was in Uyo and nobody could say let's call him in. Unnecessary bad belle politics in the NFF.

You don't just sit by and watch a team you are passionate about combust. If he approaches them and they say no, then by all means, I will take up Enyeama's fight too.

Two people cannot be hot tempered and make leeway, one person has to be ready to calm down and it will not always be the erring party.
