I went for the GreenSpring Graduate Trainnee aptitude test on Saturday. The events that took place in Anthony Campus also occurred in Lekki Campus. We were told that 100 people were selected for the test and 30 would be chosen for the interview. Then they would select 14 people for the program. 14 people from each campus

50k would be paid monthly from November to July 2016 when the Program would come to an end. At the end of the program one would get a certificate from Cambridge. If you are retained you would go for the next Diploma training which would also be certified by Cambridge University.

The exams where in two sections. The first was in English which had to do with punctuations and the other an essay. The other section was the Psychometric Test which was in three Sections; Spatial Arrangement, Verbal Reasoning and Numerical aspect.
Goog old days of feedbacks

I have been a member of this thread for some time now and have observed the trends, comics, job ads, relief and a few intellectual advice.

Teachers are the moulders of "our" future.

Observation:

1. Golden Dr., is an extra-ordinary person in the sense that he started this thread and has kept it going for almost a year despite challenges(because he was off the thread for sometime) . He offered to some very useful tips, words of advice,words of encouragement and how to go about the teaching interviews(Prof. Gday is also a member).

Some others later joined such as Pastordoalone, Ninilowo, DoveQueen ( they have since disappeared), givemejoy, artisticallyart, Prof Gday, not forgetting our own xtfield, manie, avicky and a few others.

2. Feedback is necessary in everything and anything we do. it determines decision making process , which could make it delayed or faster for individuals or corporate organisation. Many find it difficult to do this. Thanks to the fellow who posted pictures of a school and dilapidated structures and advertised it was a "reputable" school.... That is feedback. Most persons knew the next step to follow.

3.Some persons are just unfair, even after going through pages of newspapers for job ads, they find it difficult to share.... that to me is wickedness and heartlessness, YES!!! because the job maybe far away from you and someone could be close to where the job is.

4. Some that are far away from the "action" (where the jobs are concentrated) should do as the experts on this thread have suggested.

5. Typographical error should be discouraged for a teacher or would-be teacher on this thread (mediocrity should be discouraged) grammatical constructions and punctautions such as full stop, commas e.t.c are VERY important.

Suggestions:
it is good we have a forum like this and a thread solely for the teachers.

1. Feedback cannot be over- emphasized. Please do give feedback when necessary.

2. When you see a job ad that you know you are far from it, please post it.

3. It would not be a bad idea if we have individuals from say Gombe, Bayelsa, Zaria and the likes dropping teaching jobs in that region.

4. If each one can reach one, each one can teach one- Charles 'B'.

5. it would not be a bad idea if we know the salary range of schools within "specific" locations within a region like Lekki, Ajah, Badore, Ikorodu, Festac, Orile, Ringroad, Sabon geri,Ugbowo, Dugbe, Kubuwa, Kabba e.t.c by doing,it will save us a lot.

6. Ensure you read, re-read and read you post before posting, for crying out loud there is the modify button.

Thank you.
Copied.

Let us not call a spade a spatulous object for abrading the surface of the earth. Let us simply call it what it is; A spade. That people snap up job vacancies here without giving feedbacks after attending such interviews is the height of insensitivity. Funny enough, this lackadaisical attitude of 'No feed back' is becoming contagious; As some of us who were of the habit of always giving feed backs have refrained from doing so.

I've been observing this trend for quite some time, and honestly it's worrisome. Out there, people request for cash, recharge cards, and even s*X to connect unemployed people with their prospective employers. Here, we only request for feedback and nothing else.

The last job I posted here recently was actually offered to me by a friend, but I told him I would pass it because I'm presently occupied with some stuff. Sadly, no one has come hear to give feedbacks. And I'm sure they would have gone for the school's interview. Such ungrateful attitude!

Let this be an appeal to all those whose habit it has become to always snap jobs from here without giving feedbacks in return. You should know for sure that you're being ungrateful. A word they say.....

Meanwhile, is there anyone here that got the invite from Thomas Adewunmi College, Omu-aran, Kwara state. Of all the invites I've been receiving lately, this particular one seems tempting. Already, I've scheduled my interview with them on Sat July 4th. If there's anyone who got their invite, please open up so that we can share ideas. Funny enough, I already have interviews slated on July 2nd @ St. John Paul's Sch Ikoyi, July 3rd @ St. Jude Private Sch Festac, and now this one on July 4th.

It's really the opening of the teachers' transfer window (as football lovers commonly call it). It's gonna be busy henceforth, but without regular feedbacks, I guess it's going to be a boring thread. Peeps! Let's keep this thread rolling with feedbacks.

P.S: Please, whenever you're to mention me, kindly put my moniker. Else, it might take time before I stumble upon that 'Visiting Prof' title up there. Moreso, that 'Visiting Prof' is just an honourary title and could be withdrawn upon the whim of the conferrer. Lolz!

This is a follow up to a post above as regards salaries of teachers in "specific location".

Negotiation is key to getting the needed salary, although preference is given to B.Ed & B.sc ed. graduates because that is their terrain. More often that not, they are paid the same with other degree holders. A "few"schools pay them a little above other degree holders.

P.S. Schools that are starting CANNOT pay you the needed salary. Some would increase your salary as the number of pupils increases, though there are exceptions especially for schools in highbrow areas and A'level or sixth form schools.

1. Ikorodu-Bayoku, Idiroko, Ajegunle, Igbogbo e.tc, some schools in Surulere 15k-22k (Likewise in Uwelu, Barrack and after the Airforce barracks in Benin, Edo State).

2. Bariga- Somolu & Bajulaye 28-30k depending on your qualifications;

3. Festac, Mile 2 & Apapa- 45-75k depending on your qualifications, PDGE inclusive;

4. Lekki-80k- 160k depending on your experiences, professional certifications and qualifications, Nursery and primary 40-60k(source: luffskidz);

5. Gbagada-60k depending on qualifications, experience; (oluemmakay could be reached for details).

6. Anthony- 70k depending on the school and location experience counts a lot plus professional qualifications;

7. Akute-Ajuwon Axis- 35-45k depending on the location, qualification and experience. Most of them usually have high turnover of teacher.... that leaves much to be desire (visit some post on pages 1-23).

8. Ipaja- 35-50k depending on location, qualification and experience... some are ready to give you accommodation. Based on information gathered on this thread, they would want applicants living in that axis.

9. Ayobo along Redemption camp-18k-28k (Not all schools in that location would pay such salary. Just a handful are willing to provide accommodation).

10. Jabi (Abuja), Maraba, Nyanya 25-45k- it depends on the school & location.

11. Ekiti depending on the school- 20k, some 35-45 depending on qualifications. Accommodation is provided for some schools.

12. Ile-ife- 60-75- OAU International school and Alex Henry Duduyemi International school source -Prof-gday. Accommodation is given in certain school for experience hire.

13. Kwara-13k schools around Ansaru-deen, tanke, Taiwo, post office 25-30k;

14. Zaria- 20k upwards

15. Ondo - depends on the curriculum, if it is A sixth form 80-150 with accommodation provided you have the perquisite qualifications.

16. Ogbomoso- details are still sketchy

17. Ogun- Mowe, Ofada, Lambe, Matugun, Ijoko, Are-po

It depends on the school, curriculum, qualifications and experience.
In Abeokuta, there are A-level schools that pay well such as Daywaterman e.t.c other Nigeria curriculum schools to the best of my knowledge 60k.

18. Onitsha- 12-20k depending on school, qualifications ( from Information gathered, irrespective of qualifications in some quarters, they cannot pay above 40k).

19. Bayelsa- In Bayelsa, Belary Schools, Ayakpo Schools, Faith Comprehensive Sec. school (FACISS), Winners Academy(Not owned by Winners church o), Bieodomo Schools, Divine Comprehensive, New Total Child Academy and Benny Schools are the "Big ones" (though some other schools are springing up and giving the aforementioned schools a good run for their resources). so
Belary = 30,000 entry level may rise to 40 0r 45 but not above 45 plus Accommodation for few staff.
Ayakpo = same as Belary but with little/no accommodation.
FACISS = 30000 Entry level but can pay up to 60000
Winners = Negotiable entry but more rules as it regards dress style.
Bieodomo Schools = 35000 (but no holidays even in August else be ready to lose the month's salary)
Divine Comprehensive = 30,000 and may hit 60,000 depending on your impact.
New Total Child Academy = same as Divine Comprehensive
Benny Schools = Negotiable entry salary but not below 25000.

With this, you should be guided on what smaller schools pay.The Minimum here in Bayelsa is 5000 (for WAEC holders teaching in private primary schools)

Feel free to ask questions or add if you are also in Bayelsa.Source: makozona

20. Porthacourt- information from reliable source gathered from their thread and Morrygreat corroborating the said information. 25-30k. They also have the A-level schools that pay as high as 70k.

21. Ejigbo- 35-50k, power of negotiation is important and experience.

Caleb schools- 70-100k
Redeemers schools -90-150k
Chrisland- 80-120k
British international- 150k
Turkish international- 145k
American international 200k
Pampers- 95k

I also sympathize with school owners because they spend a lot, the reason they set up the business is to provide services at acceptable profit and reduce cost to the bear est minimum.

WARNING: The above should not be relied upon totally. You can either bargain below or above the stated figures above. I STRONGLY advice you do your findings so as to ascertain what is obtainable in the location above.
Thanks so much
The schools you mentioned like Caleb schools-
Redeemers schools -
Chrisland-
British international-
Turkish international-
American international
Pampers, do they offer accommodation?
I really need to to know cos am staying around Abule Egba axis and it would be stressful coming from my house
Thanks

Yes ,it was in my school where I did my first degree
During clearance we were told to pay 10k for TRCN .So after payment, I filled the forms and after some months I got my certificate.
NB: I think it's because we were in the Faculty of Education that's why it was easier for us

About Our Lady of Apostles Secondary School Yaba

Our Lady of Apostles Private School, Yaba was established in January 1950 by Rev. Sr. Scholastica McAndrew of the Missionary Sisters of Our Lady of Apostles. The School was founded in response to the insistent request of parents, many new to Lagos, who wanted their children taught through the medium of English.

Originally, the present site had been acquired and developed by the Catholic Mission for St. Agnes Teacher Training College in 1933. In 1949, St. Agnes Teacher Training College was transferred to a new site, off Ikorodu, the present day “Maryland”. Meanwhile, St. Agnes as a description remained, and is even retained within the vicinity and precinct as the present St. Agnes Bus stop just before the present day St. Dominic’s Catholic Church premises, Yaba (itself having been known as St. Patrick’s). Sr. Liam and Sr. Benignus succeeded Sr. Scholastica McAndrew in 1956, while in 1969, Mrs Osugo Helen was appointed headmistress. Sr. Mary Martin Healey was made supervisor in 1973. In 1991, Sr. Gladys Chikere succeeded her while Mrs. Okobi was transferred from St. Mary’s Broad Street to become the headmistress. Sr. Maura Hayes took over in October 1994. Sr. Monica Onwunali became the supervisor in July 1999 and she handed over to Sr. Lucy Otusanya in 2002. Sr. Beatrice Okoye assumed office in January 2008 and was succeeded by the current supervisor, Sr. Valentina Adeyemo in September 2011.

Since inception, the school has continued to flourish and expand in response to the local demand. For the past sixty-two (62) years, the school has been a stepping stone and has continued to produce reputable men and women in the different spheres of life in the society. The school have dedicated and enthusiastic staff to her credit. Our Lady of Apostles Private School, Yaba is known for her moral and academic excellence which we still maintain through the thick and thin of the educational system.

His Eminence Anthony Cardinal Okojie, Archbishop Emeritus of Lagos, the former school Proprietor was ever supportive, ensuring at every point that the school maintains the standard it is known for. With our motto “watch and Pray”, the sky is our limit.
