Ango Abdullahi talked about revenue after independence and before the discovery of crude oil in commercial quantity and not at amalgamation in 1914.

Oil was discovered in 1956 before independence, so that notion still falls flat on its face. The North was never at anytime in history more buoyant than the South.

So, how then do you juxtapose agric export report of 1914 with oil palm production data of 1950's and 60's?

If you want to do a serious analysis, compare the revenues that accrued from groundnut, cotton, cocoa, timber, palmoil, rubber and other cash crop in the 50's and 60's and you will get the true position of things before exploration of crude oil started.

The cocoa industry in the western region and the groundnut pyramid in north was not built in 1914 but in the 50's and 60's.

So you found a report from the colonial era posted and you think your work is done?you have made a point? .FYI we have been posting and debating colonial reports going back to the 19TH CENTURY long before amalgamation. Nigeria existed as one for 46 years before independence. One year tells us NOTHING. In 1914 the British did not have full control of the country and so much changed over 46 years for example Nigeria started exporting coal and cocoa took off. It should be noted that cocoa is not an indigenous plant to Nigeria and in 1914 it was quite new it took off and by 1960 it was a different story.
Whilst I do not agree with AbdullahI you should not deceive yourself that your lazy offering proves or disproves anything. It is just information and you still need to do the work of putting forward a coherent argument to marshal your point whatever it might be. You cannot make any argument without at least 10 years data
What is important is to show whether the north and the south were balancing their books and was there a transfer of wealth from one to the other.

Have you done this?

Ango Abdulahi said "before the discovery of crude oil" and 1914 belongs to the era "before the discovery of crude oil", No?

You have done nothing either to prove your assertions. Provide verifiable data to back your argument.

Superior argument will always win.

Ango is a chronic, pathetic, disgusting and senile buffoon suffering from self induced senile dementia.

He is hypocrisy personified. He is a disgrace to the few living ancestors around.

North is present HQ of Landlocked Poverty stricken region of the World.
So how can such sterile place got the money used to develop the South??
70% of southern wealth are used up by the North without any thought of how they can give back.

I have no assertion or argument. I am making none.
I am only asking a question
WHAT DOES THIS MEAN.?
So you found a report ok fine
How do we interpret it ?what does it tell us?
You think by posting a report you have proven or disproven anything? No
How does this post take us from A to B in terms of drawing any conclusions.
I don't know whether AbdullahI is right or wrong though I very much doubt that he is.
This post does not prove anything anymore than telling us that in 1914 people were drinking rain water. It has no value

Go back and do your homework well if you want to prove any point. Your analysis is seriously flawed and doesn't deserve any meaningful discussion or argument.

That is why it is called research. It is hard work and different from entertainment where you find an article post it and starthe feeling clever.

To make the point you are trying to make will take a good few hours of work which you are too lazy to do and content yourself with the cheap thrill of posting a singular article like a child with a new toy..

It proves that contrary to Ango Abdulahi's claim, in 1914 (before the discovery of crude oil), Palm oil (mainly from Eastern Nigeria) was by far the major export commodity and revenue earner.

I do not have data do other years, if you do, please share.

Maybe It proves that for 1914 .it tells us nothing about the balance of accounts and whether money was transferred from north to south or south to north. Without data on the pubic expenditure for both regionss i.e Revenue and Expenses we are ony guessing. Like I said it was very early days at which time even coal from Enugu had not come online and even though the British claimed Nigeria they still continued to pacify several groups militarily well into the 1930s before they had total control .

Now since 1914 was the first year out of 46 years before independence in summary it proves nothing. without data from the other years.
Logically Ango Abdullahi's claim was not about who was earning more but who was transferring money to whom. The fact that revenues from the south are higher does not discredit that claim so you need to engage your logical gears and do a better job

Finally he talked about DEVELOPMENT
Development did not happen mostly in 1914 but in the late 40s and 50s after world war 2.

In 1914 World 1 war started so I doubt there was much development going on then.
Did this state of higher revenues last long? How long?

Mind you I am not saying you are wrong I am just saying without facts and figures you are no different from Ango Abdullahi in making unsubstantiated claims and one 1914 report is too little to prove anything
