Haile Selassie was bad(my opinion). He was actually was Shewa Oromo, but had also Shewa Amhara and Gurage backgrounds. But he was Amharanized.

Amharanization is still exist today, but it's slowing down. Same also to others. This needs to stop fully and like you said, the diverse culture needs to be preserved.
