Its a GSM thing, if network isn't stable on 4g, it will move to 3g, and if bad on 3g, it will move to 2g/edge bt in a situation where the GSM network is bad, like always searching, Mehn, u better off ur phone, u will notice this by ur phone getting warmed up dan normal despite not using it. Changing from 4 or 3g isn't d problem. Edge/GSM d culprit

like me I choose prefer 3G because my 4G network ain't stable it's been good so far n if I go to a rural area simple put it on prefer 2G...keeps battery levels at prime.. Your solution will also go through...But 2G saves battery than 3G n above
