MASSOB Visits Arewa, Insist On Peace by ynaijaNews: 6:10am On Jun 13, 2017 |
The leader of MASSOB, Ralph Uwazurike, has called for peace as he meets with Northern groups in Kaduna. Uwazurike, who led a delegation of Igbo leaders from the South East, told some youth groups in Kaduna on Monday that MASSOB had pursued the path of peace since its creation in 1999, Punch reports. “MASSOB had existed for 18 years without violence, but 2009, I went to London and opened Radio Biafra and handed it over to Nnamdi Kanu as the director. “Soon afterwards, politicians hijacked him, and he started working for them. “The radio that was meant to educate our people and advise our people was turned into the source of hate messages, blackmail, intimidation and others. “The resultant effect was that the northern youths came up to challenge us, to say that they are not happy with the hate messages and the insults they receive from the same radio. “I am here today to say that the main purpose of floating the organisation called MASSOB was not to cause crisis in Nigeria. “I assured the late Odumegu Ojukwu when he was alive that there would be no other civil war in Nigeria. “Because he, Ojukwu, was so concerned and wanted some measure of assurance from me that MASSOB would not cause problems in Nigeria and I gave him that assurance. “And I am today disappointed, that the assurances I gave, may not see the light of the day if certain measures were not taken, and that is why I am here in Arewa House today.” He assured of the safety of the Northerners resident in the South East and urged them to continue with their businesses in the area. “I am here to assure you northerners that all your people in the South East are safe and nobody will harass them. “And, I am happy to hear my friend, Major Hamza Al-Mustapha, who assured of the safety of lives and property of Nd’Igbo in Northern region.” “Self-determination without violence is a fundamental right, we must strive against sowing the seed of discord but do all that will promote peace and justice, he said. “There is a gap of communication from our leaders which needs to be bridged, hence we are meeting with notable leaders in the north to persuade them that there is no cause for alarm. Al-Mustapha, former Chief Security Officer to late Head of State, General Sani Abacha, who convened the meeting, said it was in response to recent quit notice issued by some northern groups to Igbos. He said that the meeting was to intervene in the impasse threatening the unity and oneness of the country. According to Al-Mustapha, the youths need to wear their thinking caps, use their brains and refuse to be used in fomenting any form of crisis in the country. He said current events may not be unconnected with external forces wanting to see Nigeria disintegrate. He appealed to the Kaduna State Government and the Inspector General of Police to withdraw the arrest threat on the youth leaders who issued the Kaduna Declaration. Dialogue is what's needed in resolving conflicts... I support the BIAFRA leaders for taking this issue slow and steady without causing any national treats... Not like the VC Ango Abdallahi and the Arewa Youth who's more than 70years who thinks violence is the only solution needed for restructuring... |

Justuceleague2:This has nothing to do with fear Ogar, you need to understand that age and maturity are two different things... If this issues ain't handle with care lives would be lost... What the BIAFRANS are seeking for is a peaceful dissolution... |

Massob has always taken it softly, little wonder its friendship with Al-Mustapha the convener of the meeting,no harm in seeking for a peaceful dissolution. He still made his point clear 'peace' and the 'right to self determination',that's highly tactical and diplomatic! We can all remain one big black African family but we may just need to stay a little apart from each other in our own nations while attaining great goals. God bless the good people of Africa! 1 Like |

Akissani:Why dont you ask yourself an honest question, why do Igbos after so many years still wants to leave this forced marriage? The answer is simple, the Hausa-Fulani oligarchy with some south west apologoists are still hell bent in maintaining the policy of marginalization against the East,as a punishment for the 1967 war and you no some thing,a new generation of youths has grown up. Hence they are asking why are there no refineries in the East?why are there no international Airports in the East or at best not allowed to function fully through govt unfavourable policies?why is calabar port never allowed to function fully?why quota system the favours certain zones and not merit and more recently why are some refered to as unfortunate 5% by no other person but Mr president?why a federal rail line which funding will be borrowed on behalf of Nigeria, systematically made not to include south East?why are fulani men allowed to move around with heavy arms in there quest for space and taste for ethnic cleansing!etc These questions are begging for answers and then the govt must be willing to restructure,if at all they ever believed in one and progressive Nigeria! You cant be asking those demanding for Biafra to stop while you are not willing to put things right. I doubt if there can be peace without justice! |

hahahahahahahaha, Uwazuruike was expelled by MASSOB, a group he formed, some months or years ago. Uche Madu is the leader of MASSOB now. Uwazuruike is not mentally sound. I am surprised some people are making serious comments in regards to this. Another name for Ralph Uwazuruike is 'Sabo'. |
