Mickael2: I am an advocate of experience but I always know where to draw the lines. If you say we need more experience in the attack and you call Adi, Ighalo and Ideye I will agree with that more than calling for Osaze and Martins. |

Icon4s: I can literally bet my head that anyother goalkeeper we will field will be better than Akpeyi. |

Abeg I don't know why we refused to see, we know that akpeyi is the weak spot in our squad, followed by the left side, anybody saying akpeyi is the best we can afford is a big liar. we have better keepers in the Npfl. when we played Algeria it was very clear but we refused to see it. SA studied our weak spot and used it very well, the Left back wing and a very weak goalie. 1 Like |

Icon4s: Ok Martins is in the same league with Ighalo and Ideye, who has more goals in this current season? And who has scored/performed better for the SE? |

Allowing technical committee sit on call ups is the worst thing that can happen to Super eagles. What is the job of the coach if he cant pick his starting 22 after 1 year? He might as well quit! Technical committee comprising who? These people made Oliseh's life a living hell. Truth is they have their own agenda as well. How and where do we draw the line with respect to their duties? These people are responsible for the downfall of each and every coach that failed to perform. I say let the coach do his job. If not, then we should get a world class coach. With this one coach, we either sink or swim. It is our decision so lets stick with it. The same set of players if used rightly will deliver right results. So in my own books, the reason we lost was the coach and not his players or the ones he chose to invite. I dont exactly know what the game plan was. Lobbing high balls to short strikers and hopin for pace is a little close to stupid in my view. 9 out of 10 times, our attack will be shut down. And thats what happened against South Africa. I dont wanna dwell on our defence line because if the midfield did their job as they should, there wouldnt be need for hassles with the back 4. So final analysis, Rohr goofed big time with his approach. I am a fan of attacking football. Attack the whole 90 mins. If u dont , u get tired, ur opponent starts feeling at home and they end up punishing you. And thats exactly what SA did. They know that we like putting balls in the net in opening 20mins and that once we dont get what we want, we start to fizzle out and so they held us out first half. The bafana coach assessed our players and found out that we didnt have physicality in our game . This was an interview i watched on Supersport 2days b4 our match. I remember the mandela challenge in south africa, the reason Nigeria won was physicality. And we need that in this current team. We need big strikers to partner someone like iheanacho. Otherwise, he will always be outmuscled as a lone striker upfront. He will need more than tap ins to get behind enemy lines. Which is why we shouldnt fool ourselves by saying Iheanacho is a 9. He is not and has never been. He can score a couple of goals in that position but thats not his best place of strength. He thrives better when there is focus on another threat. I would prefer to call him a silent threat. For instance, no one has ever asked why iheanacho has not developed his dribbling skills, why he has not played from the wings. I remember when he broke into city 1st team and was played as a 10 in one of their pre season b4 guardiola, he could pass very well, he even scored a couple of goals in that position. Suddenly all that has faded. All because some baldiola wants him to either be 9 or sit it out. 5 Likes |

Icon4s: U cannot see into the future so u cannot say that. At least if we get a red card we are giving ourselves a chance. That for sure would have forced us to change our shape which is something we never tried to do. I am not bashing him but he acted naïve by not taking one for the team. I won't get into rating Akpeyi but we have good goalkeepers in our league. |

Seriously if our football fails there is nothing to be proud of being Nigeria. I repeat, NOTHING. |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by Joebie: 1:52pm On Jun 14, 2017 |
Funny enough. We are looking for pure 9. We are looking for a right full back. we are looking for a left fullback. tomorrow we will be looking for a keeper. Are you saying South Africa has it complete? You can never win all matches. You are bound to lose at some point. But that should make the team stronger going forward. Nigerians need to chill. And this vetting players idea will cause more complications. History repeats itself but we never learn. |

BascoVanVeli: He tried what he could do and forced the player wide. I cannot blame Akpeyi a single bit. The fault still falls on the CBs, and not even Onazi, for being in a no man's land when they were on that offensive that led to that counter. Please help us by naming that NPFL goalie or goalies that you feel is/are good enough to deputise for Ikeme. |

Humility017: That was the problem in midfield wise guy! We had no creative force in the game hence bringing up(not lamenting) Alhassan. How many inexperienced players did u see? Or are u now calling Iwobi and Iheanacho inexperienced? Why should I leave Rohr when it was all his fault. |

Icon4s: If akpeyi did what he did that led to the 2nd goal in a professional league in Europe, he will promptly be axed! Plain and simple Lets get something right. A goalie is also a part of the defence. And so as the last line of defence with a one on one situation, and he had closed the attacker down, the logical thing to do is to prevent the guy from making any further contact with the ball. If he had to jump the guy, so be it. Worst case scenario, he gets a red card. If we lost 1nil, we wont be this annoyed. In europe, its called taking one for the team. We could at least hustle and still get a draw. Moreover the incident happened way outside our18 yard box. The moment the 2nd goal went in, the morale was totally down. So in my books, Akpeyi desevedly got the sticks or bashing he deserved 3 Likes |

kennysville: Go back and watch the 2-2 we played against SA in Uyo in 2014. Watch how our idolized Enyeama handled the situation when he was one on one with Rantie for their second goal. Please everyone should re-watch that video on YouTube. |

The highlights of the NFF technical committee were as follows; 1.Coach Rohr match day squad will be vetted by the technical committee. He must give reasons why each player was selected. 2.Only after the technical comtee are satisfied with the match day squad before the match day squad team list will be made public. 3.Coach Rohr will make the match day squad team list public before journalist in a press conference. 4.Coach Rohr will answer questions raised by journalists in the press conference. He will defend why he selected his players. 5.A thorough search for better goalkeeper for all our national team has began. They are not satisfied with the choice of some gk when the need arises. 2 Likes |

sontoly: i agree that if someone retires we should leave them, but these two guys are still willing and capable. Even Osaze is still looking for a call-up. Let me repeat what I said, Osaze would have offered more than Moses Simon on saturday, and Martins would have offered more than Iheanacho, should we shouldn't invite them because they are 32? Does that make sense? The world up is next year not next 3 years, they will still be 33 next year 1 Like |

Icon4s: you do understand that the goal was scored in the first half right? Of course that gives us ample time to respond, and if Enyeam pulled him down it would have been a penalty and another sure goal, fantastic decision making by Enyeama |

Icon4s: CB kwa? You make me laugh. We were playing a freekick for Christ's sake and they are two of the tallest players we had, in every single team the DMF falls back. Even in Barca were Busquets is taller than Umtiti, Busquets still falls back, that's the DMF's work 2 Likes |

Icon4s: I am judging based on what I see. Heard Adi was in camp once and due to some issues with some NFF topwigs he was dropped, his career is probably going to go down the drain so I left him out. And even he is inexperienced about the African game, what we are looking for is experience AKA tested and tusted players who can still perform and teach the younger lads. I said ANY goalkeeper we have is better than Akpeyi. Guy wait, is it that you didn't see the first bar that they hit? A simple cross and catch that GKs do all day in training and the imposter of a gk failed, how is that in anyway a good GK? 1 Like |

sontoly: that's y we will continue to fail, once. We saw a promising youngster, we jst discard our old reliable legs, all in the name them don old, we need those old guards to show the youngsters how its being done, when the going get tougher, so to my best knowledge, ENYEAMA, MARTINS,IGHALO,IDEYE,AMBROSE, ALUKO, even OSAZE, and some who I can't remember are still needed, to show those young exciting talent of ours how its being done 1 Like |
