Hello everyone, been following this thread for about 2 weeks now and I must confess. It has opened my eyes to many things. I need advise pls.

My husband studied Mechanical Engineering and graduated about 10years ago.
He has never worked in engineering field. But doing ministry work.
He has the call of God on his life and has decided to go into ministry.

He has attended a bible school here in Nigeria and was ordained minister of the Gospel April last year in Ghana.
He intends to study at Christ For The Nation Institute in Texas.

application has been accepted to study practical ministry in Christain ministries to major in youth ministry and market place leadership.

i-20 forms( for him, me his wife and our two kids) has been sent to us.
His course duration is 3years.
We all intend to travel together as we do not want to be apart for too long being married and ministers of the gospel.
We intend to travel together. He on an F1 visa and myself and the children on an F2 visa
I work in a bank and intend to have an unpaid leave for the 3 years we would be away.
My strong tie to Nigeria would be my job and a landed property.
His strong ties would be his ministerial work and a property inherited from his dad.

Being a completely different course of study from the norm, what are the likely questions we should expect at the interview.

Do we have a chance? Considering the whole family travelling together?
As a dependant (wife) would they ask me any questions? If yes, what are the likely questions?

Pls help a sister here o abeg. We want to pay for the interview so I need as much information as I can get. You all know 64k x 4 is 256k and that quite an amount in this recession... Lol

I trust God to be faithful but preparation is key.

Since his work experience closely ties with his program, the engr degree won't be an issue. They expect that you should know that for the period, you won't be able to work as an F2, so be ready to answer questions along those lines - what you can do, and not do.

What does he plan to do upon graduation? Would he come back afterwards? Who's paying for the program? Would he be able to take care of you and the kids conveniently, even though you aren't working? Those would be the major concerns for the VO.

All the best!

Hello gurus, please help.
Is it out of place for your school to request a tuition deposit of at least $3000 before you they can send I-20 to apply for visa?
Is it also compulsory to get visa before u can make tuition deposit through Form A? I approached sterling Bank today to initiate tuition deposit through form A, the lady said I can't apply for Form A if I don't have a Visa. That I should source for dollar and open a dom account before they can initiate the transactions.

Someone should also share his/her experience if at any point in time you experienced this.

Thanks.cc walspring lagosismyhome and others.

I am no VO so anything i type is speculation...but realistically how do you all 2 adult and 2 kids intend to survive in America. For you F2 is not allowed to work .... f1 visa is just one thing but ensuring you stay in status is another... who paying for the program and you all stay
?

Also what kind of program is this ....a master or a non degree program ? I am guessing he did not take any test either ....Christ For The Nation Institute that name alone doesnt sound like a proper Uni or College..

For this statement Do we have a chance?...nobody can predict this ooo. It depends on the mood of the VO u meet and perhaps Favour as well.

hope he knows this
christ for the Nations Institute is not state accredited. Until April 21, 2007, it had "applicant status" with the Association for Biblical Higher Education. Applicant status is a pre-membership status granted to colleges that may be able to achieve pre-accreditation candidate status within four years. On April 21, 2007, the Board of Directors of Christ for the Nations decided to withdraw from pursuing ABHE accreditation. [2] However, CFNI holds articulation agreements, for the purpose of transferring credits, with many accredited Christian universities and Bible colleges. The receiving school always determines credit transferability.

Few schools ask for deposit and many more do not.
... i think proper research from begining would have shown if the school does or doesn't

I am not a fan of paying before visa but if the school is very important to you. Then you have to make that decision .... how u send it will most likely be blackmarket route... then the trouble of getting the money back if visa not given...for me all that hassle not worth it when there are thousands of schools that dont ask for deposit.....

Sorry for been delayed

Firstly we had adviced you not to go to the embassy with this school California Miramar university..... if you must go with a weak school especially for MBA then have at least an ok profile to help ....but the overall profile of yours is not strong.... weak school for MBA , no other admission, no test scores, not working officially ...

My advice will be to take these 4 points and work on it before you go back for any interview

Is it the fee you were asked to make before a deadline to secure your admission, to confirm you have accepted the offer? Two schools I was admitted in asked for a deposit if I am accepting, deadline May 1. (2k/500)

what school is this , and did you apply to other schools

its actually called SEVIS. its cost $200. Anyone going to study in the usa must payit. its required for your VISA interview. but you cannot pay it here in nigeria unless you have someone in the US or Benin Republic.

you can pay through money order, western union quickpay. but the western union quickpay does not work here in nigeria. it works in benin rep. if you have a person in usa, they will help you pay the fee at the bank. they will be charged extra $20 though. but you can fill the sevis form on this site yourself: https://www.fmjfee.com/i901fee/
