good you use "IF" the desire to put on those gloves again for Nigeria is still burning in his mind, and besides you can never say never,

as for technical committee, we have incompetent hands in that office in NFF,

but if we can give ROHR an AMUNIKE, or A SIA1, with AMUSA ADISA, or IKE SHORUNMU

then we are good to go
Pls how come u know Amusa Adisa d man that gave Enyeama his first break.

Do you understand what you are saying

That to play for Nigeria you must take abuse, denigration, accept nepotism, unprofessionalism, spend your money and if possible loose your career as well as your life.

I recall when Nigeria went to go and play Sudan in Khartoum and the plane chartered was in such obvious visual disrepair. That Enyeama broke down and cried even offered to hire another plane with thier own money. It was construed to be insubordination by the powers that be.

The way Aluko has been treated does not represent a good example and inspiration to attract players to play for the SE.

To accept unwholesome behaviour by officials is not sacrifice but acceptance of wrong. It's like saying because police always ask for bribe it is sacrifice to give it.

Sone Aluko stood up for uncompromising integrity and was penalised and pushed aside as a result. More disturbing is that nobody in position of authority said anything thier silence has been complicit consent.

At one stage I thought you resided here in Manchester but I know I am totally wrong. Your views reflect a warped mindset that accepts corruption as normal and should be accepted as part of national sacrifice.

Well I will not without apology and will rather pay the price for integrity.

Omo Naija to the core. Manchester Ke, Manchester ni. cheesy

My mindset is wrapped with the challenges of Nigerian football. I remember reading of John Obuh feeding his boys with cabin biscuits and water in preparation for the U17. Or Manu Garba's boys walking long distances to charge their phones and fetch water. That our jersey is not easy streets. It is even better now. Sometimes they go years without allowances.

Yea we can give excuse for ndidi or Agu that they are Rookie or no national team experience bt wat can we say for Onazi.
Guy that match pain me, if we had lose to libya or one other small nation, I won't feel this much pain.

God bless you...just leave oga basco
let him keep defending a captain that never played as one... rather than accept blame he hinged it on the dearth of inexperienced players in the team that day....
an experienced player that could not dictate the tempo of the midfield

Don't misunderstand me, you said Ndidi and Etebo was poor and I say Onazi was not better, hw will I say any of our player had a good game after losing 2-0 at home to SA, they all had a bad game bt Onazi take more of the blame. To who much is given much is expected.
I never knew a tree has started making up a forest.. why apportioning more blames to an individual that worked his socks off but you expect him to be the Clark Kent if other ten players didn't come to the party. I just don't know what you want him to do... do you want him to man the post?

U say no player had a good game after losing but yet u are trying to single out Onazi by default. U talk about much being given and much being expected but this is the super eagles, when u put on a jersey much is expected of u. I could also say much was expected from Etebo in the number 10 shirt, did he put up a performance worthy of wearing that number? Did Ndidi put up a performance worthy of starting place? The best option is to call it like u see it, not making up loopholes for the players u like.

Come on Collin. The old Center forward. Really? We have seen teams do well without the old center forward style of play and maybe you are yet to notice that playing an old center forward requires a team reducing building from the back and relying on long balls.

That is defending deep and lounging the ball to a huge man to hold and distribute it.

This is more of a call in change of style and the question is that, are you sure the Ideye and Ighalo can offer more than we have at our disposal?

If that is the case, bring them to camp, screen and drill. If they come up tops, they have my nod but if they do not beat Osimhen in camp, it is a disservice to ourselves dropping a promising youngster with huge talent and better quality for old legs.

The press have destroyed a lot of progress in Nigerian football with their rigorous calls for old legs and shortsightedness. Rohr has moved the team forward in a short time. Give the man time to work before tearing down his structure.

This is the same reason Awaziem started.

Yes. What some of this men complain as being maltreated is something that comes normal with the team. Remember during the CHAN Oliseh handled and he had to use his own money to feed the team during the competition. When Peterside Idah visited the team, Oliseh asked him for money for the team.

These guys sacrifice. We do not have a healthy football system. That is why the likes of Okwaraji, Keshi and co. are seen as more than footballers. Remember Siasia meeting Odili and Alameiseigha to raise money for the U20 team. If the players start listing the sacrifices they go through to wear our jersey, you will shiver.

In America, the Olympic team got stranded after a buglar stole Siasia's credit cards. That was before the arrival of Mikel. Is it selection challenges? Martins was on fire, Yakubu was missing and Martins will still jump at an opportunity to play. Even after Keshi refused to call him, Martins still wanted to play.

I hope Aluko gets a call up. The Super Eagles will benefit from his talent. I am just pointing out that the reality on ground needs players that will sacrifice a lot for the team.

Let me tell you a true story some time back SE were camping in London.

Hotel was booked and players has spent about 3/4 nights in this 4 star hotel. Time to settle bill reach NFF officials began to speak Chinese it was Mikel, Yobo and a few others that settled the bill. The promise was made to reimburse them but of course that na tory.

Imagine a Nigerian but English orientated player seeing that happen. What a ridiculous negative impression. They might think the NFF were clowns and they are in a pantomime.

What I am saying when will this kind of behaviour stop and it all stems from one word corruption.

Wolfsburg Break Silence On Inter-Milan Interest In Teen Sensation Osimhen

German Bundesliga have responded to news making rounds about interest from Serie A side Inter Milan in their teen sensation Victor Osimhen.

Osimhen made his debut for Wolfsburg late last season making three appearances as Wolfsburg maintained their Bundesliga status via the relegation/promotion play offs.

Inter Milan were among the list of teams who chased the 18 year old after his heroics for the U-17 winning team of Nigeria at the 2015 World Youth Champions in Korea‎.

The Italians reportedly came back for the forward this summer according to various reports, but Sporting Director of Wolfsburg Olaf Rebbe said they have not received a bid for Osimhen or Luis Gustavo, two players linked with a move away from the team.

” Gustavo and Osimhen? , no one has been in touch yet”, he said.

I have no problem with Awaziem starting. Our midfield lost shape, coupled with Echiejile forgetting his defensive duties. In a better organized defensive set up, he will excel. I have no doubt about it.

I never criticised Onazi's long balls to the wings. Those are not final balls. Understand the point before running round the thread without clothes. grin

Onazi made good long balls to the wings but I still have a problem with that because that is not the shield's role. The shield's role is mostly to make simple passes. Although once in a while he can unleash the long balls but they should come from deep. This was not the case with Onazi.

My criticism comes from his final through balls to Iheanacho.

Mr Politician u said forward pass. Now u want to blame Onazi for a pass that was stopped by what the commentator called a goal saving interception. He dispossessed his man and placed a good pass to Nacho, we were just unfortunate that the ball didn't go through.

INTERVIEW Osimhen: Eagles Missed Mikel Vs Bafana, I’m Ready To Be Wolfsburg’s No.1 Striker

Wolfsburg striker Victor Osimhen had mixed feelings after making his debut for the Super Eagles in Saturday's 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier defeat to South Africa. In this interview with Completesportsnigeria.com's JOHNNY EDWARD, the 18-year-old striker recounts his experience in the Nigeria senior national team camp, his debut season with VFL Wolfsburg and dreams ahead of next season…

You finally made your debut for the senior national team in that painful defeat to South Africa in Uyo. Tell us what was going through your mind when the Eagles were trailing 2-0, before you came on for Moses Simon with less than five minutes?

I thank God for my debut. I had mixed feelings sincerely. I was happy getting on to the pitch for my debut and I was eager to come in and help the team. I felt bad after the game because we lost the game. My target was to help my team get back into the game but unfortunately we could not break the South Africans down. Nigerians are not happy about the result so also the players but I believe we will come back stronger in subsequent games. At times football ends this way. You expect the unexpected. This defeat is a wake-up call for the players and I think we will do everything to win the game against Cameroon in the World Cup qualifiers in August.

Do you think you would have done better if you had started that game against South Africa?

Yes, because I'm a striker and I will give my best. I feel every player that started the game was also ready for the match just as those on the bench. Even if I had started what would happen would definitely happen. We all did our best and obviously it was not good enough.

What was the mood like in camp after the defeat?

The mood was terrible. A burden of expectation was on us and we failed to deliver. It was not a joyous mood but I'm confident we will get back on track again. We were all down after the game. Nobody predicted a sour ending right from the start of the camping in Paris we were all hopeful of beating South Africa but I think we got stunned at their defensive approach.

Certainly some players were missed and some people believe that the loss was as a result of inexperience in the team on the day?

It's easy to criticise but I believe regardless what was destined to happen would definitely have happened if they were in camp or not. In a way they could have made some difference most especially our captain Mikel.

What was it like battling for a place in the starting line-up alongside Kayode Olanrewaju and Henry Onyekuru. Both players scored over 20 goals in the outgoing season. Were you at some point jittery?

No, I was not. Maybe if I was already 18 when I joined Wolfsburg and started the season I could have scored some goals as well. It's football, what I love doing everyday. It was a good one fighting for a place against the two of them. I learnt from them no doubt but you know as strikers we all have different qualities and I think the coach opted for the style that suited his pattern. I respect them and it's good for the team that we have different qualities.

Which player made the biggest influence on you in the national team camp?

Several players did. John Ogu, Ogenyi Onazi were helpful to me but aside from them my representatives Ariyo Igbayiola and Shira Ayila were also supportive to me.

Talking about your club now, you made three substitute appearances for Wolfsburg last season as they survived the drop to Bundesliga 2. What are your targets for next season?

I'm fully fit again and I can't wait for July 2 when the pre-season starts. I am ready and there was so much expectation when I arrived but those injury setbacks denied me those chances to help my team. I am ready now to challenge for a starting place in my team and my target as a striker is to score more goals for my team and ensure we don't battle relegation like we did next season.

Are you looking to challenge Mario Gomez who finished as your club's top scorer for last season?

We play in the same role and it won't be bad to learn fast on how to succeed him in that position. He is a great player and one of the reasons why we stayed up last season. Wolfsburg is a big team and we don't want to battle relegation again.

Talking about injury those setback last season. How did you feel on the sideline watching your teammates play?

It was not pleasant at all. I had two surgeries but I'm grateful to God for good health and I pray I don't suffer any setback in my career again.

You showed off a bit of your dancing skill during your induction into the Super Eagles in a dinner. What inspired that song Teckno's Aiye which you rendered?

I love the song so much and the dance steps. I love dancing too.

What other things do you do when you're not playing football.

Listening to music and dancing.

INTERVIEW New Super Eagle Youssef: I Almost Played For Egypt; I’d Love EPL Move

In this interview with Completesportnigeria.com's JOHNNY EDWARD, new Super Eagles invitee and Zamalek star Maroof Youssef opens up on his experience in the Nigeria camp, his favourite player and how he could have played for Egypt…

Could you share with us the experience you had with the Super Eagles from Abuja to Uyo?

It was a pleasant time for me there even if I didn’t get to play. I learnt a lot and I observed so many things which some players displayed during my time there.

It was worthwhile and I’m sure that the lessons I have learnt there will stay with me and make me a better individual when next I’m invited.

What did you observe and learn?

Don’t forget I’m just getting into the team and I’m learning really fast. It was a nice experience and I believe I will blend better when I get another invitation.

What do you make of your teammates in camp?

They were all cordial and I hope that we will reunite soon to make the country proud.

Having trained with the Super Eagles team for five days, you were left out of the match day squad against South Africa which we lost 2-0. Were you disappointed you were left out?

No, I wasn’t disappointed. I knew the coach wanted to win the game and he kept faith with those who were with him in camp from France. I understand him well. It turned out that the game ended in a defeat for Nigeria but I believe we will correct our mistakes in subsequent games. We will qualify if the right things are done.

What do you think went wrong? Do you think the Super Eagles underrated South Africa?

I can’t really say we did but from what I saw of the South African team, they showed us too much respect in the first half which we dominated but failed to take advantage. But when they played to their strengths they scored. I think the South Africans didn’t play to their best level.
It’s a lesson for us but I’m certain that we will qualify. If we play with our full strength we will beat them.

Would you have made a difference if you had featured in that game?

It depends, but football could be funny. I have no regrets not playing. I’m sure my time will come and the country will see the talent I have.

Does that mean we were not at our full strength against the South Africans?

Some players were missing and the coach was not ready to blame too much on his team against South Africa.

The likes of Victor Moses, Mikel Obi, Carl Ikeme, Brown Ideye, Odion Ighalo were all missing from the squad. Who would you have loved to meet?

Mikel, no doubt about it. I would have loved to play alongside him in midfield. He is a real anchor man who dictates the pace of the game to suit him.

You were called up as back-up for Elderson Echiejile at left-back but you have played in several roles in midfield. Tell us which is your favorite role?

I prefer playing in midfield. But I can comfortably play as a left-back, a winger, a central midfielder and a centre-half.

You have spent seven years in Egypt; tell us a bit about your journey in football?

I started with a local team in Ilorin, Kwara United. Made few appearances before I was spotted by an Egyptian side El Shota and there I grew into a good player who every manager in Egypt adores. I joined Zamalek four years ago and I’ve won four trophies, the Egyptian Premier League in 2014-15, Egypt Cup in 2015, 2016 and the Egyptian Super Cup in 2016.

You talked about coaches adoring you. Were you ever invited by the Egyptian national team?

Yes, I was close to joining up with the Pharaohs under their American coach Bob Bradley. The coach then came to watch a national team player then while I was at El Shorta and he saw me and made enquiries if I was Egyptian but so many factors hindered it from happening.

What were these factors?

I was not Egyptian and all that. They believed other Egyptian players should get more opportunities at that level but I had no problem with that.

Did you ponder dumping Nigeria for Egypt then?

It was an offer and I considered it. Four years on, I have no regrets. I eventually got an invitation to the Super Eagles, so who says with hard work I can't break in and besides they have some good players too in their squad.

Do you nurse any ambition to play in Europe?

Yes, I do. I love the English Premier League and will love to play there someday. I have to move to change my environment after these years.
I also love the Italian Serie A and the French Ligue 1.

Which Nigerian player do you admire in the Nigerian squad?

I love Mikel a lot.

You must have been disappointed he was in the Eagles game in Uyo?

Of course, I was but there are still other games which will offer an opportunity to see him and play alongside him.

Having spent seven years in Egypt playing football, when are you planning to get married?

In August or September I will get married to my long time girlfriend in Nigeria.

Is she Egyptian?

For where! No oh. She's Nigerian and we've been together for seven years now. She has every quality I desire in a woman. My mind had been made up long ago never to marry a foreigner no matter what.

So no Egyptian lady swept you off your feet?

Actually I'm very reserved and I love my solitude a lot, so I don't often go out like that.

Olympic Eagles Star Amuzie Set To Join Lugano From Sampdoria

Super Eagles left-back Stanley Amuzie is set to join Swiss club FC Lugano on a season-long loan deal from Serie A side Sampdoria, Completesportnigeria.com reports.

FC Lugano finished third in the Swiss Super League last season and will be featuring in next season’s UEFA Europa League.

Amuzie, who signed a three-year deal with Sampdoria last year, did not feature for the first team last season after he rejoined the club after starring for Nigeria as they won men’s football bronze at the Rio 2016 Olympics.

“I have two offers I’m considering at the moment but the one from Lugano looks almost certain for me,” Amuzie told Completesportnigeria.com in Lagos.

Amuzie, a former Flying Sports Academy player, previously featured for Portuguese second division side Olhanense before representing Nigeria’s U-23 team at the Rio 2016 Olympics.

Amuzie noted that the Super Eagles will bounce back from their painful defeat to South Africa last Saturday in Uyo.

Yes we need players that love to play for Nigeria. Because when problems come players are the first that can be affected psychologically. Well the game at hand is Cameroon. Many of us will resume the arguments once again as regards player selection. In football, 1+1 is hardly 2. Which is why we have to take every situation differently. We lost the South Africa game for many reasons than one or just two. I'm really hoping that Rohr will be more tactical going forward. And will do LOTS of studying the opponent.

I just watched the Senegal-Nigeria friendly again, because I think that match is one we have to look at in planning to play Cameroon. Football is a science. Your best players will not necessarily play well in every match they feature. Cameroon is a very physical side. they are big and also robust. They can convert half chances in forwards like Vincent Abubakar. Why your favorite player could be very good in his own right, he may be reduced to nothing against an opponent like Cameroon.

I think we have put so much weight on players like Iheanacho and Iwobi prematurely. Let's be realistic to realize that these players have not FULLY established themselves in Europe with lots of TOP games under their belt. While they have a very bright future, they are not reliable starters especially against Cameroon.

Let's continue the debate constructively with our next opponent in mind devoid of favoritism.

Looks like our man could end up in the championship. The whole Arsenal gist was just a complete agent transfer poppycock
..................

Championship club rival West Ham for Nigerian forward by tabling £ 7 .5 million bid

Onyekuru was initially linked with Arsenal much earlier this summer but it soon emerged no deal was likely. West Ham have since expressed their interest and Onyekuru is believed to favour a move to the Hammers. However with news that ambitious Birmingham have submitted the largest bid could see him playing his football under Harry Redknapp next season.
Slaven Bilic’s side have been told that the player won’t be sold for less than £7.87million. This would also aid the chances of him receiving a work permit to play his football overseas as well. As mentioned, no club has bid more than Birmingham at this moment in time but the Championship club are certainly wary of breaking any Financial Fair Play regulations.
The player himself is currently spending time with his family but was hoping to soon fly over to discuss a move to West Ham. News of a new club entering the market, and a surprising one in Birmingham, does certainly put a spanner in the works. He netted 20 goals last season in the Belgian top flight, leading to many scouts delivering reports of high praise. Redknapp would love to add the player to his squad, and is already hopeful of luring John Terry to St Andrews following his release from Chelsea too.

Give the man time to work before tearing down his structure.
the word "Drill" is synonymous to TheGoodJoe.

Looks like our man could end up in the championship. The whole Arsenal gist was just a complete agent transfer poppycock

I have no problem with Awaziem starting. Our midfield lost shape, coupled with Echiejile forgetting his defensive duties. In a better organized defensive set up, he will excel. I have no doubt about it.
Awaziem starting again?not yet a Super Eagles material, just finished watching d match again,to be candid Rohr goofed on Awaziem.

Belgium Ahead Of Nigeria In Race For FC Utrecht Striker, Who Contributed To 42 Goals Last Season
The Royal Belgian Football Association are thought to be in pole position ahead of their Nigerian counterparts in the race to secure the international future of highly-rated FC Utrecht goal machine Cyriel Dessers.

The striker was born in Leuven, Belgium 22 years ago to a Flemish father Herwig and a Nigerian mom Sophie.

Dessers has trained with Belgium's U21 national team and was close to making his debut in a European U21 Championship qualifier against Moldova in 2015, but did not come off the bench eventually.

In a recent interview with the Dutch press, he admitted that he has never stepped his foot in Nigeria, but hopes to do so in the very near future.

''I feel Belgian. At the same time I accept my roots, because you can not forget where your blood comes from,'' Dessers told bndestem.nl.

''I have been on holiday several times in Africa, but never in Nigeria. That's on my list.''

Last season, Cyriel Dessers contributed to 42 goals (29 goals, 13 assists), which assisted NAC Breda secure promotion to the Eredivisie, and this earned him a transfer to FC Utrecht.

Prior to his move to the Netherlands, he represented Belgian clubs OH Leuven and Lokeren.

That guy is really good, I've watched one of his clips, the way he beats the offside trap time after time is quality.

I also would like to commend the young man threading through those killer passes to him.

Jobie God bless u.

This is the same reason Awaziem started.

Don't mind them, they just want to turn eagles to rookies team,no wonder Porto B defender manned d defence

I just finished watching d match again,Rohr goofed big time on Awaziem, looking at first goal,i laughed in greek,no wonder Awaziem fans here keep on blaming non composed Akpeyi whereas Awaziem was too amateurish in his reaction to d cross that led to first goal.

I'm not here to blame d young man but truth need to be told d guy lack d class for now and looking at d second goal, keeper needed to rush out, almost 30 yards with no defender at glance, one on one situation and guys here are still trying to shed their favorite players from blame, some even said Akpeyi should have fouled d guy and got red card may be d game would have turned in favor of Nigeria,10 against 11 and one goal down, funny and arrogant analyzer.

Funny enough against Cameroon, some are agitating for Osimeh to lead attack, pls on what criteria,Rohr boy Abi even Iheanacho is on hot seat now,Rohr knows what is at stake,no need to gamble on any player.

Nice points and smooth read cheers. My opinion in cases like these has always been simple. Come up with a strategy and select the best squad for it. I am also about playing to our strength. If we try matching Cameroon with strength, we will play into their hands. We have to go against them with speed both on and of the ball.

Defend as a unit and win the balls with tidy interceptions. This gives a picture of what we need and we can sort the players that suit it.

Probably a false nine formation to keep the striker away from the huge defenders of South Africa. We need to keep the ball moving and our players will not need to dwell on the ball.

Strategy - selection - tactics.

Mr Politician u said forward pass. Now u want to blame Onazi for a pass that was stopped by what the commentator called a goal saving interception. He dispossessed his man and placed a good pass to Nacho, we were just unfortunate that the ball didn't go through.

As long as you do not want to accept that Onazi did not make very poor final boys to Iheanacho, you are being economical with the truth. This was not an isolated incident. It happened multiple times. I am not talking of intercepted passes but over hit passes. Etebo also made the same. Na wa O!

We can run in circles but the fact remains, when Rantie nodded that ball, it was close to Akpeyi and he should have saved it. The ball was close to Akpeyi.

I already said that Echiejile went missing on the first goal but Awaziem had no business missing that ball.

When you say someone had a bad game, it is not just goal scored but overall play. Overall, we did not have a balance midfield. We could not stay organized at the back and we could not make the right final balls to cause damage.

That is why Mikel was greatly missed.

Isn't Sone Aluko's dad a senator or something?? He should be raising issues like this up and make sure NFF funding is cut till they address the nonsense
