I really don't dig this Morata deal. On a serious note, I would prefer we continue with Rashford but if we must bring in a striker, I would rather we are in for Mbappe. He's a greedy eediot but lawd, the guy has got good understanding of the game and his hold up play looks good, better than that of Rashford and will only get better. That's not to talk about his eerily calmness in front of goal and ability to pull apart opposition defence lines with his intelligent movement, he looks so mature beyond his years and also, he tends linkup well with his fellow forwards. I can only see Rashford forever being his understudy if he comes to United. That said, the midfield is still paramount and I will never back down on Donny Van de Beek. He was in the Ajax team that got to the final because he was good in the first place. He didn't only look class against our midfield but controlled the match against Schalke team as well. Anyone that's offended by such should go hit his head on a rock and ask himself why the lad looked better than our midfielders in the first place. I would have suggested Nzonzi but he's not getting younger and Iirc, he wasn't really a force in the midfield during his years in the Epl before he later moved to Spain. Hence I will narrow it down to Van de Beek and Oriol Romeu although Romeu is nothing more than a holding midfielder and not necessarily a playmaker as Motta, De Rossi who are playmaking no 6 as well as being holding midfielders, something Beek looks like... |

And there's Verratti! He's occasionally played as a no 6 but I think he's more comfortable as a playmaking no 8, similar to Modric. He would likely be competing with one of Pogba/Herrera for the no 8 role and that means, we would still need to get a holding midfielder. I won't mind a 3-man midfield of Oriol Romeu, Verratti, Pogba though. However, he's Barca/Juve bound! There's no way in hell we would get him, his ship have sailed for a long time hence, I can't be bothered to get my hope up. |
