Hello All,

I compiled all the Visa Transcript on this Part 11 up to this point (pages 0 - 331) to help me prepare for visa appointment.

Thought I should share with anybody that cares.

It's down below:

I was denied today at Walter Carrington but I am so ashamed writing this now. I applied for two different programmes in CSU. MED curriculum (for summer but I didn't go) and Msc mathematics (deferred from spring to fall as I couldn't go) for fall which I really want to do. The school sent me both I20 at different times though but since I didn't go I requested for a new one for maths, fall... I got my I20 with the admission letter clipped to it stating the maths programme. So I got all docs ready and applied. I was just about to sign my I20 today Wen I discovered the major on the I20 was education, Not mathematics. This was where I lost my senses. I was torn between weda to go on with the interview or cancel it. This has never happened to anyone on NL before. I decided to put some points together to defend the education programme hoping to get the correct I20 when I resume

VO : documents pls
Me: did

Vo: what is taking you the US
Me: To Pursue My masters degree in education and curriculum studies with a concentration in maths

Vo: are you a teacher
Me :yes, I work with that school

Vo: what's the age Range of your studentS
Me :9-10

Vo : do you need a masters degree to teach that age
Me: my aspiration is beyond this though, and my new degree will only further advance my career as a mathemticiaN

Vo: how many schools did you apply
Me:3

Vo: name them
Me: UBC CANADA, CSU OHIO and I went blank.. ..totally Bowie disappeared

VO: it's okay and gave me blue

Everything I said was right but my prep was purely based on mathenatics major and all my responses were just new. I wish I never applied to two courses. How I didn't see the Mistake in my I20 is still a shame till now. I am pained

Thanks for sharing

To follow the tradition of this great section on Nairaland, I will share my transcript with the hope that this might help someone someday.

Here we go, I arrived Walter Carrington at 5:50am as I have booked for the 6:30 window. With what I have heard from previous transcripts as per 'shunting' the queue, I just quickly used style to get to the front of the people gathered there since they have not lined up.

6:30 came and I was number 10 on the queue. No wahala. Prechecks done and I'm still number 10 on the line to see VO.

My time came and I was made to stand at Window 5, the second person to be interviewed by the very young and beautiful VO. She denied the first person after like 7 minutes. The Asian guy had denied 2 already and was drilling the 3rd guy. I was not even bothered. I kept looking at my Oxblood brogues and Pepper red trousers with one hand inside my suit jacket, forming lady killer. My time came eventually.

VO: Good morning
Me: (with the most sincere smile in the world as VO na fine white lady) Good morning, how are you doing?

VO: (She smiles back and my heart skipped a beat) Pass me your passport, Sevis receipt and I-20.
VO: What school are you going to?
Me: Tennessee Tech, Cookeville

VO: Where did you do your undergraduate
Me: OAU

VO: When?
Me: mentioned it

VO: What course did you study?
Me: Chemical Engineering

VO: What degree are you getting?
Me: Masters in Chemical engineering with a focus on renewable energy.

VO: Did you do any exams?
Yes: GRE and IELTS.

VO: How many schools did you apply to?
Me: Five

VO: what are your scores?
Me: told her.

VO: What will this degree do for you?
Me: (Took a deep breath because I was ready to download ) First of all, a masters degree in Chemical engineering is a requirement to take up a lecturing job at OAU where I intend to lecture upon graduation. (VO nods in agreement). Secondly, a masters degree in this school will expose me to research on Microbial Fuel Cell technology which is far better than Biomass Gasification which is what is the case where I currently work. Fuel cells are cleaner, bla bla bla.

VO: Where do you work?
Me: mentioned it. A renewable energy firm.

VO: What are your duties?
Me: ( something wey I put for my DS-160 by myself) I monitor key indicators like BOD, greenhouse gases, etc. I write technical report on this and that. I also conduct EIA on New projects.

VO pauses to ask colleague something. I don't know if it's about my case. But me no care, I didn't stop looking at her any point so she go know say I dey her case. She comes back after a minute.

VO: who is sponsoring you?
Me: my dad

VO: what does he do?
Me: mentioned it.

VO: Do you have a relative in the US?
Me: No.

VO: I'll be... (I couldnt hear anything)...3 days.

She brought out white paper from a pile nearby. I just smiled at her and left.

My advice:

1. Don't rush to answer questions. Calm down. When you are calm, you will be able to articulate your thoughts. Even though I'm naturally articulate, I took short pauses before answering. The interview is not as bad as many have painted it to be.

2. All these USnews and google stuff don cast. The chinese guy drilled someone on this. I think saying you found your schools in some professional journal is way better.

3. If your school fee is very high and the school is not Ivy League level, be prepared to defend it especially if you have no scholarship. Chinese guy also drilled someone on it. The guy was clueless.

4. Don't pay attention to people being denied when you enter that room. Face your front. You know why you are there.

5. Don't cram your answers. You may forget. Rehearsing your answers is what helps.

6. Believe in something. I believe in God, prayer, and preparation. I fasted and prayed for grace because I don't want shocking questions. Believing in God helped me to stay confident even though I was prepared.

7. Refer somebody here. I probably wouldn't have known how best to answer some questions if I had not found this room. I have read over 40 transcripts here.
God bless all of you here.

Congratulations to you, I hope you will find my transcript useful for you. Your success is around the corner. Cheers.

That's why we always encourage people to read the thread, if he/she had read the thread, he/she would have known. Secondly, lagosismyhome said the school has low standard, the person/another person was still asking what are the metrics for measurement of standard of school...In Summary, I don't believe you have a point. This is very true. I didn't want to talk about it before because it's none of my business. But the way some people answer some questions here is really rude and very annoying. Yeah I know y'all most time give solution or answers to the problems but other times some people answer questions in a very rude and insulting manner like the person you're talking to is inferior or very dumb. And yes I know some people ask some very ridiculous questions but instead of making jest or answering in a rude manner just ignore no one would crucify you for ignoring. Shey Lagosismyhome is a person too, no matter how stupid the question she finds a subtle way to answer or redirect the person. Not every time say rubbish just because you want to comment. We're all supposedly mature here so I expect we'd do the right thing. P.S: It hasn't been done to me before but sometimes I see replies people give and I'll be like "wtf is this, just ignore the freaking question! Your name wasn't attached to the message"
My 2 cents from my observation.

you are not getting my point what am trying to say is that when the person has such questions u don't have to respond to the question like that, the person might be a guess to this thread u could have just respond positively VIU is a red flag since like 6years now here if I remember correctly, and not You have time sha. because you don't know where such person is coming from and that can caused such individuals not to ask any questions next time. Lets face it, quite a few people here appear to be quite dumb. I have to give thumbs up to the gurus here who seem to have a great deal of patience. In my view, there are some "questions" that should not be answered. For example, someone asking others opinion about a school - what happened to doing a diligent google search about the school's program, ranking (you can find this easily on USNews), alumni etc.? Often times people ask questions about how to fill in ordinary forms, how to answer obvious visa interview questions etc. The whole point of an F1 visa is that you are a bonafide student... the huge number of obvious frauds who appear at the interview is the reason we need to fast and pray just to obtain a visa. Lets call a spade a spade and stop this sickening attitude of making excuses for adults who seem to not have the intelligence required.

I agree we are all expected to be mature here, but maturity goes both ways. We should stop rewarding mediocrity by pretending "we were all there before". There was a time NL did not exist, i wonder how people secured admission to US schools and passed F1 interviews.

I acknowledged the gurus in my text. I've learnt a lot as well and i appreciate that. But like I said and I agree with you, there are some questions that shouldn't be answered. I've seen some questions that sound outrageous, ridiculous and they baffle me that I ask myself "how will this person face a VO or even get where he/she is right now" or "why not just google it" but then like I said I ask myself, ignore the question and move on. But better the question stay unanswered than insult the person. We're all humans and regardless of however we might sound we wouldn't like to be insulted or made jest of publicly. In my opinion.

This thread is a community only because some people did their homework and thus can provide answers to questions. Imagine if we all came here asking questions such as - which visa should i apply for to study in America? The thread would be dead in 2 days.

I guess it is time to take a backseat but before I do so, let me share this.

When I joined this thread, my first 3 questions were ignored cry I felt pained and decided to start reading from part 1. By the time I got to part 4, I was so confident that I'd end up getting my visa cheesy I also got all the answers to my questions. I've met a lot of people on this thread and more often than not, our problem is a lack of sincerity sad For instance, there's a lot of people that emailed me for a mock interview. It was crystal clear that they weren't going to school but when I asked them, they lied. Please, how do you want such people to be helped? I don't mind if you're 'running away', not everyone is meant to go to school but try and be sincere in all your dealings.
Most people here want to be spoonfed, like seriously There's a lot of answers by just typing your questions on Google.
Also, I think I have said it before, we hate being told the truth. You'd warn people against applying to certain schools and they'd hate you. You encourage them to rewrite standard exams and they flair up. Well, I know some people have learnt their lessons (I won't mention names).
There was a time on this thread someone was denied a visa and she started blaming people for not replying her PMs. All of us here are adults, if you can't handle responsibilities like this, I wonder how you'd cope studying or working over here. I don't wanna bore you with my post.

Success to all future visa applicants.

I do wonder how an individual who ask dumb and trivial question manage to graduate and how they intend to continue with their post graduate study... it's a pity.
Anyway kudos to ladies like lagosismyhome and gentle men like walspring who take out time to answer such questions, they are very good teachers... left for me such questions should be completely ignored.
I got a full scholarship and visa by simply making use of Nairaland and quora without asking questions. If at this stage we can't do our own research how do you intend to do a serious research at postgraduate level. it's a pity sha

That point should be mandatory reading for intending students here. I've seen the repercussions of this many a time - sorry to say, but if you attend many of the lesser known historically black colleges, many big companies will simply thrash your job application.
