****If amharic was written in the latin alphabet, it would have made it easier/encouraging for outsiders to learn.
I don't think i'd ever have the luxury of learning a language that isn't written in the latin script cos it takes time n patience, the only exception is if i'm going to get a multi million dollar job with the knowledge of the language .

Yes it's about Kenya violent liberation struggle from British. Your first president Jomo Kenyatta and Tom Mboya were the prominent leaders of KANU. There were also large white settlers in Kenya and had owned almost all the fertile highlands of Kenya.

I noticed something with all ethio music videos i have ever seen : the dancing by shaking the shoulder thingy. Very unique to the horn. And of course, coffee and Ethiopians, never far from each other!
If you ask me, and am not a music guru, there is also a different baseline and beat unique to Ethiopia. This leads me to the question : These MTV best African music awards should be considered a sham because African music is soo diverse in every ramification, who does these awards serve and for what purpose?

most kenyan school kids leave school only knowing about Menelik and battle of Adwa. I once was arguing with a fellow kenyan that Christianity and islam have been in Ethiopia for more than 1500 years and he thought I was lying! Many don't even know that the Ethiopian highlands are larger than the Kenyan highlands, some even think all of Ethiopia is a big desert! Many kenyans and indeed many africans at large aren't knowledgeable about each other. The curriculum is designed to keep you away from the true history. I have personally taught myself alot about African history by my own efforts.

It was created to let Africans interact with music, and it is made for Africa but yes ET has different beat but still. . our work need to be recognized

I've been asked this question before and I'll just reiterate that I don't think the black label is correct. Sure, I'll tick the black option in censuses and other forms in the west, because that's what my people are classed as, but no one is black. You and I are both brown in complexion so if they were to label us correctly, they'd label us brown. This meaningless term was developed by disgracefully racist 18th century German anthropologists. Whilst society has moved on by abolishing slavery, made great strides to eradicate racism and discrimination, one has to wonder why this term has survived. I think it's about time we got rid of it, because this term robs people of their heritage and ethnicity.

So do I consider myself black? No. Do I consider myself African? Yes of course, I'm a proud African man.

Btw I think it is mainly in north America and the UK where people are actually labeled black. In mainland Europe, people are just French Senegalese, Dutch Moroccan or German Somali like me.

U really have a good point here. Buh in the last MTV africa awards, some north african musics/artistes were nominated n i think one of them won an award buh you see, they do not even show up for these awards.

My point is pretty much the same : Africa is not a monolith, culturally musically and in so many other ways, so who says that an American music channel decides who is best in Africa?

Ethiopians socialize with many africans. It is the language that is holding us back. Many ppl here know Big Brother Africa but no one watches it.

But in our music industry, Ethiopian Artists have problems. leave alone with other africans, they don't even collaborate with other Ethiopians. But it's getting better from time to time

we use different instruments and language, but our music has power to be loved. You can also watch us on Coke Studio Africa. . . .

I watched an Ethiopian crime movie on dstv recently and indeed it was a fresh departure from the usual.I wish they will just project themselves more and use more of their ancient sites like those rock churches in Lalibela.It could earn them money like Nigeria.
