I think to Whom it may concern is more appropriate because other agencies e.g Immigration might ask for it. May GOD grant you a safe and successful trip in JESUS Name.Amen Teefinix3: |

Please did you inform the Embassy of your intention of birthing in Canada? I applied with my hubby online in March, he's just got approved while mine still awaiting. We applied to visit. I am a bit worried because I'm 34weeks now. Teefinix3: |

Poe was a seemless process....no funny question asked except ao many days I want to use. No agric....nothing asked abt my bump. Although my bump is not usually big...so maybe the guy didn't noticed and my husb also was with me...we both answering questions...focus was not only on me. I wish u a safe trip and smooth entry as well. urblackpearl: 1 Like 1 Share |

Hello Virt, You are such an encouragement to many and you take time to respond to quotes. God bless your family. Please i requested to send you a PM but guess i can just ask you here and now. I am planning to go with Wiffy and children to Canada for our 3rd born (2nd was an Aamrikan--- LOL), This is on a second thought otherwise we have all set for 'Aamrika' just ticket purchase end of this week... 1. I am been persuaded it's better or saner to have your baby in Canada. 2. It is cheaper as per exchange rate to have baby in Cad. Is it really cheaper? 3. Can i call Dr. Abou-seudu that you used and mention you... (if yes, then pls PM your name for reference only) 4. From the posts seen so far, Brampton Civic Hospital seems very good and big but also cheaper, would you have prefer some other place? 5. Wiffy will be due in Sept. so just want to apply now expecting it within 30 days which means we will go via 'Aamrika'. I was told we will need about 6m minimum in our account to apply and obtain Cad visa. 6. Which airline was your choice and no hassle about 36 weeks flight issue. 7. Generally, how cool is Cad to have your baby, as per benefits compared to 'Aamrika'. 8. We have travel history of UK, Europe, SA and USA. 9. How did you arrange emergency travel doc for baby to come back. 10. Do you have any idea apartment or self-service homes/rates at Brampton or the environs for lodging. Thank you for your usual selfless assistance and PSR (Personal Social Responsibility). God bless all other contributors including the FAMOUS HOTSTEPPER. Hello dear, I stated that I was going to have my baby there and stated reasons. Please search for my earlier posts I did a lengthy post on that. I cannot advise that stating that you want to have your baby there will always grant you the visa, I had a couple of things that might have worked for me which i'm not sure what exactly cos I had a lot of personal reasons on my purpose of travel letter which may not apply to you, like my medical history, where I work and the fact that my hubby and older kids were not travelling with me, plus I had a host in Canada etc. I don't know the cost of Vaginal birth, but it shouldn't be very much different from a C-section delivery. You can read through earlier posts, some people had their babies vaginally and state their costs here as well. [/quote] |
Re: Giving Birth In Canada by Virt: 3:12pm On Jun 21, 2017 |
hi Teefinix, Sorry I did not go through a family doctor, but you can use any walk in Clinic, there are loads of them in Brampton and they will refer you to the Dr. of your choice. There is even one in the same premises where Dr. Abou Seido's office is, just near the Brampton Civic Hospital. Its quite surprising because they not ask me to go through any family Dr. but that shouldn't be a problem. Check Dr Abou's address online, I am not with one of their appointment cards at the moment to confirm the address to you. Teefinix3: 3 Likes 2 Shares |
Re: Giving Birth In Canada by Virt: 3:42pm On Jun 21, 2017 |
Hi Bestbuyer, this nah jamb questions o. lols 1) I haven't had any of my babies in US so I cant say if its saner, but I think Canada as a country is much saner if you consider the happenings in US compared to those reported in Canada. 2) Yes, its cheaper. I compared the cost I received from a US gynae and that of Canada before I chose to go to Canada. Also, cad exchange rate is lower than USD. Currently @240 to a Naira as against N365/USD, parallel market rate of course. 3) You don't need to mention me, I did not mention anybody when I called his office, but it appears he has delivered a lot pple from this part of the world based on my discussions with him. He is a VERY NICE DR, I must say. I loved every appointment I had with him. 4) I did not consider any other place since I was already booked with Dr Abou who works in Brampton Civic Hospital. Yes, it is a very big Hospital and the nurses are nice. 5) Well I don't know how much you would need to apply for the visa, I did mine last year sept. and a lot has changed since then including exchange rates, and besides I applied alone not with hubby and kids. 6) I used Airfrance and there was no hassle or anything, nobody even asked how far gone I was though I was 36weeks with huge baby bump. It was a smooth flight but I think it was a little bit expensive, I paid about 800k just for myself, but check other airlines and their pregnancy policies before making your choice. 7) Again I don't know the difference. But I think my stay in US and Canada is about the same for me, except the extreme winter I experienced in Canada, It was crazy. Our country has best weather, I couldn't wait to come back. lols. Your travel history looks fine, but again, it's the immigration officer's call for this matter. 9) please check my earlier post for details - I used Hotstepper's contact. 10) No, I stayed with a family. But Hostepper may be able to help, you can contact her on this. I hope I passed the jamb questions. lols. I wish you well in the process, but please don't forget to pray, that was my key factor in my entire success story. Enjoy your day. bestbuyer: 3 Likes 1 Share |

Hello guys, I was going to wait till the end of my whole pregnancy journey before posting all information, but I figured some people might need some information now especially as the thread has little to none concerning Ottawa. So here goes: POE Travelled @ 25 weeks with a visitors visa; had previously travelled with it and have been in and out of Canada on other previous visitor visas Arrived at Toronto Pearson International airport with husband at about noon We had filled declaration forms separately and were asked to fill the same; we explained we would be staying for different durations which is why but she said that was fine and thanked us for telling her but that what was more important was having all parties residing at the same address fill the same form She then asked who we were staying with and the person’s location Stamped to go Hospital/Doctor search in Ottawa Went to a walk in clinic (paid $134) very close to where I was staying and was referred to one of their doctors but the consultation fee quoted ($350) was too high I then decided to start from the angle of checking the fees/location/reviews of hospitals I could deliver in before selecting a doctor affiliated to that hospital. I called Queensway Carlton and The Ottawa Civic Hospitals for delivery quotations; Almonte hospital (in a rural kind of area and not as equipped) was another option, as it would have been cheaper but it was so far off from me; Montfort hospital also had good reviews but was a bit far off as well. I finally settled on Queensway due to proximity and good reviews though it was a bit more expensive than the Ottawa Civic (this hospital is especially good for high risk pregnancies). NB: You can check the hospital websites for the list of OBs and their contacts I then selected Dr.Chris Farrell as my doctor and asked to be referred to him (sister-in-law and a cousin had used him plus he had good reviews online); he was linked to the Queensway Carlton Hospital; he also had experience with patients with my pre-existing medical condition, which was a big plus. I did my booking with him even before I got the walk in clinic to refer me. Dr. Farrell’s fees 1st consultation: $250 Subsequent consultations: $60 Tests accepted Pap smear Blood group Genotype HIV status Hepatitis status Malaria Fasting blood glucose Morphology ultrasound scans; checking formation of babys body parts, circulation etc High risk ultrasound scans; checking risk of down syndrome et. al Extra tests done Oral glucose tolerance test had to be done @28 weeks since I entered Canada early blood iron works ( Hb, RBC, WBC, platelets, MPV etc); I asked for that; total cost was $64.64 @ Dynacare lab Ultrasound to be done @ 31 weeks +; will share cost when that is done B streptococcus screening to be done between 35-37 weeks of pregnancy; will share cost when that is done Queensway Carlton Hospital fees Delivery room $3000 ($3495 if it is a C-section)---- this fee is in addition to mother and baby's night stay, which makes the Queensway very expensive Mothers night stay $3140(for a private room); 3100(semi-private room with two beds and a shared bathroom); 2900(regular ward, which has 3/4 beds with a shared bathroom) Baby night stay $1600 Epidural $1000 Pediatrician $500 Doctors delivery fee $1500-$2500 The above fees are based on my enquiries; I will let you know what I actually pay when the time comes Accommodation Though I had family there hence no need for rental, those looking for accommodation can check out air bnb canada ; one can also search kijiji.ca and search under vacation rentals Things to note -Compare different hospitals’ fees before selecting a doctor linked to that particular hospital (for example Queensway charges a separate fee for the delivery room and the mothers room after delivery whereas Civic did not and this excludes the doctors delivery fee for both) number of consultations with doctor before delivery to be able to calculate amount of money to be spent before delivery - If you have private insurance, please make enquiries as to how much of pregnancy/labour costs they will cover as this helps offset some of the bills -If taking a taxi (Uber much cheaper) calculate transport expenditure too -Consider your medical history and the facilities available at the hospital (for example the Civic is more suited for high risk pregnancies) -In addition to the OB’s delivery fee, one has to also pay the paediatrician, (I don’t know if this is the case everywhere) -The OB you see for normal consultation may not be the one to deliver your baby if he or she is not on duty that day; you can only be assured of this if you schedule an elective CS; all your medical records and files will however be forwarded to the hospital for review by the OB on duty -Never rely on online quotes; call and verify whatever information is online I will be updating as time goes on. Blessed day everybody 7 Likes 2 Shares |
