Because of many historical reasons, those 3 Cushite sisters hate each other. Not all but majority. Eritrea is home to different ethnic groups like Biher-Tigrinya, Tigri, Bilan Agew, Kunama, Beja and few others.

Biher-Tigrinya(Kebessa) are basically the same people like the Tigrays of Ethiopia. Both speak the same language and are only separated by Mereb Melash river(One of Ethio-Eritrea border).

Culturally, the so called Habesha people(Amharas, Tigrays, Biher-Tigrinyas, Gurages and Hararis) are the same. Those people are descendants of the great Axumites.

The Tigrays and Biher-Tigrinya are relatively lighter in skin tone than their other sisters, but basically almost all northern, central, some eastern Ethiopians and southern Eritreans looks similar. This is because, all Ethiopians are the products of many centuries old of extensive mixing.

No single Ethiopia is pure. For example, when I'm asked what is your ethnicity? I will say I'm Amhara/Agew mix. But in reality, my Agew mother has also Tigray, Gondar Amhara and Wello Amhara backgrounds. Her parents may also had other backgrounds. My father was Amhara, but I'm sure he had also other backgrounds also.

You have to look at Swahili people like Dominicans, a group of people who are a mixture of Africans, Natives & Europeans. Some Dominicans identify with their African roots whilst others identify more with their European or native roots but at the end of the day they're all Dominicans.
So, let's take Mombasa for example, you have the Twelve Tribes (Native Swahilis), Swahilized Africans & Swahilized Arabs. Naturally the Arab Swahili will identify more with Arabia then a Swahili Pokomo-Kenyan but they're both Swahili connected by their mother tongue language, culture and beliefs.

That was the simple lazy breakdown but the Swahili coast is a little more intricate than that.

I'm a Swahili from Tanzania and what I have noticed is the Kenyan Swahilis have a more well defined Swahili identity than the Tanzanian ones, I think they might be more Arabized as well but I'm rambling

It also goes without saying that the native speakers of any language speak it best. In Kenya too, as elsewhere, one can tell where another is from by the accent they use. Our "beef" with some people on this thread is when they want to disassociate Kenya and the origins of Swahili when it is known that two major dialects of kiswahili namely kiamu and kimvita are native to Lamu and Mombasa, which are squarely in Kenya.

I once was arguing with a fellow kenyan that Christianity and islam have been in Ethiopia for more than 1500 years and he thought I was lying! Many don't even know that the Ethiopian highlands are larger than the Kenyan highlands, some even think all of Ethiopia is a big desert! Many kenyans and indeed many africans at large aren't knowledgeable about each other. The curriculum is designed to keep you away from the true history. I have personally taught myself alot about African history by my own efforts.

Brother, being identified as black or others is a subjective matter, so Artank may be right. I've seen his profile picture and he looks brown like he said. So I don't see any problem for him to identify himself as brown rather than black.

First, what is the definition of black? There are black color Asians, but why they aren't identified as black but other Africans who aren't black in color considered black? It's because the racist ideas of 18th century German anthropologists like Artank pointed out.

Africa is the most diverse place on Earth, but no matter what skin color you have, you are considered black and this needs to stop. Westerners are so racist that they will relate all negative things to black.

Black is a color not a race. I'm black but my mother and her mother aren't. So I must be considered black since my color is black, but my mother can't be identified as black because her color isn't black. Not all African are black. Instead of uniting under the banner of black, why not unite under the banner of Africa?
