After years and years of denials by the resident South-Africans in this thread, it turns out that 12 Gripen fighters have indeed been in long-term storage.

Talk about a dog going back to it's faeces.

They were in rotational storage, which is exactly what we allways said.

Dude, grow up.

Previous low availability of South African Air Force (SAAF) Saab Gripen C/Ds has been overcome by bringing stored aircraft back into service, says Lt Col Josias Mashaba,

Mashaba also outlines a unique role for South Africa’s Gripens in combating rhinoceros poaching grin grin grin grin grin. This one is just sad!!

If submarines can chase away sharks from tourist in South-African beaches, i guess Gripens can be used to hunt Rhino poachers. grin grin grin

I cant hear you over the sound of our 26 operational Gripen

How are your 3 non-existant JF-17's coming along?

What a sad little....little boy.

Anyway hope to see your already outdated 3rd gen J-17's in nigerian skys by 2035.
This kid again. Education must be really expensive in Zululand.
Jf17 is a 4th generation aircraft while it's block 3 is being described as a 4th generation + aircraft.

Only time someone laughs with a "buhahahahaha" is if they're mentally ill, go get yourself checked out.

This is obviously a concept Nigeria knows nothing off. Borders being patrolled by air assets. In this case, our biggest national park happens to be on the border. What is exactly so "rib hurting" to turn on your recon pods while you are there? We'll wait for your non existant answer.

Nope just you being butthurt.....frumentius posted photos of Gripen pilots.....ssaengine posted an article which was related to the photo.....nobody mentioned you or any historical debates we had regarding the issue.....yet you felt the need to respond!!

Lastly there is nothing wrong with using the Gripen for anti poach operations, since looking for poachers in the bush at night is exactly the same as looking for rebels in the bush at night, all it means is our pilots are gaining more operational experience.

Pretty picture, but how many JF-17's are on Nigerians runways TODAY/NOW? These are the last few months Nigeria has of operating a 1990's air force with your F-7's. Embrace it, enjoy the moment, JF-17's will come.....don't stress :-)

3rd gen according to the chinese.

"b...but they count aircraft generations differently"

No they dont.

They built MiG-15's in China which is Gen 1.

Mate the only person round here who got upset is you.

Why would the fact that we have 26 operational 4th gen fighters have us in tears?

You want to talk about absurdity?

What is absurd is you, with zero 4th gen aircraft, criticizing us, with 26, about anything... at all... ever.

Grow up.

Real pilots who can all get shot down tomorrow by "Rhino hunters". Zero air force, since 1993. Zero front line fighters, zero air superiority.

It seems as though bombing Boko Haram has confused some people into believing they actually have an air force that can defend anything. When your airforce cant defend against say....4 or 5 4th generation fighters grin grin grin. Zero air superiority.

Only thing missing from this picture is if it were taken in black and white. As a true reflection of the "era"

They are currently tied up running after rhinos in the bush.

I think they are currently on the one million rhino sortie..... ..... Let me tell you brah, it is exhausting. cool cool

They've racked up enough rhino aces.
