It is generally believed the Ethiopians somehow keep to themselves, but l believe this is a wrong notion and is due to the language barrier and probably strict internal policies. I have an Ethiopian friend(in Germany though) and yes he is nice and very open, so that notion about the Ethiopians, may be due to a great misconception.

Lived in Pretoria most of my life, there were road works everyday since I was born ! So nothing special about building roads, Mbeki built roads and so did Mandela .

Also I'm not very impressed by 2 tiny universities and the gautrain was financed by the Mbeki regime not Zuma.

I judge presidents on how the country's economy preforms.....why? Well because a strong economy is the solution to 99% of a country's problems, a strong economy creates jobs, financed infrastructure, decreases crime, lowers poverty ect ect a weak one those the exact opposite.

Mandela's regime brought us from a recession stricken Junk status economy to one with possitive growth and a very good credit rating, Mbeki grew the economy at 5%.......Zuma has destroyed all that hard work in half the time.

Pretoria is just one city on SA , there were more places that didn't have those things before but now do.



I agree with most of what you said especially about the economy, but impressed or not about the things that happened under zuma will not change that his government made them happen, same way that his crap cannot be changed.

You might be correct there, I've noticed they tend to struggle to communicate but I'm sure it will get better in time. But I still salute how they behave when they are in another country, we have over a million of them here but you would think we have none at all because of how peaceful and law abiding they are. But that is what Africa is known for already, if you go out of Africa, the first thing that comes to the mind of foreigners is that Africa is all about wildlife, so many animals. All thanks to Discovery channel.
Unfortunately they also view Africa as a place of extreme poverty, full of dying children, famine and slums. Most of the time the pictures they depict in their head from the media is centered on the worst from South sudan, Somalia, Nairobi and places in North Eastern Nigeria respectively.
People view all of Africa this way and some think of it as a country, along the road in some cities in Germany, there are pictures of dying children in Kenya and Sudan, and people are urged to contribute towards charity. I lived in Eastern Germany for a while.
So in summary, Africa is best known for wildlife, athletes, Mandela, Pyramids ( on the positive side).

The main fabric used in those clothing is ankara. They are part of modern Nigerian wear, they aren't necessary the most traditional wear and yes it's very common throughout West Africa and beyond. Other fabrics used in modern Nigerian fabric are lace and "native". These became part of the modern Nigerian attire.

Also, I like those Afar wear. They are very light, probably because of the scorching sun. I've noticed the Afar wear differs from that of Amhara likewise the Amhara also differs from Oromo. The same reality is in Nigeria. Every ethnic group has its own wear, so the modern Nigerian is the blended and very modernized version of the original traditional clothing. By traditional, I'm talking about what people wore like 400 years ago before any modern adaptation. I see that in some of the Ethiopian posts, the same modernization is happening. For example, I can almost distinguish what is modern Ethiopian and what's ancient.
