They were most definitely not the most enlightened. The achievements made by the Oyo and Nri empires, amongst others, dispels that myth. The word "enlightened" has very racist undertones btw so I wouldn't take any black person who uses it in this context seriously.

Yeah we did. Nigeria was divided by the Biafrans (Igbos n other minority groups) who declared seccession. The war lasted for 3 years until Biafra was defeated and re-merged back to Nigeria.
My people were direct neighbours to the Igbos (Biafra), so we suffered casualties, molestation and rape from Biafran soldiers. But the Biafrans suffered more because most countries of the world supported Nigeria.

Yes, in today's Nigerian settings, my people are classified as minorities. If you are not Igbo, Hausa or Yoruba in Nigeria, you are a minority.
Buh being a minority in Nigeria is not so bad anymore since we now have dozens of state governments and most minority groups rule their own states. Minority groups only suffered oppression during the old regional governments.

**** I agree with you about history, buh even though history is not included in our academic curriculum as a subject, some bit of it is taught in other subjects n many Nigerians do educate themselves on their histories. Either ways, there are advantages n disadvantages of teaching history.

If history should be taught, i think it would be selective. They should remove the bitter parts and teach only the beautiful parts
