Boko haram have been driven out of Sambisa too.

Tell us what you accomplish in Somalia for years before pulling out.
First of all, Ethiopian soldiers are still present in Somalia.

They accomplish to bring relative peace for the people and also participated in social helping part. After 2014, the independent Ethiopian force in Somalia joined AMISOM to help the mission. Only 2 AMISOM Ethiopian soldiers died in Somalia since 2014.

There's this Russian/Belarusian influence on the AFSF which is expected as they were mostly trained there just like how you can spot Nigerian army counter terrorism forces wearing Pakistani SSG commando vest/hats

so its realy the russian flag ? , is it a regular badge for all the unit who have received training in russia? i dont think that the Russians would appreciate that a foreign army use their flag in operations .

Exactly! The INSAS was meant to work in 30-celsius Kargil and 45+ celsius 100% humidity of Kanyakumari in the far south! As I always say, hear what the operator, the real life shooter says of a rifle or any other weapons system. In this case see what ex SAS John McAleese who fought in Rhodesia and was one the founders of 44 Para says of the R4 after it let him down:
http://www.oocities.org/odjobman/nomean.htm

How and why was such an operationally unready rifle issued??

He fought where? Northern Ireland and making the SAS famous.

There's another 44 Para somewhere besides SA?

Not Rhodesian SAS.

It could have been this wooden burrel version on this picture. If not mistaken, it came from Israel and would have suffered from African conditions. As far as the R4/R5 is concerned, it's so reliable I've not heard of an incident where the rifle failed to operate.

OK Bros, thanks for everything. We can see how peaceful Somalia is today because Ethiopian troops refuse to put soldiers where the war is actually taking place.

Let's forget the argument. I love Ethiopian girls anyway.

I've shot my R-4 so hot the paint came off it. Once I set the front part of my sling on fire and burned my fingers. Never had a problem with shooting it hot apart from the handguard melting, but then , if you're going to get it hot you'd have the bipod out.

Believe me, SF vets can be just as full of bullshit stories as anyone else. All machined receivers get hotter than stamped ones. Doesnt mean the gun will malfunction. The lube will start to burn off though, so you'll end up with a dry gun.
I've never heard of the inferior metal theory. I wonder why the Israelis sourced the steel blend for their Merkava from the RSA if we didn't know anything about metallurgy.

As the double feeding R-4. That happens when you load 35 rounds into the 35 round mag. They just call it a 35 round mag. You're supposed to download it to 30.
I guess, being an SAS man he though he didn't have to read the manual and wanted those 5 xtra rounds for making headshots.

Ps. Just as a character reference. This guy was being investigated for child porn before he died.

have u ever fired INSAS rifle ?

anyways look up the troubled development history of M16 ,

INSAS development troubles pales in comparison to that,

but i guess arms development from developing countries r a eye sore to media both international and local "paid up" media and their readers.

u cant develop ur arms industry if ur not persistent with them, since technology and efficiency is always a work in progress.

it helps to develop what is known as pedigree. u cant build ur arms industry by using foreign equipment's.

note : the diverse operating conditions under which INSAS is designed to operate will have most of the "shiny" rifles struggling . lol last tender all of the participating international rifles failed in one or the other tests mandated under army GSQR leading to cancelling of tender.

during the recent UNIFIL Inter Contingent SA Firing Competition which was held at Ebel-El-Saqi Firing Rg, Marjayoun, South Lebanon. 14 Grenadiers Infantry Battalion Group stood over all First in the event out of 14 different countries.

The battalion team bagged First Position in Rifle Firing event using the very same INSAS rifles

Lol - IIDF (Indian Internet Defence Force) out in strength! Your reaction times are amazing! Let's get to the nitty-gritty:

Terrible QC (quality control), sub-standard materials (stocks, furniture made out of non-fluoropolymers that degrade under UV) it's made from 4 different metals that react differently under harsh conditions, it has issues with its gas system, the magazines are made from sub-standard materials that crack and shatter

Also - it's combat history

1. During the conflict—waged over the disputed and mountainous Kargil district in the province of Kashmir—the Indian troops’ rifles jammed up, and their cheap, 20-round plastic magazines cracked in the cold weather.
To make a terrible weapon worse, the Insas had a habit of spraying oil directly onto the handler’s face and eyes.
Designed to shoot in semi-automatic and three-round burst modes, some soldiers would pull the trigger, and the gun would unexpectedly spray rounds like a fully automatic.

2. Then in 2005, Maoist rebels attacked a Nepalese army base. The Nepalese troops had Insas rifles bought from India. During the 10-hour-long battle, the rifles overheated and stopped working. The Maoists overran the base and killed 43 soldiers

3. India’s Central Reserve Police—which uses the rifle—finally had enough. The CRPF is a counter-insurgency force tasked with fighting Maoist rebels known as Naxalites in several eastern states.
“We have sent a proposal to the government that all Insas rifles with the force be replaced by AK rifles,” CRPF general director Dilip Trivedi told the Times of India. “The Insas has a problem of jamming. Compared to AK and X-95 guns, Insas fails far more frequently.”

INSAS is know, globally, amongst gun enthusiasts as being a p.o.s

To be clear, I am not doubting that a well made INSAS is a good rifle. I am criticising the QC issues that crept I during manufacturing

Double-feeds and stove-piping with R4's, Galils, AK-5s and RK-62's all pertain to issues with the ammunition. Brass v steel cased, which isn't an issue with FN-FAL or R1.

Having read the link, the story is based in the late 1970s... Which is when the R4 was introduced, hence it's highly likely that there were teething issues.

What do you do when you wife sends you videos having sex with other men when yo a soldier? You drive 20hrs straight 2000km to your house rig the compound with mines.... Ha! This guy! The US has gotten quite good at dishing out serial killers, psychopaths and all manna of weird sh!t

According to Department of State sources three American citizens were captured yesterday June 21st while trying to cross into South Sudan covertly without visas by SPLA forces near the city of Narus, a city sitting on a major traffic artery that acts as the predominant access point between South Sudan and Kenya.

The Sudan People’s Liberation Army (SPLA) began as a rebel force but is now the recognized military of an independent country. The Sudan People’s Liberation Army (SPLA) is the military wing of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM).
The three Americans identified as William Wright-Martinovich, Craig Austin Lang and Alex Jared Zweifelholfer, have all served in the US Armed Forces in the past with two of them more recently seen fighting in the Ukrainian Civil War conflict with a local militia unit known as the right sector against Russian separatist forces.

At least two of them have very colorful pasts in regards to their military service despite their young age and maintained a very active social media presence as recent as late April 2017.
Alex Zwiefelhofer, 21 from Bloomer WI,was a Private First Class with 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division and he was declared AWOL and subsequently was placed on deserter status in October 2016 due to an unauthorized absence according to the 82nd Airborne Division PAO LTC Joe Buccino.

“The 82nd Airborne Division was made aware of the situation involving PFC Zwiefelhofer yesterday the 21st and is working with appropriate US authorities in the area to coordinate his return to military control” he added.
Craig Lang,27 from Ayden NC, is also a former U.S. Army soldier that drew national attention when two years ago drove from his base in Fort Bliss Texas nonstop to North Carolina with a car loaded with claymore mines and two M4 rifles after his pregnant wife sent him various videos of her having sex with other men. Once there he proceeded to mine the perimeter of her condominium with claymores and attempted to murder her.

He ended up serving only a few months of jail time and was released due to psychological/behavioral issues, and because according to him “the US Army knew that he had mental problems and did nothing to address them. I told my commanders repeatedly that I was going to murder her. The motherfuckers thought I was bluffing.” he said in July 2016 during an interview on a vice article featuring Americans fighting in the Ukrainian Civil War.
While in the Ukraine he fought with the right sector militia Right Sector a far-right Ukrainian nationalist political party that originated in November 2013 as a paramilitary confederation at the Euromaidan revolt in Kiev.

The last of the three, William Wright-Martinovich became a United States Marine in December 2012, Graduating from the Marine Corps recruiting depot in San Diego and with the E 2nd RTB Platoon 2109. Currently there are no information as to his service and is assumed to have ended under honorable conditions.
Where are they now

Earlier today control over the three American citizens was relinquished by the SPLA to the Kenyan national police and all three American citizens are currently held in the city of Kakuma and were moved today the 23rd to the capital of Nairobi pending turning over to US Embassy officials and repatriation.

It is unclear why they were traveling to South Sudan, a war-torn region without proper travel authorization or visas as required for all foreigners. Also of interest is that even though PFC Zwiefelhofer was on AWOL/deserter status his passport is not flagged and he was able to travel outside the United States to Europe, Ukraine, Turkey and now Kenya and South Sudan.
According to LTC Buccino “the 82nd Airborne is in the process of gathering all the facts and do not have answers to these questions at this time.”

Weird question... do North Africans speak arabic?

I assume that there are national languages for each country, but is arabic a general language? Like in RSA and other places where people have their "mother tongue" or "home language" and then English as their public language.

I assume that there are national languages for each country, but is arabic a general language? Like in RSA and other places where people have their "mother tongue" or "home language" and then English as their public language.

in the street in the maghreb we have our local language , the algerian , tunisian , moroccan languages ( its a mix between modified local arabic , berber , french , spanish turkish words ) , with little difference from region to other and not many difference between tunisian , algerian , moroccan street speaking , but other arabs coutries can t understand it . their is also the ancestral berber language ( amazigh ) 20 to 30% of population speak it beside the local language, specially in some region ( north center and north east , extrem south of algeria) , (north west morocco Rif region ) , tunisian dont have a lot of amazigh speakers .

Now at school , first language tought from primary school is arabic ( the classic arabic ) the first official language in north africa , used in news official events , by journalist , politics ect... ( and we use it to talk with others arabs) , 2nd language In proportion of use is french (most poeple speak it too) tought from primary school to, its used in the university for most studies , Tv news, by politics , intellectuals ect ..... and of course amazigh ( the 2nd official language with also variations from region to another and a classic standard version used on tv) .

+ we study english from middle school (3rd language tought at school) , only few poeple understand it, the intellectuals, the young amateurs of music, cinema ...... , and others languages are taught for literary sections in high school ( dutch , spanish ...) . in university you find all language mostly used in the world .

egyptian speak an arabic close to middle east countries , close to classic with few local modification , easy to understand by all arab countries du to the hudge egyptian cinema industry from the 60s and have english second language in studies .
