Mande and Akan are Meta ethnicities, not Ethnic groups.
Meta ethnicities are a collection of wide ranging ethnic groups that might have something in common. Under Akans, there are Ashantis (the one we all know), Fantis, Nzemas, Brongs etc.

"Maghrebi", Akans and Mandes are not Ethnic groups, but a collection of Ethnic groups speaking Mande languages (Mandes), Akan Languages (Akans) and Berber or Arabic languages (Maghreb region).
If Mande and "Maghrebi" are classified as single ethnic groups, then Bantus, "West Africans", Cushites, Guineans, Nilotes and all sorts of other absurd categories of Africans should be classified as one, based on one similarity or another.

Also "Egyptians" is not an Ethnic group
There are Berbers in Egypt, Nubians, Bejas, Arabs, Greeks, Egyptians, Copts, Turks and Bedouins in Egypt...All DIFFERENT ethnic groups of different origins.

No, you can't be including diaspora populations for "Magrebians" and then forgetting that Yorubas and Igbos have diaspora populations that also run into the Millions.
Infact, the French constitution does not recognize ethnic groups, and the French census does not include ethnicity data, so according to French law, they are all recognized as one thing and one thing only, FRENCH.

I deliberately did not include Mauritania, because West African BLACKS are the majority in Mauritania. And the rest are a mix of Berbers and Arabs the country's population is like 4 million in all. Nothing like "Maghrebian" ethnicity. Nobody in Mauritania or Libya says my "tribe" or "ethnic group" is Maghrebian, lol.

Apois are upland Ijaws in Ondo state that have become largely Yoruba by extensive mixing with the Ikales.
So that is where the link is. Yorubas are not related to all Ijaws but just a section of them, that is why they are listed separately as just their clan name.

i agree with you , here in maghreb we dont use maghrebi as an etnicity word , maghrebis is used as ethenicity by europeens , du to the immigratiion , they call all migrant from maghreb , maghrebis and for them its an ethnicity . and this kind of stats and classification are done by western journalist so you will find this error a lot on internet

The OP is wrong, the Fulanis don't have more population than the Igbo people in Africa.

The hausas are scattered considerably in several African countries aside Nigeria. They have noticeable figures in about ten to 15 african countries aside Nigeria. The yorubas cannot be the largest west african group. Aside Nigeria, the only other country they have considerable size numerically is Benin republic. And they are the third largest group in that country with about two million population. At most yoruba would be 40 million and hausas in several African states combined cannot be less than 60 million to be sincere.

The Fulanis that are Nigerians are not more populous than the Igbo. But Fulanis are nationals in more than 18 countries in Africa. Add their total population and you may begin to understand how they could be more in number than the Igbo.
