Between men and women, who do you think wallow more in the grief of heartbreak? I was having an argument with a friend over this. He confidently asserted that men almost never suffer from heart break, that it's nay exclusively a ladies thing. Although, I've never experienced heart break, nor have I had the chance to hear from those who have, I was strongly opposed to his claims. So, are there men here who have experienced heart break? How intense was it, and for how long did you feel the pain? Did it drag on for long? What about the ladies? How quickly were you able to get over your heart break in comparison to guys whose experience of, and subsequent reaction to, heart break you're quite privy to?

I hope your not the one ...I feel its the one who cares that feels the hurt the most and the dumpee or rather the one that got dumped...

Lolzzz. Certainly not me. Making gender-specific statements on emotion-related issues is not in my nature. Although, I used to have the orientation that ladies are the weaker vessels [I grew up in a patriarchal society, afterall], I've grown out of that imbecility since the age of 14, about six years ago. So, it wasn't me making that argument.

Now, back to the topic. You said the one who cares more suffers more from heart break. Of course, yes. But you haven't answered the question yet o, 'cos the thrust of the guy's argument was that ladies, on the average, or should I say in general, are THE ONES who care more, hence the reason why they wallow more in the grief of heart break. How do you see that?

Men rarely get heartbroken and if they do its usually fatal and may last a lifetime but women can suffer three heartbreaks in one week and the next week they are in love again with a fresh new dude

Yes I agree with you that ladies sometimes suffer more from heart break ,but iv known guys who have been the ones to suffer and the reason being the one who loves more in any relationship hurts the most when it ends ,it could be either party...

OP..isn't it obvious that ladies feel the pain more,cos it's natural.however,on a broader sense,the one being dumped feels the effect more in most cases.

No you are wrong,it doesn't necessarily mean the one who loves more,it has to be attributed to the mind.some people can natural stomach unbearable emotional pain more than others,thus making it seem they didn't care at first. A good example is me.

But you seem to have missed the crux of the matter again. It isn't about male and female partners going their seperate ways in a particular relationship. It's about comparing the DEGREE to which a man with a broken heart, let's say CHARLES, in one relationship, and a woman with a broken heart, I'll call her Janet, in ANOTHER relationship, dwell on the pain of heart break, it's intensity and for how long. It's about comparing isolated cases. You get?

I know ladies are, on average, more emotional than men, but when it comes to relationships, I think it's more complex than that. Have you ever had an experience that made you conclude that women suffer more, or you based that assertion solely on the fact that they're generally more emotional?

it all boils down to what u invest in the relationship time money emotional attachment etc. The truth is if u love more u invest more in the relationship and the other party invest less, it is that simple. Relate it to business if u invest more and invest less if anything goes wrong, who will be the most affected? If u can answer that then u have your answer. It simply has nothing to do with gender

Actually,i'm speaking out of experience.when I tried breaking up with my girlfriend due to unavoidable circumstances,she cried her eyes out that I felt empathy for her and decided to let it slide.mind you,i love her very much and deciding to call it quit was a very difficult thing for me to do.however,i summoned courage and did what I thought was the needful.But,such display of emotions like crying is something I cannot do,not in this life at least.
