In my part of Igbo land we address older people as nda, dada or Dede. Even if they are one year older than you.

Personally I never liked it as I insisted all my younger ones call me directly by my first name.
It all depends on personal preference. It obviously bothers or you wouldn't be here about it.
You can tell her about it if you want.

However does your younger brother call you by your first name? Because if he does, then it's unfair that you expect his wife to attach a prefix to your name. It would give that impression of in-law superiority that causes trouble in many homes.

Be careful how you handle this. (non-issue in my opinion)

I am married with four kids, very gentle and easy going. My immediate younger brother's wife calls me by my name. I am 4 years older than her. Is this RIGHT? If not, how do i correct her politely? Matured responses pls.
Nigerians and titles . What do you want her to call you? Aunty or Mummy or Grandma. Or Her Holiness?
You gotta take life as simple it comes

Since you dont like it, tell her. Personally, I like my name and do not mind. And i dont like being called mama this or mummy that. My kids should not take away my identity. The most important thing is that we respect each other.

You should talk to her since it bothers you.

Just tell her to call you Aunty if it bothers you that much but the age difference is not by much .

She is addressing you just the way you treat her.

If you care for her and protect her like a big aunty would do, she will address you as such smiley

My dear, your case has an answer.Note, that she is your younger brother's wife doesn't make her younger than you,she maybe your age mate though u didn't specify her age here.
Also it doesn't have much to do generally being from Igbo or any other ethnic group, every african male or female likes respect by age.On this note ,l wish to ask what your brother calls you or how do u relate with him.Even if d wife calls u by name but sees respect n honour and right family bond within d family, she will join suit.
Also how does respect by age flow in your family.U can't expect what u don't have.
Some people came from where respect by age doesn't count, she might be one of such.
Finally try to take her as a younger sister ,possbly provide for her where and when necessary both in material and kindness if u have what it takes.Pls don't be too close with her especially living together but try n show her care often.ln a short time she can't summon the courage to call you by name again.
So my dear read the above and do the needful.
