Every Engineering student, if not every student, know that sometimes scoring high depends more on how simple a lecturer decides to make the exam questions. We all know this but the double standard of " they gave me" when we score low and "I got" when we smash high will never allow us to admit the truth.

Just like my Fluid Mechanics, I also had 84 in Introduction to Electrical Engineering but won't even rate it at all because I knew the lecturer watered down the standard.

It happens all the time. Some lecturers let you off the hook while some make you sweat.

I'm inclined to think the latter handled that Thermo that recorded 97.

My highest score was in Orthoptics (OPT 573) 88,but I'd say my best result was in Ocular Pathology 2(OPT 522). made 70 on the dot with tears, sweat and blood.
Or Ocular Anatomy in my 300L that I made 6/30 in the tests and still made an A.

That's what set off my initial comments, but then, the thread is about "highest" scores which unfortunately give room for massaging of egos despite the likelihood of holes in the actual standard the grades were administered.

You're right when it comes to how lecturers treat their students. The fact is, there is this course I did in my department. The useless lecturer was even a new lecturer from Kaduna state university. it was the first ever course he took in ABU. The useless man dealth with us. I was the highest in his test and exam and still got a B. Two people got Cs, about 4 or 5 got Ds while the rest got Es and Fs in a 3 unit course.

The sad part about thay course was that I completely filled up two answer booklets of 24 pages each in the exam. It was more of a theoretical exam than claculations. The useless man scored people by paragraphs. Even if you like, fill up ten pages, if it was only a paragraph with multiple points, the goat will give half mark.
He doesn't care if you have discussed all the points necessary to generate all the marks, all he knows is that if it were in one paragraph, you get half mark.

So the reason I was even able to manage a B in the course was because I learnt a difficult lesson to always separate my points pa paragraph after seeing my test script (I think about 12 out of 30 if I'm not mistaken). Even that low score was the best in my class.

We all have our fair share of psychos masquerading as lecturers.

In that my Year 2 thermo course, the faculty dean had to order the lecturer to add 10 marks to all students yet the highest in my dept. still ended up scoring 83 A

My best should be either of the following:

Engineering Drawing (MEEN 201)
Thermodynamics (MEEN 208)
Composite (cant recall the code)
Physical Metallurgy (same)
etc.

Reason is, they never showed us our scores. Had a lot of As but there are some I knew I did extraordinarily well while some I had managed to slide into the A. I also did well in Machine Design (MEEN 301) and Machine Tools (MEEN 303). Metallurgical Thermodynamics was a slide in; say about 70 - 72, cant even recall other ones self..

Wow! Your school is good oh. In my school, or faculty pa say, even if only a few passed a course with Es, they will release tge results like that.

There's this course that more than 50 percent of my dept guys ran away from it the first time because of the demonic lecturer (Dr. Nyior, now a Prof though), 50% of us who took the course had F. I and one other guy had C. One dude scored highest with a B. 2 others had D, 8 had E while 13 had F.

The demonic fool has left ABU for Uni Agric Makurdi. The foolish bastard (very ugly looking pervert) was always good at asking all the girls for sex and they almost always refused. Most of the girls end up failing his course. He asked my ex (gf back then) for sex but she refused. She was lucky to escape his courses with Es. I know that if he had his way, he'd have failed me and the girl for no reason, but God pass am.

LoL. Now you're sounding pained. Do you in your heart of hearts feel like everyone must score low because you scored low in thermodynamics? Give me a break bro! I got an A even in the most difficult thermodynamics course I ever did in my life (Metallurgical Thermodynamics 300L) how much more the introductory part (200L).

Who are you to dictate what is standard and what is not? If I'm to go by your reasoning, then I'd say that you'd have gotten CO a coupe of times if you had done Strength of Materials in ABU (and taught by Prof Aku). Do you even have the reasoning to acknowledge the fact that people had/have preferences when it came/comes to certain courses. I loved thermodynamics and I made As (albeit a strenuous A in Metallurgical Thermodynamics) in both courses so, deal with it.

Some of us were not even given our scores so all we can do is assume we scored high in a couple of courses, especially in the ones our lecturers acknowledged us as the best in their courses.

Leave that guy and others saying you can't score so so mark in a course or a school.
Even the Control engineering he's talking about, I had 88. The least of my control scores was 84

The thing is, no matter how difficult courses are, there exists people who can go all out and blast those courses with ease..

There's this course in my department "Metallography" that was taught by Dr. Victor (now the HOD of Met n Mat Eng Dept, in UNN). Ever since he started taking the course in ABU, nobody ever made an A. I took the course, did my best both in test and exams but never expected an A since no one ever had an A in the course under Victor. I was surprised going to the notice board only to see an A on my Metallography.
