Understanding the problem. Hydrostatic lock is a failure of the internal combustion engine, where the unit can’t run due to fluid entering the combustion chamber above the piston and preventing it from completing its cycle. www.nairaland.com/attachments/5514122_mainqimg4a6032f3d90c422a9703b13474e8dd89c_jpeg18094ee8214e54b7f57b46618fbac4ff Read more here. https://www.autoevolution.com/news/engine-hydrolock-how-water-can-damage-or-destroy-your-engine-90270.html 1 Like |

The height of water this vehicle drove thru was less than 1 foot, so first thing is understanding why this happened in the first place. From the airfilter box to the Base of the car, under the front left fender is another air box, it's job is to keep the engine quiet and it has some piping arrangement How vehicle came in www.nairaland.com/attachments/5514142_img20170616115223_jpeg22b353008547f8a6ba26e9a33c19bf93 How it should be www.nairaland.com/attachments/5514145_img20170616120537_jpegb9f6f2fab506bdc3a1db25e1838f7dd7 www.nairaland.com/attachments/5514146_img20170616143843_jpeg5d17c8b0104816631349720fc8796b78 Air gets sucked in from the top close to the bonnet latch (not the bottom as anticipated earlier) via a pipe that goes all the way down to the air box. Unfortunately this vehicle had a damaged air box at the base of the fender, and it was sucking air from the bottom, close to the tyre. So basically engine sucked up water into the intake, and it ended up in the cylinder. At this point engine will stall. (possibly no damage yet) But if you notice this, try and push your vehicle out of the flooded area, remove all you spark plugs, and crank engine so all the water gets out, also remove intake manifold, an drain water Never try to Re-start vehicle. |

Engine and transmission will be taken down. It is easier to remove both at same time, less clumsy, and since engine is frozen stiff, there's no way of turning the torque converter to get to all the bolts fastening the transmission together with the engine First a coolant drain (safely into containers for re-use) Engine oil drain (really dark) Bonnet out www.nairaland.com/attachments/5514229_img20170617091140_jpeg1468bc6d584f48e8d8c057874a659174 Transmission oil drain (very brown. Re: Remotely Follow Your Vehicle Repairs Online by thebigkendo(m): 10:37am On Jun 22, 2017 |
thebigkendo: Generally, when an engine hydrolocks at speed, the force of the camshaft pushing bends the piston rods, which are folded under the piston above them. While the crankcase or the heads can be ruined in the process and the crankshaft bearings destroyed, the shock can even cause cracks in the engine block. Noted |

thebigkendo: No vehicle history, engine started fine, but mild rattle at 3000 rpm that disappears ad 4000rpm. Possible crankshaft failure, possible bearing failure, possible balanceshaft failure. Vehicle is being used and was supposed to come back yesterday for an inspection, but driver seems to have a mind of his own. |

CRV 2010 these are the 2 catalytic converters. You still have a leak on other parts of the exhaust system. Will look for a cheap patch solution for them in the morning.

Mr Gazzuz, (1) I drive a Honda Accord 03 but recently, i noticed the gear malfunction by not selecting properly. Mostly if i put on A/C in traffick, it will engage but forcefully transmit with high jack to next. (2) Is there other ATF to service this accord transmission apart from ATF DW1? Thanks |
