Housewife Offers N120,000 To Quit Marriage, Court Grants 50,000 by Godson222: 4:15pm On Jun 29, 2017 |
The estranged husband said; “Since she is bent on leaving and having spent so much on her and her family, she should pay the stated amount to secure her release.” “I have tried my best in this circumstance to see that the couple remain one, but the woman stood her grounds,” the judge said. One housewife identified as Seliat Abeeb, on Thursday in Omu-Aran, Kwara State, offered to pay the bride price of N120, 000 demanded by her husband as a condition for dissolving their five-year-old barren marriage. Seliat, 33, who lives at Ago Olushola area in Otun, had approached an Omu-Aran Court on June 14, seeking the dissolution of her marriage to Abeeb. She said: “I was forced to marry him against my will. I know quite well that my husband had spent some money on me. “I am ready to pay the N120, 000 he demanded as condition for my release. He cannot use the huge amount to deter me from leaving. “I am no longer interested in the union.” The estranged husband, Abeeb, who demanded N120,000 as a precondition for her release, had earlier pleaded with the court to assist in reconciling him with his wife but the move was vehemently refused by Seliat. Abeeb said: “Since she is bent on leaving and having spent so much on her and her family, she should pay the stated amount to secure her release,” Abeeb said. The judge, Mr Abolade Banigbe, in his ruling, said the court did its best to pacify Seliat but to no avail. “We have no option than to dissolve the union. “The case was earlier adjourned for settlement among the parties, but with the turn of event, the court has no option than to dissolve the marriage. “I have tried my best in this circumstance to see that the couple remain one, but the woman stood her grounds. “The union between them cease to exist from now,” Banigbe declared. But the judge awarded the sum of N50, 000 to be paid to Abeeb as against the N120, 000 he demanded. Mynd44 http://www.eyereport.com.ng/housewife-offers-n120k-to-quit-marriage/ |

dominique: You're very harsh oooo.... All the cleaning and washing , and cooking she don do for the man nko for 5 years? Lets even assume both of them were servicing each other. The judge was very fair. I'm sure she's leaving the man due to infertility issues. I can't hear any reason for her insisting on a divorce, so I just have to conclude it's that. 23 Likes |

Marriage nowadays in Nigeria is just as weak as Buhari's erection. God forbid.. But don't get it twisted, marriage is a beautiful thing. This should not discourage those of you that wish to get married. Just marry...if it doesn't work out, you break up chikina. At least, you would have experienced the over-rated word called 'marriage' 5 Likes 2 Shares |

Actually makes a lot of sense... If say she was cooking his meals, washing clothes and servicing his balls. The minimum wage is 18500/month means that even if she was collecting a wage of 10k, the woman worked 60 months. 50k is fair. 1 Like |

The rate at which marriages are breaking up in the country. Even though some break ups are rather morally, emotionally and mentally. I think all these are rooted in the foundation of our marriages ( courting ). People marry for the wrong reasons or through wrong selfish processes. 1 Like |

Very likely the man is actually impotent and the lady can't wait to be well serviced by someone else For the woman to refuse to be begged and be willing to pay the bride price.... plus the guy begging, i think he wanted a forever patient wife |

Another reason to be a financially independent woman. You can leave anytime. Men always fear independent women cos they know you don't need them That is how he wants to make people think the woman is barren meanwhile its him that is impotent. Wicked man! 2 Likes |
