We should concentrate on building democracy in Nigeria. A Nigeria devoid of hatred and tribalism. |

simplycarro:The 2 military coups of 1966 have many things no Nigerian is proud of, but we must not forget that it was the politicians that caused it in the first place. Remember the violence of 1965. Without that would the military have had the excise to strike? It is a lesson to civilians to always avoid overheating the polity. |

igbodefender: This is not a question of 'looking like". It was an igbo coup, pure and simple. Your attempt to rewrite history, an igbo tendency, holds no water and won't convince people with sound upstairs. Nzeogwu killed Sardauna in Kaduna, Ifeajuna tipped of Okpara to go into hiding instead of killing him, Nwaobosi killed Akintola in Ibadan, Zik connived to hand over to Nwafor Orisu who later handed over to Aguiyi Ironsi. There were reports of silent ethnic cleansing being carried out by igbo officers in the army. @Op, this sort of exercise in futility will never help your course but will only be counter-productive by inflaming pations against the igbo. Have you just woken up since 1970 ? Stop playing on peoples' intelligence or the backlash may overwhelm you. This futile attempt is nothing but arrant nonsense. 8 Likes 1 Share |

OAFMods: Gbam! Next thing they will say Nzeogwu is not igbo but from Delta State so he is not igbo, but when you say Okonjo iweala is not igbo, they will go over the roof, okay Nzeogwu is not Igbo granted for the sake of argument what about Ifeajuna and Nwaobosi, they must be from Benue, unserious fellows. 3 Likes |

SonofDevil: Guy shut ur mouth and learn something. Whatever is wrong with the youth of this generation? You dnt want to learn you just prefer being spoon fed. Have you read the book "Why We Struck" please do...it's very important, there you would know that who actually masterminded the coup was a Yoruba man. He is even alive right now. He wrote the book to alight all that transpired and the reason for the coup. It was never an igbo coup as even Ojukwu and Obasanjo then was told about the coup when they were still planning it, but they decline. It was a military coup by some group of soldiers who could not stand the way corruption and nepotism was the order of the day. The beauty of the first coup was that it was not politically motivated neither was it ethnically motivated. The reprisal attack from the hausas against the Ibos happened because the hausas worshiped Ahmadu Bello...just as they are still doing today...praying for Allah to bless their alhajis and rich men so they can be providing for them. It was just a mindset that it was an Ibo coup. It never was. |

igbodefender: The problem with the youth is that most of them did history and even read books but will still want to be deceived. To be intelligent is simply to study and understand, then determine the actuality of your study. |
Re: The January 1966 Coup Was Not An Igbo Coup- Zikistmovement.com by KingGBsky(m): 7:37am On Jun 30, 2017 |
vicadex07: Yes they celebrated... but the fact was that the northern leaders under Almadu Bello was very corrupt and his authority was all over the country and not just the north areas. The main reason why the hausas called it an Ibo coup is because they worship their leaders like they do up till now. As you can see no northerner has ever condemned Buhari for any reason.... even when most of the entire populace is against him as we are being ruled by a sick president and all that. Alright why didn't the Yorubas protested against the Ibos or killed Ibos in Yoruba land like the Hausas did. |

igbodefender: So u expect the coup plotters to call all Igbos, and inform them of the coup? After the killing of Sardauna, and Co, why did the whole Igbo nation erupt in jubilation, even across Northern cities, prdating T-shirts . Releasing a song, and depicting the killing with the St George, and d dragon picture. ..... So don't change history, the counter coup is a Northern coup to avenge the death of its leaders, so don't try to change anything. ..... 3 Likes |
