That injury really did a number on zouma.
Zouma really looked promising and was already fast tracked into the 1st eleven and even reinventing himself as a defensive midfielder before that ghastly knee injury that kept him out for about 7 months.

Normally when a player comes back from such a lengthy injury, he is gradually introduced back into the squad CONSISTENTLY, given small cameos until he regains Confidence and his psychological condition is stable again.

Unfortunately for zouma, when he came back, the team was very stable and needed no tweaking and Conte always leaves his substitutions very late coupled with the fact that the team had fewer matches than normal and the team had no injury problems.

The Culmination of the above factors made it seemingly impossible for him to be fully reintegrated into the team.

I believe that if given good playing time, zouma had a very appealing potential to be an above average defender.

to be good in the 3 man system you must be good with the ball. That is just what zouma don't know how to do first..
