Obviously, selling books, having a raffle,bazaar, harvest, doing fundraising, etc., is different from what was going on in the temple. Jesus was not necessarily angry that they were selling in the temple, but rather that selling was becoming the focus instead of God. Jesus was also angry that the money-changers were taking advantage of people, many of whom were poor, who needed their services. Doves and other animals were required for the offering, and tithes in acceptable currency were also a requirement.

Such is not the case in today’s churches. Purchases in a church bookstore, for example, are entirely voluntary. No purchase is necessary to attend worship. If a church does decide to sell something inside the church, it should make sure that the selling does not receive undue attention and does not draw away from worship and the teaching of God’s Word. Selling should also never be made “high-pressure.”

I am Catholic and I sometimes. complain about Bazaar period because it makes mass very long and you wey no get money go tire.

But the dividend of the funds are beautiful in the eyes and you would continue supporting because you can see what your money has done. My Parish has a school, hospital, home for the homeless, other good structures and finally my parish is a missionary parish in Lagos, we support other catholic church in Africa. SMA

Just as how British people would pay tax because you can account for it not like paying to Nigeria. I support Bazaar because it makes more fund to help the helpless.

Judgement belongs to Almighty God alone. Who am I, a mere mortal man to be judging others. Every man will be judged accordingly.

Some are given to the poor through the help the poor community, some are used in the church...
Catholic church are been bombed all the times and the money oda catholic churches gather from the bazaar is used in reconstructing the church!!

Harvest in Catholic churches is not done to deceive gullible congregants like some churches we see in present day Nigeria. The proceeds are channelled to mainly church building and development of small stations into parishes. Catholics are not forced even to pay tithes, it's never mandatory. Thanksgiving rather than tithing is our thing.

I doubt if u understnd wat ur eyes sees at Bazaar. The goods are mentioned at dia market price or even less, bidding is done freely so dat the most interested person on the goods pay the highest amount. No amount is forced on people and at last the money goes to d Church.

The bible is clear about the actions Jesus took and why. He drove all the traders but the bible particularly mentioned money changers and those who traded in doves[these ppl are heartless like you... yes you]. Then he went ahead to say that they turned the temple into a den of robbers. Are all traders rubbers?

Jesus was particular about the way they did their business. So even outside the church ,in our shops, if we defraud our customers or make excessive profits we are also like those den of rubbers.
