Ogbuefi2020: The eastern region was known for palm produce in the 1960s and 70s, what is happening now? currently red oil is very expensive demands cannot be met Why do we have to export palm produce? when we can process it into finished goods like creams soaps gels etc. why cant we have large farms in each senatorial districts that can curb the rising price of foodstuffs in themarket. |

Ogbuefi2020: What we need is an industrial revolution in this state. We have the coal to produce electricity. We have the man power to man this power plant we have the land water water. What we need is for the governor to take the bull by the horn. There are many investors who are willing to support him. A 500MW of coal fired plant we change the lives of every Enugu residents. It will attract both local and foriegn firms to the state. It will improve our HDI The health sector will improve SME will florish greatly as they wont bother about buying petrol again Tourism in the state will increase It will generate massive revenue for the state. It will improve the ease of doing business in the state. The list is endless. Enugu youths/residents lets wake up and demand for what is right. let the pretence stop. 1 Like |

Re: Enugu, The Pride Of The East. by Nobody: 7:03pm On Jul 03, 2017 |
Ogbuefi2020: Firstly you said that the current structure decides how states develop which is a big lie. If this structure allows some states to develop more than others, then plateau Niger and sokoto states would have been like lagos because their leaders were the ones who restructured Nigeria. Secondly you said states dont issue mining license which is true, however what happened under the past administration? Was GEJ not from southsouth? Did GEJ not issue thesame mining license under him?did we not have enough appointments under him? why did our politicians not ensure that efficient companies where issued these licenses? what happened to the ones GEJ issued? Did we not have enough people in Abuja under GEJ? You also made mention of sending power to the national grid to be shared by all. So the power plant Dangote is constructing in Lagos and kogi states will be shared by all? then you must be joking. For your information, Dangote's powerplant will power ONLY his refineries and cement business and will not be shared by ALL Nigerians. If by any chance it is sent to the national grid then during distribution, they will distribute back everything to him and hewould sell any surplus to other discos. Dangote is no "Father Christmas" Lastly you said the reason for our fall in IGR is recession. So states like Kano Kastina Kwara Ogun Oyo are all recession proof. Mind you these states all recorded massive improvements in their IGR. Funny you said nothing in Agriculture, or will FG uproot our crops? or will FG kill our livestock if we decide to raise them? You said nothing about INNOSSON cars, or will FG sanction Ugwuanyi if he buys Innosson cars? You said nothing about developing PRODA, or will FG stop him from investing in science and technology? You said nothing about having an industrial city (Abia is constructing one now) or will FG stop him from doing that? Have we not blamed FG enough? what has he done in those areas FG will not interfer in? Lets wise-up and demand for good governance. People are are not replying because 1. they never knew about some of these things 2. those who know are to ashamed to admit the truth 3. they are waiting for beautiful random pictures of the state to massage their ego that "Enugu is doing well" 3 Likes |

Ogbuefi2020: List the investments and capital projects the immediate-past Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SFG) brought to our region. Do you realise that his local community in Ebonyi state has no portable water supply. There is an endless list of blunders our leaders committed when they had the chance to make the east better, they rather used that opportunity to fill up their personal pockets. My take is this, While one group along side other regions are pressurizing FG for restructuring the other should impel our state government to sit-up. 1 Like |

Ogbuefi2020: We all love our state and the whole essence of this thread is for us to pressurize our state government to do more. Now that we have identified and accepted our past mistakes, and we are on thesame page, my questions are as follows: 1. What serious efforts are our state government, lawmakers and representatives making in other to ensure that the country is restructured? 2. What is the state governments economic plan? and how far have they gone? 3. Is there any PLAN B while we wait for the country to be restructured? 4. What efforts are our technocrats making to ensure that the future structure will not impede our growth like before. Funny we have thesame sentor representing us, what massive project has Gil Nnaji ever carried out in our district? 3 Likes |

Ogbuefi2020: Is that a new plantation or the ones planted in the 40s and 50s? What went wrong in the agriculture sector in Nigeria? In the year 2013 , Indonesia made $19b from exporting palm oil, this is more than the entire 2014 budgets of the South East, South South and Ondo (crude oil states) combined (South South N1,981trn, South East N619bn, Ondo N162bn) How is this even possible? In 1832, 75% of the global palm oil export came from Nigeria. Between 1961 and 1965 world oil palm production was 1.5 million tons, with Nigeria accounting for 43% of that production. Today, Nigeria, ranks behind Malaysia and Indonesia accounting for only 7% of world palm oil production. It’s important to add that Malaysia and Indonesia are also oil producing nations, yes they have crude oil. 1 Like |

Ogbuefi2020: If you are working with the governor or you are close to him, tell him its time to man up and make Enugu state great. Let him look for business/energy patners that will construct a coal power plant for industrial layouts in the state. Dangote is currently building a gas fired plant in Lagos for his refinery, so i dont see why we cant build our own powerplant here in enugu that will serve and attract companies around the world. Lets stop pretending as if all is well, the earlier we speak up the better for us. 1 Like |

Ogbuefi2020: Lets cease from posting those random pictures. Its a distraction from the main thing we need in the state- POWER. What we need now is electric power for industrial revolution. Let that be the only thing we ll discuss in this forum/thread until they construct one. FG alone does not reserve the right to power plant construction, because Dangote is constructing one in Lagos and one in Kogi, and these are private power plants that will power his private company and booste the economy of these states. Yet we claim we are the "Coal City State" 2 Likes |

Yea bro it's a large market but to show how weak our governor is he appointed a woman as the head of the market ( I have no issue with her being a woman) she never campaign like others nothing and dew to miss understanding and court case with the contestants the elected her as the head without the peoples consent, not up to six month in the office she double every dues in the market, nepa from 500 to 1000 security from 200 to 400 etc just last week some people that came out to protest against it she use cultists to injure them, call any unbiased person in the market to confirm this, this and more administrative lapes makes me week . davear: davear: Our leaders lack the will to act. They know the results of their action may take up to 5-8 years to show and by then they will be out of office. So they think it is politically useless for them to take the right but difficult steps for Enugu to break even and develop as a star. Gov. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi appears to have vision, but only time will tell if he has the heart of a lion to dare to develop the state through building partnerships to encourage Igbo business men scattered across the world. Enugu is one state that can get Igbos from everywhere to come and develop the state because it was our former capital and people still see it as such today. To get industrial revolution, you must take the 5 steps which worked in other countries such as China, Singapore, Malaysia etc . Enugu presently has great advantage because it has an international airport and a railway line to the ONNE port in PH for import and export services. The best site for such massive industrial zone in Enugu would be at the Ninth (9th) mile area. 1. YOU MUST SECURE A LARGE EXPANSE OF LAND FOR THE MASSIVE INDUSTRIAL ESTATE. 2. YOU MUST ADEQUATELY SURVEY & PLAN THE AREA, GET GEO-SPATIAL MAP OF THE AREA AND PLAN EVERYTHING TO THE LAST PLOT OF LAND THERE. 3. BEGIN THE INITIAL DEVELOPMENT OF THE AREA BY PUTTING IN ACCESS ROADS (JUST UN-TARRED FEEDER ROADS) TO ENABLE POTENTIAL INVESTORS COME TAKE A LOOK AT THE AREA & ELECTRICITY POLES FOR POWER 4. PARTNER WITH LOCAL AND FOREIGN COMPANIES TO BUY PLOTS AND SET UP IN THE AREA. GIVE THEM GENEROUS CONCESSIONS ON LAND AND ABOUT 2-3 YEARS TAX HOLIDAYS. 5. MOST IMPORTANTLY, GET A COMPANY TO BUILD A SMALL GAS POWER PLANT TO SUPPLY ELECTRICITY TO ALL THE FACTORIES IN THE AREA AND SUPPLY THE REMAINDER TO ENUGU CITY Ultimately, Enugu must engage the FG closely to make sure the Enugu - PH railway line is functional so that Enugu state can partner with private investors and build it's own inland container port somewhere at Agbani along the railway line. Also, more airlines (At least one European carrier eg Brussel air or Air France) are allowed to fly into AIIA especially from Europe. Air France can combine their Douala flights to include Enugu, the way they do all over Africa. Enugu must closely learn how Anambra is getting private investors in Agriculture and repeat the same process in Enugu focussing on crops where the state has immense advantage such as maize, rice, cassava, cashews, pineapples and oil palm plantations. 7 Likes |

cjrane: You are absolutely right, I once read of a governor who rejected an agricultural farm project proposed to him by some youths simply because he had less than 2 years to leave office and he (the governor) would not partake in a project he wont benefit directly from. I have heard so much about the potentials of 9th mile coner and any time I pass through that place I feel disappointed. I dont know why our people cheer on these leaders when they embark on petty projects. So how do we communicate these ideas to the governor? How do we convince our governors to embark on long term projects that ll benefit the state residents on the long run? Enugu has been a one party state since 1999, so government project continuum shouldnt be a problem. What is the state's long term economic plan? Do we have a governor-peoples forum where we can chat/discuss with the governor on issues like this? 3 Likes |

cjrane:Your points 1 - 4 has been taken care of by the Enugu Free Trade Zone, which the governor got approval and inaugurated. Visit http://www.enpowerfreezone.com/ for more. And remember, the free trade zone is planned for the future when the governor will be long gone from office point 5 is impossible, best bet is to do it Ogun way, i.e. if the gas pipeline is extended to Enugu, instead of using it to power a power plant and having FG force you to transmit to national grid, the gas can be sold directly to the industries to power their generators at very cheap price. People have advised Nestoil to do this, instead of wasting money on a power plant that will go the Geometric way. As for investment in agriculture, you need to visit Adani, Enugu was declared a Staple Crop Processing Zone (in conjunction with Anambra state, but a larger percentage by far is in Enugu) because of agricultural exploits in Adani, this is the only SCPZ in the south East |
Re: Enugu, The Pride Of The East. by Nobody: 9:37am On Jul 05, 2017 |
Ogbuefi2020: I have already discussed this "transmission to national grid and power sharing" before. Is Dangote not constructing a power plant? What kind of deal does he have with FG? Cant Enugu state go same way? Will Dangote share his power with any state? Even if Dangote connects to national grid, what his powerplant has generated would be distributed back to him and any excess would SOLD to DISCOs. 1 Like |

Ogbuefi2020:The new events going on in the ogboli region of uzouwani are the imposition of traditional rulers by ugwuanyi on the people, resultant resistance by the people and fulani herdsmen invasion. Nothing new in agriculture....the last major investment was the Songhai farmers training under Sullivan's government which was subsequently mismanaged. Stop all the media propaganda. 4 Likes |
