Yet lag contributes over 40 billion of vat to the same federal purse. So lets assume Lagos is only collecting 9 out of its 40 billion. It simply means receiving less than it contributes.

40 billion is an understatement.

What does private citizens have to do with government agencies? Did you just say this? There's a place called Silicon Valley in the USA that controls 80% of the INFORMATION SYSTEMS TECHNOLOGY for HOMELAND SECURITY. There's a company called Berkshire Hathaway along with a couple other companies responsible for mos insurance laws in America. It is only those with low business acumen that would say private citizens have nothing to do with government agencies. Why can't rich businessmen put pressure on their representatives to bring development to their communities? Must everything be so difficult in this country! The problem of closed seaport could have been fixed by 3 different presidents now but it hasn't, this tells you it has nothing to do with tribes but the wealthy people in those areas refusing to invest in their communities and rather putting all their resources in the development of Lagos. You are right about one thing, all Nigerians are suffering from the lack of seaports and it would be beneficial for everyone but make no mistake this has nothing to do with marginalization but lack of leadership and true patriots of the Niger-Delta areas!
and you're liking America to Nigeria, a place of naturalised oddity!

In Nigeria private individuals or firms do not make the rules. The body in charge of ports in Nigeria is the one and only Nigeria port authority (NPA) not even state government can meddle in this.
Everything, from airport, to seaport and railway system is Government exclusively. Not in America where Government lias with private institutions in research and partnership. The only times Government here are prepared to collaborate with private institutions is in double taxation of the citizens.
I believe the systematic neglect of other ports in the country is a deliberate move borne out of propaganda and fear of the unknown.

You are still making the same mistake, thinking business men are not active godfathers and players in government! There's no systematic marginalization anywhere, if such a thing happened then GEJ should be considered a betrayal, all the senators and house of Rep members from the South South and the South East are traitors. Why are we so afraid of the truth in this country? It is easy to play the victim card but it only takes a look inward to realize we have all been SCAMMED! The Seaports favors all Nigerians so what sense is there to close them just to spite a group of people? This is nothing but the work of WICKED and CLUELESS governments! We have had Yoruba, Hausa and Ijaw as presidents and none of them fixed it so excuse me if I don't see the marginalization here!

Why do you think they destroy every attempt by any oil companies HQ that makes plan to move back to SS.

Lagos to me is the biggest leeches. If yoruba so believe that they solely made what it is as they claim, why is that rest of SW looks like a piece of sh1t whom the government have to treat like an IDP camp.

Let's test a theory, let every oil company HQ migrate back to wherever they drill their oil from. Close down every non yoruba companies in SW and have them return back to each region they hail from, then let's wait and see the progress of Lagos.
Do u know amount custom generate from lagos port, despite the low price of crude oi in international market, the govt was able to get meaning money from IGR,
Also federal goverment starved Lagos state government of money during obasanjo era because fight between obj and tinubu, guess what lagos was able to pay salary and executive elephant project. So I don't know why you guys are talking as if you've forgotten history. Well I don't blame u because u don't have anything upstairs

If you hold GEJ responsible for not fixing the mess after staying in power for 5 years, are you exempting those whowho let the other seaports rot for decades?

Now that's hypocrisy and double standard!

The use of one seaport in Nigeria is a fallout of a flawed federal system which has become centralised. And it's a deliberate act.

Nigeria loses billions daily for using one sea port.

Is it not shameful that cars are cheaper in midget African countries with just 12 milion people? When Nigeria with nearly 200 Millon rely on countries like Benin and Togo for cheaper product?

Why not first ask yourself what Nigeria was living on before oil was discovered.

It was cocoa, rubber, ground nut and so on.

Oil did not industrialize Lagos or built all the industrial estates in Lagos, they were built with cocoa and rubber money before oil and before Independence.

Instead of crying wolf over nothing, you should be asking the the loud mouth terrorist and their leaders like ibori and Alams what they did with their allocations, derivations, NDDC, amnesty billions and so on.

Before oil, the SW was ahead and so it shall remain even after oil.

EXACTLY,

HAVE THEY ALL FORGOTTEN THAT WESTERN NIGERIA WAS THE FASTEST GROWING REGION IN AFRICA AT INDEPENDENCE?

ALSO,I OBSERVE THAT THEIR CORRUPT LEADERS ALSO ENCOURAGE THEM TO BLAME THEIR UNDERDEVELOPMENT ON LAGOS TO DISTRACT THEM FROM:

1.HOLDING THEM ACCOUNTABLE FOR THE 13% DERIVATIVES.

2.NDDC PROJECTS ACCOUNTS.

3.MINISTRY OF NIGER DELTA PROJECTS ACCOUNT.

4.WHY ASARI DOKUBO DECIDED NOT TO BUILD HIS UNIVERSITY ON IJAW SOILS.

I have never seen one ijaw man doing all the above.well, one of my ijaw friends just told me that if the federal government grant them full control of the oil that they will start killing themselves.I personally believe the fight will start between nnamdi kanu, asari dokubo and tompolo.

USA is the most indebted country in the world after which China follows yet they are the strongest economies in the world.

Owing debt is not the issue but when you have enough collateral to cover up in case of emergency yet sustainable and also enough liquidity to offset the debt within a particular period, then we can say such economy has high liquidity ratio just like lagos.

The major concern should be region with high debt but no resources/collateral/liquids to service their debts within a stipulated period.

FYI, tax/revenue from sea ports in Lagos is accrued to FG account and if restructuring occurs, we know these revenue will go to Lagos purse. So tell me how Lagos without oil won't survive. This alone is just one of few examples to clarify the fact that lagos is a different league on its own.

Oh! Have u heard of the ongoing construction of Eko Atlantic/Smart cities, refinery, monorail and other gigantic projects which will enrich the tourism/industrial/commercial benefits of the state?
