advance liar. That's what u are
easy,easy bro.
I know for sure that d older Peugeot 504s and 505s opened everything in each other. Both doors oo,ignition keys and booth.
There was a time in my family we used to have a total of 4 Peugeots, three 504s and one 505, two of d 504s being official cars from my dad's workplace.
Now,apart from one of d 504s which was brand new,PAN,any of the keys could open any other one.

Only someone who wants to commit suicide by being lynched.

I said the same in the earlier debate. The guy was silly and he didn't value his life much.

So far, majority of offenders are not the vehicle owners. Some are but not all. Some are also drunk at parties, etc

I still fail to see how a grown person that is fully functional in the society can comit this atrocity.

The closest happened about 4 weeks ago. I was leaving the Barber's shop and I was approaching my car jejely until got carried away by these two kele. As a fashion designer, I wasnt exactly carried away by their features but the design on their outfits. Unconsciously I approached the car parked beside mine and I was trying to open it all to no avail until I was back from the journey of unconsciousness then I realized my mistake. I dashed into my car and sped off cos I knew the gravity of that silly mistake in a volatile country like Nigeria

Nobody go follow you hear story ,dem go send you straight to baba God

Those saying it can never happen have not really used cars for long or don't even have at all. It happened to me. I stepped out of a shop and went straight to where I parked my ash colour Toyota corolla hatch back but there was another Peugeot 307 same colour close by, I used my remote control key and the Peugeot opened, it was when I got inside that I saw a different dashboard, I had to quickly rush out and now realized mine was in front. I really thank God that day cuz I can't say till today if people saw what happened.

Or maybe they are just conscious and have superb situational awareness.

In this day and age, what will it take to glance at number plates ? 1/2 a second?

Will you now say my plate number looked similar to yours? How can you have zero situational and environmental awareness?
Absent mindedness isn't an excuse; what if there are kidnappers in the back seat or criminals lurking nearby?

The culprit had better be a General or a Karate Black belter because if he isn't lynched, I would give him / her slaps to reset the brain to factory settings.

Do you think a thief would politely say "Yes sir, I was kindly stealing your car?"

It's like a rapist caught in the act who says "All vaginas look the same, so I mistook hers for my wife's"

in 2010, my friend n I took a pencil light camry to a bar in shogunle. it was a light gold yellow camry. at about past 11:00 we set off for home. I took d key n opened d car. I noticed it opened n my friend n I entered. on trying to kick start it I encountered challenges. my friend had noticed we were in d wrong car n tried to inform me but I sturbonly didn't listen. when I got fed up n tried to get out, d car was automatically locked n 2 guys were outside with d car remote who were locking d car each time we tried to open it from inside. it almost ensued in a fight but they later understood when we took them to our car that was just in front of theirs. d similarities were just too apparent. we still laugh over it each time we meet till date

You don't even need to, it's just common sense

It's a pity most people are allowing the problems of Nigeria affect their mentality and thinking

In a thread where a security issue is being discussed what a full fledged adult is concerned about is how many cars someone has had! That's recessional thinking!

I think it is very possible When the mind is preoccupied with something entirely different and person is not really conscious of the surrounds. At that time he/she is not actually looking but is moving with the general idea that they're supposed to get into a midsize car. They have the trim and the color at the back of their mind. If they're unlucky the lock will open. What I do not understand is how they still do not realize they're in the wrong car after getting in.

If I mistakingly enter another person's car I will know the moment I sit down no matter how pre occupied my mind could be. Not talking about someone else but for me.. I will know immediately. The mell, placement of items, stereo head unit, etc.

This is why your claim seems unattainable to these simpletons. They see owning a car as an achievement, so they go & buy the most expensive one they can afford, with the hopes of having good resale value when they want to "upgrade".

...I think I'm underestimating how bad things are in Nigeria...
Things aren't so bad amongst car owners. It's that we hardly have true enthusiasts here who see a car to be savoured for what it is & not the image of owning the "reigning" model.

PS: I don't know if he truly has owned up to 100 cars. grin

puhleaseee not everyone is stupid. if he sells cars which I know he doesnt, then do you own the car you are selling ?

and that whole I am in america thing is not working on me. I have lived in america and nigerians over there dont buy 100 cars in a span of 50 years and i have known high powered nigerians. heck my own older step brother ( over ten years older ) from my dads first wife was a dermatologist earning 500,000 dollars a year and throughout his nearly 40 years in america he has only ever owned about 10 cars in total.

lol, even me that is recession hit and started started working 7 yrs ago,I've used 7 cars since then and could've used more if not for d economy.
If U add that to d ones owned by my dad and used by me including several official cars which were freely used by me and mumsy, then it would be up to 25,not including delivery trucks for our family business.
Many Nigerians do not just have that wandering spirit when it comes to cars and d economy too is another thing.Personally, though I use a W204 Mercedes now,I've not stopped eyeing d W202,peugeot 505 V6 and year 2000-2002 toyota 4 runner among a host of others which are relatively very cheap cars but d economy won't let me.

Some car keys tend to open each other but wont start each other.

This is common with honda Accord models of the 90s.

I don't know if Y'all think it's magic, I opened someone else car before,
A client came to our office for inverters and battery, so the man gave me his car keys to drop the batteries in the boot,
I gat downstairs drop the batteries (4 of it) in the car,
Only for the man to go down and call that the batteries are not there,
Turn out I opened a wrong car with the keys,
We had to wait for the owner to come, the man don't believe it and asked me to open again,
Click, it opened , we all had a good laugh about it

I swear this was real, I really can't forget cos each battery is worth 135k

Visit winners chapel ota or Abuja, in fact any of those large churches on Sundays with your Toyota corolla. First you would see 20 other cars similar to yours and probably miss out yours to start another one.

It's very possible... it happened to me personally some years back.. I came back to my hometown from where I'm based to see my parents.. later that evening I drove out with my father's as of then car to have some drinks with some old friends I hadn't seen in a long time.. I packed the car, went into the joint, had a few bottles n it was time to go home. I opened an exact car as my fathers' , but what struck me was when I started the ignition, the car jecked and stopped.. I wondered y, I looked at the gear level n noticed that it's no longer the automatic stick but now a manual stick... I looked at my left only to see my fathers car by the side.. I jumped out of the car unnoticed, went into my own car n zoomed off.. still thanking my God till today cause if someone saw me it could probably been a very different story by now..

It's actually over 100, I would have to go into my spreadsheet for specific figure of which I track.

There are 5 vehicles in the garage as I type, 2 joined in June.

4 days ago, I called Taxify and saw the assigned vehicle was a Toyota Camry 2009 model. I made my way outside my gates, opened the back door of the car and peered in; only to see a lady seated behind the steering wheel with the most startled look on her face. As I withdrew, I apologised profusely explaining my mistake...then, my called cab appeared. Same Camry model. Sigh. embarassed

I have also wondered same until I came out of a joint at night, walked straight to a similar car like mine , used my key to open the door and was fumbling with the ignition when I now realized that some guys sitting in the dark and observing me were talking to me " Oga no be your car be that see your car for front". The owner of the car was also there observing.
God save me say these guys sabi me for street if not they will think I was a car thief.
As for the feeling that it's a different car, I actually felt it yet I was still more occupied with why the car will not start.
Shit happens sometimes.
E never happen to you no mean say you too smart to avoid am.

Its not about d money oga.
Some ppl are just 'restless/wanderers' once it come to cars.
The cars might not necessarily be expensive or very modern cars and it gets easier if u live in a place like America where cars are cheap and U don't have to battle with shipping fees or our prohibitive customs duties.
