In one stand, you accuse Yorubas/Lagos of monopolizing ports activities and in another you claimed only the FG can regulate ports activities. Which one should we believe now? Fearlez: 4 Likes |

oyatz: 1. I'm not Igbo by tribe. 2. I don't believe relocating HQs will make Niger Delta any better because D Niger Deltans used their own hands to push these companies out by bombing & kidnapping D expatriate workers. 3. Lagos state is what it is today because they have always had good leaders, that use their allocation to build D region. Now answer my questions. If Nigeria did not have oil will these oil companies be existing? If they divide Nigeria today will all those HQs not return to Niger Delta? Will the Lagos state be able to enjoy the oil tax from the oil companies? If Niger Deltans start blowing up oil pipeline will Otedola not feel it financially? If Nigeria is divided today will those Nigerians & government official that have oil blocks still have it? I will say this again, directly or indirectly, every region has gained and will continue to gain from the Niger Delta oil. |

Please sir, get education 1)Your assertion is not correct. 2) Oil is a commodity of trade and there is no crime is investing in the oil business. Even after disintegration, those people will still be in oil business just as foreigners still dominate Nigerian oil industry. 3)Not every oil is Niger Delta oil. Importation of diesel and kerosene from Venezuela, Brazil or Morocco and distributing it all over Nigeria have nothing to do with Niger Delta oil... Even every body in the Niger Delta depend on IMPORTED OIL 4) Stop listenin to Radio Biafra, sart your own oil companies and stop complaining Cheers BigIyanga: 1 Like |

The problems with people like you is that, you get high with a dangerous blend of politics, tribalism, ignorance and pseudo-economics. Politics and tribalism (sustained on ignorance) mix well but but not with economics. 1) The oil companies HQs are not even in Nigeria to start with. 2) If Nigeria divides to whatever number, the oil in the Niger delta will still have to be drilled, explored and exported by those who have the capital, technical experience and managerial capacities, not necessarily Ijaw,Itshekiri, Ogoni or Ikwerre tribal chiefs or militants... This is the reason why we still depend on multinational oil companies to extract the oil in Nigeria. 3)Oil companies don't have to be in only countries that have crude oil Are you aware there are many crude oil refineries in India and Singapore with out one litre of crude oil? Oil refineries are like cassava processing mills, they can be located anywhere in as much as the owners can get cassava from any markets to process... Oil refineries can purchase crude oil from international market ,refine it and sell the products anywhere they like, it doesn't have to involve Niger Delta. 4) Otedola deals with downstream sector of the oil I.e importing and distribution of petroleum products...bombing of oil pipelines will rather increase his wealth because electricity supply will drop and more people/companies will depend on (Imported) diesel to run heavy duty generators. 5) Distingeration of Nigeria will make Lagos richer than what it is now...its a topic for another day/post. The investments of Dangote, Abdulsamad Rabiu and T.Y Danjuma dwarf the investments of Igbo's in Lagos and I have never seen a northerner shouting they own 50% (abi na 85%) of the economy of Lagos or declaring that Lagos has become a no man's Land. laudate: 4 Likes |

Just like Abuja is just fine & developed with oil money that same way Lagos was developed with oil money. If U think I'm wrong tell your people to make Ibadan, and Ekiti the next Lagos. |

Well, its not my fault that those who drop out from SS-1 to become apprentice to spare parts traders at Ladipo market can't understand economics 1) I am not a tribal bigot but it may interest you to know that (a) Free education in Nigeria started in Ibadan in 1955 b) Free Maternal and child health services started in Ibadan in 1955 c) First television station in Africa, Western Nigeria Television, WNTV, Ibadan in 1959 d) First housing estate in Nigeria, Bodija estate, Ibadan in 1956 e)First modern stadium in Nigeria, Liberty stadium,Ibadan in 1960 f) First Sky scrapper in Sub Saharan Africa, Cocoa house, Ibadan in 1964. g) Odua textiles was built in Ado-Ekiti in the 1950s before any textile factory in Lagos 2) Lagos is NOT Ekiti/Ibadan and Ibadan or Ekiti can NOT be Lagos... Every town/State is unique. 3) Akwa-Ibom, Rivers and Delta States receive greater federal allocation than Lagos. 4) Your understanding of development and oil economy is grossly limited. 5) Get education sir, its never too late misano: 5 Likes |

[s] joeyfire:[/s] Cater bridge or not, Lagos was already developed before Nigeria as a country, before oil and Lagosians were crossing from island to mainland before oil and before all the rubbish you are foaming at the mouth with. Lagosians know how to build their own bridge regardless the FG, they built the best bridge in Nigeria, which one your useless village leaders built. FG left Lagos decades ago and Lagos's economy gathered steam, IGR is more than all your ipob villages combined many times over, Lagos have commissioned hundreds of projects since without the FG so what have your own worthless villages leaders commissioned? Nothing. They beg for bridge, they beg for airport, they beg for handouts, the cry for road. You people are like little babies without any capacity to tie their own shoes or brush their own teeth. Abeg, shut up and face your useless and unproductive villages and worthless beg beg leaders. 7 Likes |

oyatz: On top of that, Dangote dropped $15 billion investment in Lagos. He's building the largest single refinery in the world, the largest fertilizer plant in Africa, largest petrochemical plant in Africa and the Largest gas plant in Africa. We are talking about the largest private investment in Africa and the man goes about his business like a matured ans sensible adults, but not these empty and shallow chest beating villagers, let them build a little 4 x 4 kiosk somewhere and before you know, they'd start beating chest that they are the riches and they own everything. These are antisocial people with serious low self esteem and insecurity issues. And talking about Dangote refinery, the sky is the limit for Lagos state, their N30 billion/month IGR today go look like small change when the bucks starts rolling in less than 2 years from now. 7 Likes |

oyatz:No state govt makes money from the federal govt-owned seaports. They are on the federal govt exclusive legislative list. The new seaport being built at Lekki Free Trade Zone was spearheaded by Lagos State govt, and it is not even operational yet. Lagos state was allowed to take up some small shares in it, because they provided the land, investment partners and solicited for the funds to cover the project. They still had to get fed govt approval to raise the funds. Given the strategic place of Lagos State in the political economy of Nigeria, our brief most certainly goes beyond thinking for Lagos State alone. We must necessarily be involved in thinking for Nigeria; significantly influencing public discourse and helping to evolve national laws that can best accelerate the country’s progress. In an attempt to widen the scope of derivation, Lagos State argued in the Resource Control Case that natural resources meant any material in its natural state which, when exploited, has economic value. On that basis, Lagos State laid claim to a share of revenue derived from its ports and wharves on the basis of derivation. 2 Likes |

No city/ Statedevelop because of one single reason and development is not static, it is very dynamic... That's why a fishing village of Dubai in 1960 can be a World class city in 2017. Lagos' development is due to a complex interraction of the forces of its GEOGRAHY, lts people &leaders and Political fortune. Why was Lagos made the Capital of Nigeria upon almagamation in 1914, why not Onitsha, Port Harcourt, Benin city, Warri or Ilorin?.. Aug 6,1861: Lagos treaty of cession signed between the British Government and Oba Dosunmu of Lagos, so Lagos already had British administration between 1861- 1914 (53 years) and was more developed than the rest of Nigeria. Before 1914, Lagos had street lights, drainage systems, telephone, electricity, postal services, hospitals, schools, churches & mosques, shops and a fairly educated populace . Get education, read widely, be an informed mind...its in your best interest. Cheers. misano: 1 Like |

What about Dr. Ambrose Bryant Chukwueloka Ojiako of Seplat Petroleum, or Nkechi Obi of Techno Oil, or Ernest Azudialu Obiejesi of Neconde Energy, or Lulu Briggs of Moni Pulo, where do they make their money from?
