INEC is the only body authorised by law to verify recall signatures and it is very unfortunate that the senate is trying to stampede the body from carrying out its constitutional assignment. Once INEC is satisfied and the process is concluded, Melaye remains recalled and there is nothing that Ekweremadu and his fellow good for nothing senators can do about it.

DSP Ekweremadu is a disgrace to the senate. How on earth would someone in custody of constitution be saying such a thing.

During plenary on July 4th, Dino Melaye, Senator represnting Kogi West raise the the issue of his recall battle from his constituency accusing the Kogi state governor, Yahaya Bello of sponsoring the wasteful process.

In his response, The DSP, Ike Ekweremmadu said the process is dead on arrival, according to him, It's a long process and that the senate would also verify the legitimacy of the votes before a conclusion is made.

My take on this issue is, there was no time that the people of Kogi west ask for Dino to be recalled. I live in Kabba the headquarters of Kogi west senatorial district, it still amaze where they got those figures from. 52%, I run an ngo and does not belong to any political party but Dino has been a worthy representative, though he has his drawbacks, we all do. He sponsor quality motions which includes The federal university of agriculture Kabba, which has passed second reading, the award of Kabba -- Ilorin road, Kabba - Obajana road is under construction. He has also raised many motions in the Senate that benefits the ordinary Nigerian. How can the governor who refuses to tar a single road in Kabba want to recall our senator. The good Lord will help us to frustrate it in Jesus name Amen

The process is too long and windy. There's no way it can be successfully done.

This is the first of its kind in the history of Nigeria political atmosphere. And this is really sending a strong signal to the rests of the NA. They're afraid now.
Let me confess, like most Nigerians, I never expected the process to get to this stage. Even if the process stops here today, precedent had already been set.
But fortunately, the process is still progressing. And not only Dino is afraid now, Ekwuremadu is afraid too.

Wasn't the process that put him in national assembly political? Wasn't the same political arrangee that made him got primary ticket in the APC? Now that he has become a lost course to those godfathers that put him there, they saw the need to show him what they are capable of doing.
It is very funny that many still believe that it is just battle between Dino and the governor. No. Governor is just a frontier, APC leaders are behind this thing.
