Believe13: If your planned two weeks trip is extended by one week or more, that shouldn't give you nightmare. You should rather ensure your purpose of stay in the U.S is well established and clearly defined. This is how it works. At POE, the CBP officer's collects your passport for visa check, takes your fingerprints and photograph for biometrics and identification process. Your supporting documents e.g Return Ticket, Hotel Booking Confirmation and Invitation Letter are inconsequential to the officer at POE. In the event that the officer at POE cannot verify your information, you will be directly to “secondary inspection" without causing delay to other arriving passengers. Secondary inspection allows team of officers to conduct additional research in order to verify your information. There; your Return Ticket, Hotel Booking Confirmation, Invitation Letter e.t.c becomes very consequential for verification process. 2 Likes |

The VO was not a wizard to have known your husband lives abroad, it was the information you supplied. i guess you did not prepare for this question of "how did your husband get there?" this your response is now in there computer, i guess you really need to work hard on the defence subsequently. fpeter: 1 Like |

Hi Good morning everyone Please kindly help me out on this Hubby, I And the kids applied for the B1/B2 visa and our interview is very near. Now Hubby is not in Lagos at the moment to attend the interview. Can I go for the interview with the kids alone? What are the likely questions the VO might ask as regards this. And I hope this won't jeopardize our chances of getting the visa. We have been to Kenya, Ghana and South Africa as family. Thanks as I await response from our experience gurus. |

fpeter: It's just a logical reasoning. The Consul asked to know how your husband acquired the citizenship or nationality of that country and you answered "political asylum" "Political asylum is defined as the right to live in a foreign country, and is given by the government of that country to people who have to leave their own country because they are in danger of persecution" OP didn't encourage you should lie, but with the definition I put up there and the Consul know full well that if a man (head of household) becomes a target, the wife is directly affected. You have a lot to explain in your next application and you must convince the next VO why you failed to abscond with your husband when the "bad people" were after his life. 4 Likes |

FrontPageLawyer: I said we met abroad, that is after he had been living there for years. Not that we got married and then he traveled afterwards. |

Nikky111:Yes you can with the kids. Explain to the VO that work took hubby away and he'll reschedule when he's back in town. No it won't jeopardize your visa chances. It's still 50:50 depending on your ties |

fpeter: Political ASYLUM that is a big red flag for that matter, yet both of you are married and you are still here, the husband who is supposed to be responsible to you flee and left you behind and you expect the VO not to see you as a potential Asylumee! If am permitted to use that word. If I may ask, when did your husband obtain his naturalisation and when did you both get married? How come all the while you were married your husband did not file for you for residence at least for both of you to live as couples?, even oyinbo support husband and wife to live together as couples except they are separated then they live apart. This your case get as e be, I will advise you get your residence in the country where your husband is and apply for the USA visa from there if you really want to visit usa. All the best 3 Likes |

fpeter: Proof of "family ties" is a determinant when visa officers are reaching for a decision. Before you reaply, ask yourself what are some of the reasons that would compel you as an applicant to return to your country. It will be very difficult to prove your family ties to the VO reason is because, your husband lives many milesssssss away from you and how he Naturalized to another country through "Political Asylum" is a major concern to the visa officers. I'm sorry, but only a "Father Christmas-like" VO can approve your application if your story/status remain the same. |

fpeter:Ouchhhhh See the ish here. Your family has a history of seeking for asylum. I assume your husband is Nigerian? U haven't gone to file to join him. You are still in Nigeria. to qualify for asylum you have to be in that country and coming from the offending country. I hate to break this to you but the burden of proof tall. U have to apply from UK after u get status. #myopinion as usual 2 Likes |

fpeter:Fpeter, Nairaland remains the best forum for Visa enlightenment. Here, you meet people from different field of study who are ready to help anytime. I "think" you used an agent during your registration and equally followed his/her advice or maybe you're new on this forum. Don't worry, you have found the right thread......Nairaland. I want to make you understand that if you had reach out to people here for a mock interview prior to the real interview, you would not have answered that way. While it is important to tell the truth, it must also be told in the best way/form. So, keep learning from here until you re-fire. I wish you well, just like I would wish myself in your future interview. Goodluck. 2 Likes |

As much as this page is very helpful and enlightening i must say that a lot of 'advisers' here are very rude and unnecessarily so. If you must contribute to a matter please read and ask questions before jumping into conclusions. I read a lot of so called "advice" here that were downright rude and uncalled for. If you have chosen to help people then stick with that otherwise don't garnish your so called advice with thinly veiled insults. Not getting a visa today doesn't mean a ban or the end of the world so please stop using derogatory terms on people you know nothing about. 11 Likes |

1. DID YOU ACTUALLY SAY THIS - "I have never heard need to travel" 2. WHAT IS "INTRODUCTORY ANALYSER SEMINAR" ? 3. WHAT IS YOUR OCCUPATION AS FILLED IN YOUR FORM? 4. WHY DID YOU SAY THIS - "6 years, 1 month &23days today"...6 years would have been okay. daveplaza: 4 Likes |
