MrMcJay: Osey the law, Mr know it all. Does that even sound logical to you. Even if, let anyone accused of anything go and clear his name. I have nothing against Prof Elujoba, but Nigerians must learn to stop defending others blindly. Let the man go and clear himself. |

wellmax: What do you think he's doing in Court, frying akara? If you want to argue, argue like an enlightened person and not a 100 level Faculty of Law dropout of an illegal university. Elujoba ran into trouble by drawing the remunerations of a substantive holder of his office while he was acting as well as paying the backlog of allowances to staff. Also, he did so without the prior approval of the the FME and Governing Council. 5 Likes |

wellmax: Mr Man.... you are the one spewing trash. Together with everyone who has commented against the former VC. This is a man who brought sanity to OAU when a serious crisis was on ground. He cleaned up the messy acts of the omole administration that was riddled with corruption and embezzlement. If you doubt me, ask anybody in OAU, be it student, teaching and non teaching staff, even the popular town igboro drivers felt his impact. This is a witchhunt orchestrated by the Omole-Salami group. Even the current VC was fully onground at the court proceedings to render support for Elujoba. #FreeElujoba 7 Likes |

MrMcJay:Senseless trash again. If Elujoba hasn't done anything wrong, that is left for the court to decide. You explaining it away doesn't make any sense. No sense at all. |

GambaOsaka: Sanity? Only because he was able to pacify the unions by getting their (our!) allowances paid from wrong sources. This kept the union's dogs of war at bay for a while, but at the cost of truly messing up the system to the extent that university administration became beholden to non-teaching staff unions! I had high hopes for Elujoba when he took office, but he messed up. Not in terms of corruption, but in terms of (no other word) ineptitude. If you doubt me, ask anybody in OAU, be it student, teaching and non teaching staff, even the popular town igboro drivers felt his impact. There is more to university administration than seeking popularity by paying staff allowances using a university's endowment funds(!!!) among other things. Rejecting qualified hands for leadership posts because they had good working relationships with Omole, and placing (in many case) inept people at the helm of affairs?? Believe me, OAU was well on the way down, even as staff basked in the afterglow of the N300,000 allowance. This is a witchhunt orchestrated by the Omole-Salami group.I personally suspect the initial report must have indeed come from them. Unfortunately for Elujoba, there was something to it, and so, whatever the original reason for the EFCC's spotlight, there is *definitely* substance for the case to stand on. Do you know he came within a cat's whiskers of being fired by the Minister for the payment of those allowances? Contrary to the myth spread by the unions, the minister's ire was not because he paid his staff money, but because he raised the money from sources any sane administrator would not touch. Part of the sources of the allowances paid: millions in endowment donations paid by Adeboye and others, money held for research and special purposes by the Grants and Agencies unit. That's irresponsible! I truly liked Elujoba at the beginning. And, believe me, I am not an Omole man by any stretch of imagination. But when Elujoba started making unguarded utterances, I started realizing he was a poor administrator. He joined the unions in smearing the names and reputations of his predecessors, but is it not strange that till today, there is no case against any of them, even though Elujoba and his people had access to all university records for over a year?? #FreeElujoba I support you on this. Free him. Not because what he did was not (at least) textbook misappropriation, but because he did it ignorantly, and his emergence did indeed douse tensions at a time when it seemed OAU might be razed to the ground. 1 Like |

wellmax:He is already in court and will defend himself. It is because of people like you who do not know facts of case and how it is being twisted that we are having a repeat of the Yaradua era. The previous Vice Chancellors stole the University blind and the EFCC did not prosecute them because they were on the side of power. The person that brought sanity to the institution and saw to the well-being of the workers is now being prosecuted. You will not comment on such imbalance in administration of justice but you deem it fit to accuse people of defending him blindly. The people who are on ground in Ile-Ife are well acquainted with the case and do not need the court of law to tell them what they already know. It is a clear case of of perversion of justice when the EFCC will arraign someone for paying staff salaries and collecting furniture allowance while those who looted the university blind are walking freely. 1 Like |

wellmax: Mr man... Think before you type. You don't have to advertise your ignorance, we know you are ignorant already, so save yourself the stress. We , the stake holders of OAU, are out to enlighten the public on the truth because we are part of the system and we don't want the public to be misguided, by ignorant elements like you of course, on the person of Prof. Elujoba and OAU at large. Never has there been any strong unity between ASUU and NASU as it was in Elujoba's time. He paid a backlog of unpaid arrears that was just lying in the school's account (waiting to be devoured by thieves). He actualized the promotion of hundreds of staff memebers, both ASUU and NASU . Promotion that has lingered for several years. He exposed to staff members some hidden funds that are available for research, staff development etc He ensured the improved living standards of students. Most times he personally went to dirty toilets in Awo, Fajuyi, and PG halls to supervise the work. At the end ...... you open your mouth and said you know his family "personally".... ehnnn go use that one collect money from bank... mtshew. I've never seen a VC leave office and people clamouring for him to stay put and not leave. 4 Likes |

Dotng: Elujoba and the unions had access to the university's records for over a year. Where is the irrefutable evidence of the malfeasance of the past administration? I for one waited gleefully for such, until it became obvious that we were just partaking in the baseless smearing of the reputations of others. Before you talk, do you realize that many of the innuendos against Omole and co centered on cash advances? Why don't you find out how Saint Elujoba and co funded the last convocation? |
Re: Former Acting Oau Vc Remanded In Custody by proffemi: 8:47am On Jul 08, 2017 |
GambaOsaka: GambaOsaka, you are probably a non-teaching staff, and I agree with you that Elujoba empowered the unions like never before. But those who truly understand were getting worried about how things were going. Abuse Omole all you wish, but do you know Elujoba's funraising drive for the University was almost zero level? I agree with you that many long-delayed promotion cases were resolved. Any sensible VC not named Omole (who had a serious hubris problem) would have done same, I think. |

Re: Former Acting Oau Vc Remanded In Custody by Dotng: 8:50am On Jul 08, 2017 |
proffemi:Yes, there is no case against them. Just as there has not been any case against, IBB, Atiku, Goodluck and Patience Jonathan. But does that mean that they did not steal or that their is no political will to prosecute them? |
Re: Former Acting Oau Vc Remanded In Custody by proffemi: 8:55am On Jul 08, 2017 |
GambaOsaka: I laugh. I am close to some of the people who wrote those reports. I have of course read them. Let me give you just one example. A lot of todo was made about Salami embezzling (I think) ten million naira from the one of the distance learning programs. The man came out with a strong rebuttal that showed that (a) the task force did not interview him (b) the funds in question were appropriated for URC grants (c) the disbursement was even approved and reflected in minutes of meetings!!! You see, I am one of those who were (are) totally unconvinced that Salami could be a good OAU VC (I have my reasons). But unsuitability for the job is one thing, and character assassination is quite another. |

proffemi: You seem to have a favourable disposition to the renown Prof. Omole , whose administration was known to be corrupt. I'm not surprised because I know we have people that support the Omole - Salami factions in ASUU. Mind you, I'm not a non-teaching staff as you assumed. I just KNOW THAT SOMEDAY ... JUSTICE WILL PREVAIL. |

TheHistorian:This is not healthy for any system that has genuine interest in seeing a much less corrupt system. Corruption fight should be regardless of the personality behind it. |
Re: Former Acting Oau Vc Remanded In Custody by proffemi: 9:07am On Jul 08, 2017 |
GambaOsaka: Favorable disposition to Omole? Not at all. Check my post history. Prof. Femi is rabid about high-quality education, and nothing else. Omole was a proud, pompous individual whose hubris was painful to see, and whose arrogance far outreached the quality of his scholarship. Salami was (in my opinion) a little smarter than Omole, but was too much of a schemer. I saw the schemings of his group, and saw the many people earmarked for various positions, and knew that if they got to actualize their plans, OAU was screwed. So, no, I am not a supporter of either man. However, as I have said, my only problem is that they were made to suffer undeserved character assassination, and many of the things they were accused of, Elujoba and his administration did the same! Do you even know that Elujoba's Director, VC's office ran into trouble within that 1 year? 2 Likes |

proffemi:Why do we have some many case of corruption in this country and no body has been brought to justice? I posit that a number of this corrupt people have been able to cover their tracks by spreading the loot. The lack of growth and development in the midst of the plenty is a sure indication of the overwhelming impact of corruption. Yet nobody is jailed except the nobodies. If this is no corrected it will lead to an uprising. This is likely the reason Jerry Rawlings killed all the former leaders in Ghana. I am not advocating such but there is a law of cause and effect. |

Re: Former Acting Oau Vc Remanded In Custody by proffemi: 9:16am On Jul 08, 2017 |
Dotng: But you are smart enough to know that this is not true na. Elujoba got around a dozen task forces to pore though the University's records for weeks, with unfettered access to everything. Their reports should have been the smoking gun evidence we needed to confirm the malfeasance. And yet, one by one, the allegations in the reports were nullified (in many cases, with documentary evidence). In other words, if the evidence existed, nothing whatsoever stopped it from coming out! |

I always wonder if people still have faith in the judiciary system in Nigeria when they say "He should defend himself in court." Do you truly believe it's going to be fair. The powers that be determine who is convicted and who is set free. 1 Like |

GambaOsaka: Proffemi, has been objective so far, his post tells of man who doesn't allow his dislike for a man lead him to unjustifiable character assassination of such fellows. Strengthening the unions beyond imaginable control is a recipe for disaster especially the non teaching staff. My experience so far. 4 Likes |

proffemi:We all know how the system works. Mafia bosses are rarely jailed for the vices they commit through others. A number of them are jailed for being in possession of money that they did not pay taxes on. Those that know where the bodies are buried have disappeared or are part of those that will influence the probe or have exploited the weakness of the system to cover their tracks. Usually, those who are caught are those who are not smart. |
