good day all. i have 2pcs 200watts mono panels and 1pc 160w mono panel. i plan to buy one more panel to make it 4pcs. i use a 30A epever mppt controller for my 24V inverter with 2pcs 200amps AGM batteries. pls what is the best option for me here should i buy a 250w panel to connect in series (250w+160w), then another series (200w+200w). or i should just buy another 160w panel and pair it with 200w panel each. |

Valto: Kindly post the 200Watts and 160Watts specifications.. for better assistance.. A quick rundown of how to connect mismatched panels 1. Different wattage, same Vmp, different Imp.... Best connection is parallel... 2. Same wattage, different Vmp, different Imp..... Best connection is series... 3. Different wattage, different Vmp, same Imp .... Best connection is series... 4. Different wattage, different Vmp, Different Imp... No suitable connection.... 4 Likes |

Dam5reey:the panel are already on the roof, will be quite hectic to get there. the 200w are SUNSHINE product, while the 160w is FOCUS product |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Dam5reey(m): 5:02pm On Jul 08, 2017 |
Valto: How did you connect the panels? It's quite difficult to assume the specs and how to connect an additional panel |

Dam5reey:i connected the 3 by series before, now i want to buy an additional panel and then do a 2×2 connection |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by earthrealm(m): 5:46am On Jul 09, 2017 |
Valto: since ur setup is small.... the simplest option is get another 160w n then do a 2x2 connection.........but if you think long term..laying aside the 160w n buying 2 units of matching 200w is the best..u can sell off the 160w panel. ur 30amp cc max pv input shud b around 700 or 750...thus u shud b fine with hving 800w setup 1 Like |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Dam5reey(m): 6:43am On Jul 09, 2017 |
earthrealm: My thought too, sell the 160W.. then get new 2 200W panel of the same specs.. It's better to have 400W and 400W strings, rather than 400W and 320W strings.. Connecting a 160w or 250W may reduce the efficiency of the whole system if not correctly connected... |

The raining season is here in Abuja. Though not flooded like Lagos anyway. Not so good for Solar. My setup has been struggling to suck energy from the sun. Think this is the time to further cut down on my daily consumption. Didn't know raining season can be this bad but its still manageable. I learn everyday but am grateful to be on RE. I have saved a lot of money. it was the best decision. 1 Like |

Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Valto(m): 5:51pm On Jul 09, 2017 |
Dam5reey:thanks. funds is limited. i can only afford to buy just one more panel for now. will be hard to see a buyer for the 160W panel because of location. i really need to get atleast 800w of panels, that's why i was thinking of buying a 250w |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Dam5reey(m): 6:36pm On Jul 09, 2017 |
Valto: It's better to wait till you get funds, than to have 800w array, producing 600watts... If you can try get the specs of the existing panels, this will help the decision since you have an MPPT controller. 1 Like |

Please house I urgently need your help. I need to buy a 24v pure sine wave inverter at most 1.5kva capacity. I am currently considering a BTS inverter which I saw on Konga and Jumia, please is that a good inverter? Which other one can you recommend. Thanks. 1 Like |

The team is going back to Port Harcourt this week to install another Victron Quattro 8000. We are also delivering a pressure tank to our customer. No need for an over head tank to produce water. They will always have water on demand. They can use a much smaller well pump (sumo). Complete Solutions. One more way AWPS Renewable Energy, LTD; Nigeria's #1 provider of premium quality solar power keeps our customers happy and satisfied. One more way we stay ahead of the competition. 3 Likes

chris81964: SO THE PUMP KICKS IN ONCE IT DETECTS A PRESSURE DROP?...SO YOU NEED POWER 24/7 the tank is small like 50liters..so probablly serves as a buffer or temp storage, |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by chris81964(m): 7:09pm On Jul 11, 2017 |
earthrealm:It holds 160 liters that is under pressure. The pump can be much smaller less than half hp. The pump kicks in at a predetermined level set by you. Yes you need 24/7 power and that is what we provide 2 Likes |

chris81964:Chris, Thanks for this, i personally hate overhead tank stands. They're really an eyesore on the skyline. At 160 litres, the submersible pump will cycle several times per day/night. At such high cyclic use, your client might need 2 or 3 pumps on hot standby cos of potential high failure rate. A holding GP tank will reduce that cycling. The oversimplified sketch below is how I'd implement it. 2 Likes
