Is Christianity and Islam really related?


I am working on a thesis which I hope will be syndicated by some global newspapers in which I will highlight the similarities between Christians/Catholics and Muslims.

Let me just name a few here

-Both dress alike;
The priests' cassock and the mallam's jellabia, the reverend sister's veil and the female Muslim's hijab.

-Both pray with a chaplet:

-Both intermittently squat/kneel/bow during prayers.

-Both are very resolved in their beliefs and almost fanatical with it:
It's almost impossible to convince them to drop their doctrine and reconsider yours. They go all lengths to defend their beliefs.

-Both have a lenghty fast at a specific period:

The Catholics have the Lenten period where they fast for 40-46 days and are supposedly holy till after the fast when they return to status quo, this fast culminates into Easter; same as the Muslims who fast for 30days in the month of Ramadan and just like the Catholics observe an abstenance from iniquity and some type of meat, this fast as well culminates into the Eid el Fitri

Both could get very irate and potentially dangerous if you question the tenets of their doctrine.

Islam reject all the basic pillars of christianity like the trinity,divinity of jesus, the crucifixion, the death of jesus,his resurrection.etc the similarities you mentioned is only for the fact that both Islam and christianity are from thesame culture hearth ( the Eiddle East)

Then the factions differed [concerning Jesus] from among them, so woe to those who disbelieved - from the scene of a tremendous Day.
[19. Maryam, Verse 39]
And warn them, [O Muhammad], of the Day of Regret, when the matter will be concluded; and [yet], they are in [a state of] heedlessness, and they do not believe.


2) DEATH AND CRUCIFIXION
[4. An-Nisa, Verse 157]
And [for] their saying, Indeed, we have killed the Messiah, Jesus, the son of Mary, the messenger of Allah . And they did not kill him, nor did they crucify him; but [another] was made to resemble him to them. And indeed, those who differ over it are in doubt about it. They have no knowledge of it except the following of assumption. And they did not kill him, for certain.
[4. An-Nisa, Verse 158]
Rather, Allah raised him to Himself. And ever is Allah Exalted in Might and Wise.

3) JESUS IS NOT GOD
[5. Al-Maeda, Verse 72]
They have certainly disbelieved who say, Allah is the Messiah, the son of Mary while the Messiah has said, O Children of Israel, worship Allah , my Lord and your Lord. Indeed, he who associates others with Allah - Allah has forbidden him Paradise, and his refuge is the Fire. And there are not for the wrongdoers any helpers.

4) TRINITY[5.
Al-Maeda, Verse 73]
They have certainly disbelieved who say, Allah is the third of three. And there is no god except one God. And if they do not desist from what they are saying, there will surely afflict the disbelievers among them a painful punishment.

5) ON THE DAY OF JUDGMENT
[5. Al-Maeda, Verse 116]
And [beware the Day] when Allah will say, O Jesus, Son of Mary, did you say to the people, 'Take me and my mother as deities besides Allah ?' He will say, Exalted are You! It was not for me to say that to which I have no right. If I had said it, You would have known it. You know what is within myself, and I do not know what is within Yourself. Indeed, it is You who is Knower of the unseen.
[5. Al-Maeda, Verse 117]
I said not to them except what You commanded me - to worship Allah , my Lord and your Lord. And I was a witness over them as long as I was among them; but when You took me up, You were the Observer over them, and You are, over all things, Witness.
[5. Al-Maeda, Verse 118]
If You should punish them - indeed they are Your servants; but if You forgive them - indeed it is You who is the Exalted in Might, the Wise.

Took a long time coming

Judaism, Christianity and Islam share the same origin in Abrahamic and Jewish cultures and practices. Hence the similarities.

Modern day christianity believe Jesus' Grace covers everything. Hence no unified established modus operandi for worship. With every spiritual leader of every church supposedly directed by the holy spirit as ordained by God.

A christian is not one who believes in God, but one who believes in Jesus. And Jesus said "I am the ressurrection and the life""No one cometh to the father but by me" "I am the way the truth and the life" So its either Jesus was wrong or Islam came from the devil.

It is a no brainier really. Every religion established by a person often keeps vestiges of the one from which this founder emanates. Christianity came from Judaism, so the earliest Christian Church, the Catholic church, keeps vestiges of Judaism. That's visible for example in their Priests and bishops dressings compared to the synagogue priests of Judaism, use of Incense in their worship, even in the Bible compiled by them you find common books used by both religion etc. Same way, Islam arose at a time when the Catholic Church was the only Christian church on ground. Vestiges of her practices and faith will naturally be deposed in Islam. As the times get wider and the religion is influenced by other factors such as modernism, breakaway factions-also depending on why they left- may look less and less like the earlier ones.
