Tithing is one way we acknowledge God and trust Him for divine supply, when you pay your tithe you are telling God that you believe He gave you the increase, and that you trust him for your finances , in simple words, when you tithe you simply believe that God gives money and vice versa when you don't pay tithe. It is not sin.

Lemme use this opportunity to advice us, don't pay any tithe if you are not convinced that it is God that gives you money.
