Why Jesus' Skin Color Matters by ednited(f): 10:18am On Jun 28, 2017 |
After one of my recent
lectures, a Christian college
student approached me and
asked if black people are
uncomfortable with the fact
that Jesus is white. I
responded, “Jesus is not white.
The Jesus of history likely
looked more like me, a black
woman, than you, a white
woman.”
I wasn’t shocked by this
student’s assumption that
Jesus was of European
descent, or the certitude with
which she stated it. When I
am in US Christian spaces, I
encounter this assumption so
often that I’ve come to believe
it is the default assumption
about Jesus’ appearance.
Indeed, white Jesus is
everywhere: a 30-foot-tall
white Savior stands at the
center of Biola University’s
campus; white Jesus is
featured on most Christmas
cards; and the recent History
Channel mini-series The Bible
dramatically introduced a
white Jesus to more than 100
million viewers. In most of
the Western world, Jesus is
white.
While Christ the Lord
transcends skin color and
racial divisions, white Jesus
has real consequences. In all
likelihood, if you close your
eyes and picture Jesus, you’ll
imagine a white man. http://www.christianitytoday.com/ct/2016/april/why-jesus-skin-color-matters.html 3 Likes |

This are foolish questions. The Lord must be a man of power. For me that is the white man like Jesus. Only he can bring us freedom. It is well. |

Am not here to discuss if Jesus is white or black or green. Just to talk on the effect of his color that we view on mind in our life. Is it the same viewing him as black? And as white? |

ednited: don't worry about that..............the western world view white as good and black as bad, since they're the originator of the *jesus character*, they make him white. u wonder why black is used to depict satan, evil or any bad stuff? its their own problems btw. 5 Likes 1 Share |

Jesus is Abraham's seed. And Abraham is of a pale skin. He won't be Abraham's seed if he isn't pale skinned. Jesus is the son of David. David is pale skinned He won't be the son of David if not pale skinned. Don't mind all this people saying Jesus is black. Jesus was of a pale skin. But all the nations are saved through him. And in him there is no black or white. But a new creature. Hallelujah. |

ednited:How does his skin colour affect redemption? Was he born of a virgin? Yes Did he die,.( it doesn't matter how he died) Yes. Did he rise from the dead? Yes Did he ascend to heaven? Yes Is he coming back? Yes. This is what matters to me. I don't care if my master was from Scandinavia or India or Ghana. What matters to me is that, He bought my redemption. My advice to you is, get saved. The Master's Skin colour is of no significance and will not matter when he sits in judgement over you but finds you a goat instead of a sheep. 1 Like |

ednited:What does that matter anyways? When he left, he gave you a command to win souls and spread love, are you doing them? Me, i have very pertinent questions i need to ask him, but i won't ask him those questions if i find myself locked out the gate. Walk to into the gate. |
