In the 16th and 17th centuries AD, Amaras(Abyssinians) lost central and south Ethiopia because of Oromo brutal migration. In the 19th century AD, all the lost and few new territories were re-conquered/conquered under the leadership of Shewa Amharas to form the current Ethiopia map. Almost all the different ethnicities get along. Most of us love each other and have Ethiopian identity, but the current TPLF dominated Gov't wants to exploit the wealth of the country, modernized Tigray, disintegrate Ethiopia based on ethnicity and finally secede from Ethiopia to form their own Greater Tigray country.

In reality, all the regional Gov'ts are puppet of TPLF, but the Amhara is worse. Most of high level officials in ANDM(Amhara National Democratic Movement) are Tigray and Oromo who collaborate with TPLF. In all other regions, you must at least be part of the local dominate ethnic group to be part the regional Gov't, but anybody with different ethnicity can be part of Amhara regional Gov't. The TPLF and the puppet Amhara regional Gov't did this to to remove Amharas from largely fight for the interest of Amharas and subsequently to destroy Amhara. They had transferred thousands of Tigrays to North Gondar zone, Amhara region in order to loot that land from Amharas in the future.
The Amharas in the lands they looted back then had been mostly evicted and those that left had/have been forcefully Tigraynized and being Tigraynized. Example, the Amharas in Welkite.

Yes, but it's base was in current Tigray region of northern Ethiopia and Eritrea. At it's peak in the 5th and 6th century AD, it had conquered and controlled:-
- northern Sudan(Mero)
- Yemen, and
- Saudi Arabia.

It had it's own Gold coin currency and traded as far as Rome, Persia, India and China.

Even if there were Christians in Ethiopia and Eritrea as early as 1st century AD, it became the official religion of Axum Kingdom in 333 AD when Axumite King adopted Christianity. Because of this, Ethiopia was the 2nd nation in the world to officially adopted Christianity after Armenia. Through time, Ethiopia Orthodox Christianity started to be unique compared to other Orthodox Christianity. I'm none believer.

If you don't know, Ethiopia is the most mention country name in the Bible. It's has also been mentioned in Greek works, Hebrew books and Quran.

During the early years Islam, prophet Mohammad had sent some of his followers to Axum, so that they can escape the persecution in Arabia.

The TPLF dominated EPRDF Gov't is trying it's best to cover them. Ethiopia is among the top 5 censor-shred nations in the world. There is peace like no major crimes and terrorism, but there isn't political freedom like most democratic countries.

I think most global medias know about the genocide, but they are purposely ignoring it.

There was major uprisings in Amhara and Oromia regions for the past 2 years and it has been exposed to foreign medias at a certain extent, but the country declared state of emergency in the early months of this year 2009 EC (October, 2016 GC) and posting political things and images on most of social medias sites is a crime.
