thebee001: As you refused to read the thread, Oya take this and read: femi312: There is this saying that says ''If we don't fight we have failed, but if we fight we can either fail or succeed''. So forget the tuition part for now and put in some work. First, you need to decide on the course you want to study, To save you some stress start from this website http://graddecision.org/ to know the application process, So step 1) Decide on the course you want to study 2) Search for schools using a)www.msinus.com (open this website with a laptop, you should see a list of school and ranking for some of the most common courses, you can start from there b)www.gradschools.com c)www.google.com (you can just type 'msc in bla bla in the us in google' d) www.usnews.com e) www.4icu.org . 3) check up the website of the schools you find, to see the requirements. most schools will require GRE and some will require both gre and toefl . 4) Register for standardize exam and take it. You can register for gre as soon as you are ready and prepared to take the exam. Its done online at www.ets.org. You can also get all the information you need about the exam on the website. You will get adequate materials to prepare for the exam in this dropbox I created https://www.dropbox.com/sh/t9ot6d07hp1lkm7/AADL_dTihjEvNBRCBsmAcoXja?dl=0 TOEFL is an English test required by some US universities. though, some schools waive due to the fact that Nigeria is an Anglophone country. For toefl, all you need are the speaking noteful videos in the link below, the ets toefl guide is enough to ace the exam for other sections. Just download the toefl ETS Guide from there website and the simulation test. https://www.dropbox.com/sh/45tvc3ifi8wh8sh/AACXR5j6l3nsWK8vZx5P28TVa?dl=0 As for the Tuition, if you have good results (GRE, GPA, Toefl), SOP and LOR; US schools do offer assistanship to graduate students. This can either be Research Assistant, Teaching Assistant or Administrative Assistant. Depending on the school, if you get an assistantship, your Tuition will be waived and you will also be paid a monthly stipend that can take care of your living expenses. One advice, once you shortlist schools, send emails to the grad cord of the schools and ask specific questions relating to that course and funding opportunities, be very explicit. Lastly, there are basically 2 admission session in the US, Spring (Jan) and Fall (August). Schools admit more students in Fall, so Its advisable you plan towards Fall 2018. If you plan to resume in fall 2018, make sure you submit all your application documents before ending of Dec 2017. If you don't give it a trial, you will never know.My philosophy in life is to always do my part, with that I don't get to regret later. Above all, if you believe in God,pray to him..if not, good for you. If you have any question, drop it here and you should get more than one good answer. 11 Likes 2 Shares |

My own DS-160 had no education or language question. Though it has US travel history question. I don't think it has anything to do with payment of visa fee. But you need to at least pay your visa fee before submitting your DS 160. It's just logical you do that. yomcy2016: |

Hahahaha. Yes oo. Thank you so much. I remember the first question I asked on this thread, was something silly can't remember what exactly but you still took your time to answer me. God bless you, your hubby is indeed a lucky man. LagosismyHome: 9 Likes |

joeluv: I was so hungry I almost passed out and it's been a stressful two days for me because of the flood, I have not had any decent sleep for two days. I was interviewed by the chubby white lady in her 50's, the lady did not smile at all, not even for a second. She denied the two guys before me and she approved one guy before them. The guy she approved, they where busy cracking jokes and she was all smiles (The Guy fine Sha). After that it was frowning all the day. Fear catch me for real, coupled with the hunger and the sleep that was on my case I felt like I lost my voice. Fast forward to my turn. Me: Good Morning Vo : still frowning (Pass me your paper) Vo: what is your highest degree Me: Masters Vo: When did you have this Master Me: 2011 Vo: Why do you need another Masters Me: I intend to pursue a career in economic analysis and a masters in (Vo cuts me off) Vo: What have you been doing since 2011 Me: I first worked with Union bank as (She cuts me off) Vo: This scholarship what's it about Me: Its an academic merit award? awarded to me by (Vo cuts in) Vo: Why where you given this award Me: because of my previous academic record Vo: How many schools did you apply to Me: Two Vo: What's the other one Me: Illinois state university (Because of hunger and frowning I could not even properly pronounce Illinois) Vo: she leans over and is like come again No: said it agin this time she heard me Vo: Where you given admission Me: (With a smile)I was not admitted Vo: Who is paying for the balance Me: My uncle Vo: what does he do Me: Owns a Micro finance company Vo: Have you been to the USA before Me: Yes VO: Where would you be staying Me: I would get a place around Arlington Virginia. Vo: Pick up your Passport in three days (circling something on the paper) Me: Thank you very much. I prayed so hard for a smiling Vo and an uncomplicated interview. Baba God answered the most important one so it's all good. No documents asked, no question of why this school what would you do with this degree. In fact neither She nor I ever mentioned the name of my school through out the conversation. She was so focused on the screen I was just wondering if it is only DS-160 she is reading. That was it everyone o. Please pray pray pray before you come for your interview, because the whole process is a lil but awkward and can easily unsettle some people. The God factor can not be over emphasized. I have learned to much from this thread and I wish to thank everyone that contributes to its success. We all need to be our brothers keeper and it's evident in this thread. All the best to others awaiting their interview. God would surely do it for you as he did it for me.
I say BIG AMEN to that great Prayer of yours.. What a transcript.. May God bless you Broda. Important Note: For those of you who don't understand the meaning of giving back to the thread with your full transcript, this is an example for you to learn from and not all those XYZ and BlaaBalala stuff that you guys type and call it transcript. God Bless you Joeluv for your transcript.. thumbs up for you! 9 Likes 1 Share |

Time2Smile: All praises and thanks be to Allah Visa approved this morning at windows 1 by the young bespectacled female VO. The interview lasted for less than a minute and I was only asked three questions The crowd was mammoth and blue papers were mostly dished out. Although I think the process was fair and those that were denied were given time to make their case. I am not accusing anyone, but those that are delayed don't seem to post the full transcript. Denial interviews usually last longer than I read here. On to my interview, the VO approved the two visiting visa to two middle aged men before and I have to say their response made sense. Pronto it was my turn and the following ensued ; VO: Good Morning Time2smile :Good morning ma'am, how are you doing? (She didn't reply me) VO; Pass me your documents. ( I complied while she scanned my passport and studied my I 20) VO: You are going for a PhD, what research would you be working on? Time2smile: I would be working on Neurodegenration research. The department has an ongoing collaboration with the School of Behavioral and Brain Science on the molecular mechanism underlying neuro degenerative diseases such as Parkinson's and Alzheimer's diseases. (She wasn't looking at me but was typing and nodding so I continued) We would be using various molecular biology tools such as Real PCR, Next generation DNA sequencing, Micro array analysis to look for genes expressed in Alzheimer's disease but not in healthy individuals (I actually said all this but not as smoothly as it reads, by now I had her full attention). VO: Good, why did you choose University of Texas? Time2smile: Actually one of the the reasons is because of the research interest. Also, the university has high diversity with high number of international students and has great support for international students and........ hmm there is another reason(actually forgot and was thinking) ..... yes I was given funding. VO: You funding is it through a scholarship or fellowship Time2smile; I am awarded a graduate tuition scholarship that covers my tuition, I would also work as a graduate teaching assistant. I would be assisting to teach courses, invigilate exams, conduct tutorials and hold office hours. She picked a white paper, returned my I 20 and sevis, and said Your visa has been approved pick up your passport in few days. She no circle location of. Time2smile; Thank you and have a nice day.
Congrats Bro.. Your name really worked for you.. It's really your time 2 smile. Go and enjoy the blessings of God.. Cheers! 3 Likes 1 Share |
