Mandex11:Was the embassy aware that you were pregnant before leaving Nigeria.... I have a relative who will be travelling to the States soonest for Vacation but the real intent is to give birth.... Hope there won't be problem at the POE? She is with a tourist VISA and never informed the embassy about her pregnant as she got pregnant after getting the VISA |

Holyfield1: You better tell her to inform the embassy before she embark on her journey to avoid stories that touch. |

Oh oh. This is dicey. How far along is she?. It really isn't a crime to have a child in the US though, you just have to be sincere and let the VO know. A saving grace might be, if your relative was not pregnant as at the time of the interview. Holyfield1: |

Please is there any link for questions asked at POE for those using immigrant visa? I've been searching. Or does anyone have any idea what likely questions would be asked. Thanks |

seyewest: So please where can I get the right thread if there's anyone. Until I am stamped in, it's still considered a visa as it is first time entering on this visa. I haven't seen anyone yet with immigrant visa. Please if there's a thread point it to me. Thanks |

Why do people always think they're smarter than those who do these jobs for a living and are actually trained for it? She knew exactly what she was doing when she applied for the visa, and your first bolded statement below proves it. So she wanted to go on vacation, got the visa, then did not travel until she got pregnant and all of a sudden she remembers she has a vacation visa to the USA just in time to have a baby? There really isn't that much questioning. Everything the CBP officer needs is in your packet. Just don't open it before you get there. At most, they will probably only ask you perfunctory questions about your family (or if it is a job, about the job and employer). When I landed with my IV, the officer and I just spent time gisting about Nigeria while he went through the packet. He then asked about my kids and whether they have been to Nigeria before. I said yes, but not for the last few years. He asked if I give them anti malaria and so on, I said yes. As soon as they arrive and I put them on weekly anti-malaria medication It just felt like a conversation between old friends. So nothing to worry about. If you are traveling on a spouse IV, just be sure you know everything about your spouse and family so you don't trip up and invite any additional scrutiny Astonestone: |

amuwo1980: I believe you already should have booked a ticket to Chicago to serve as proof to the CBP officers at Atlanta POE showing your end destination. |
Re: U.S Visit: Port Of Entry Interview/stories. by 9jaStar: 12:54am On Jul 12, 2017 |
Yes. The X-Ray is for the embassy. If they need to include it in the packet, they will. Like I said, everything the CBP officer needs will be in that packet Your own is just to pack enough food. Hahahaha Astonestone: |

Good morning all, My final destination is Kingsville , Texas. Is it advisable to book a flight going to New York(JFK) as my point of entry, then book a connecting to Texas to save the cost of having to fly directly to Texas. |
Re: U.S Visit: Port Of Entry Interview/stories. by ladylco: 12:49pm On Jul 12, 2017 |
Dollypiizu: Yes You can but ensure you have evidence of your connecting flight and explain that you are still going to your final destination. My first trip I landed in jfk even though my Ds160 form stated Las Vegas. I was asked at the POE if I was going further I said yes to florida as I have my return ticket to florida. 1 Like |

Hello Everyone, Thank you for your usual help and support. i have just a quick question. Our application has it that we are visiting Florida. However, we intend to spend a few days in New York before proceeding to Miami. will there be a problem at POE? Since we indicated on the application that we have a US contact in New York. BTW getting a flight from Lagos to Miami is very expensive this summer and we do not intend to book the domestic flight until we are in New York. We are spending a total of 16 days. Thank you!!! |

Thanks everyone for setting me on the right track but something else is on my mind, my cousin with same surname is the one am planing to stay with for a few days and though he have the green card now, i suspect he came in years back on a tourist visa and blended in. Am worried that if put down his address as where am going to stay they might bring up his past and get me into trouble(they thinking i might disappear too) what do guys think? |
Re: U.S Visit: Port Of Entry Interview/stories. by seyewest(m): 10:12pm On Jul 12, 2017 |
valeria:The last time I was in U.S. I spent 2 days in New York even though final destination is Atlanta. I purchased a ticket from New York to Atlanta in Nigeria with my GTB naira card and book a room for 2 nights in New York. I told the CBP officer finally destination is Atlanta but will stay in New York for 2 days before proceeding to Atlanta. All you need to do is make sure you have booked a flight to Florida and have a concise explanation about why you're not flying straight to your final destination. |

You're welcome. Btw, be sure to pay your $165 ELIS fee before you leave for the USA. It will make the processing of your green card faster. If you pay after you arrive, your green card might take longer to arrive. And be sure to go to Social Security office to apply for your SSN. The quicker you get all these sorted, the quicker you can start your new life. Have fun, bro Astonestone: |
