I believe if Achiebe deserved the award, he would be given. Don't forget Soyinka got this award in 1986 and not just in 20s. Also you remember that Soyinka writes on all the three genres of literature unlike Achiebe whose work was based on prose fiction alone.

You all know Achebe deserves Nobel Prize but they did not give him abi. E be like say little blood don enter part of your brain. You can create thread for reason Achebe deserves it and not Soyinka with good fact. Let engage in the debate on the thread.

Wetin dey worry you Igbo people sef, must you compare him with Achebe, he has a Nobel Laureate prize your Achebe doesnt have, so tell me who the world recognizes the most?

Let's not go there..
I think you have given me the next idea for my thread
The Nobel Prize was politically motivated and not based on pure talents.
I have read ALL of Wole Soyinka's works
And ALL of Chinua Achebe's works.

So trust me when I say what I say about who deserved that prize.
Chinua Achebe was not just a writer but a prophet.
He was not just an academic but a beacon of morality.
Chinua Achebe was in a world of his own, almost unrivalled.
This is a fact most respected foreign writers believe and won't dispute.

Is there any research linking the use of marijuana as nasal inhalation to long life?

Ponder on this. Medical Marijuana according the medical journals are used to treat stress related ailments etc.

I do not want to bother about any other advantages from medical sciences, but if anything can reduce stress and make anyone sleep better, it therefore means, it is pro-life. Stress is the number killer today. So, if something can help reduce stress, I think we can say it supports life and living.

Make your own decision based on facts. I do not recommend anything, I am just trying to make common-sense.

I actually did this research on Achebe, Ojukwu and Soyinka.

1. Soyinka
2. Ojukwu
3. Achebe

in descending order in terms of eloquence and thought process.

Would read more Achebe books to form an opinion about literal ability.

Maybe I don't like poetry but I wasn't impressed by The Lion and the Jewel of Soyinka. Ake however was a great read.

Remember The Man Died was the basis for his Nobel prize.
After reading that book...I lost respect for the Nobel Committee.
But this does not take away the fact that Wole Soyinka is very good too

Seriously? Guy, Nigerians with their penchant for evil turned what is normal and good and made diabolical. Fraternities are meant to something of pride in normal societies but not in Nigeria. Soyinka thought he was dealing with sane human beings when he introduced it not knowing Nigerians would twist it.
Is there anything Nigerians dont kill with or abuse?
Anything that was introduced to make Nigerians more civilized and less evil, Nigerians have turned it to a medium to perpetrate more evil
Religion
Fraternities

even the simple things like Marrying a wife is an excuse for some savages to rape women and they justify it by saying a man cant rape his wife

I had the privilege of meeting Wole Soyinka a while back, and was amazed to note that he stood 6ft4inches tall, and was built like a weight lifter in his prime.

True true, our Kongi no 'gree age at all.

As others dey old dey go, na so Kongi dey strong more-more, and dey Kaka-raka like young soja.

Happy birthday, Kongi, and may you live long to service many more beautiful women, while writing yet more classics for the world to enjoy.

You must be nuts, keep your silly birthday wishes to yourself. Of course chinua achebe had no intelligence capacity to win nobel laureate, you can't still hide your frustration and envy.

FOOLISH MAN!! You are a course to Nigeria, you formed a fraternity where they kill themselves like animal, Now you brainwashed so many Nigerians that buhari will transform Nigeria in a twinkle of an eye! Because of the level of your education and wiseness everyone trooped out and vote for the Nomadic man! The man has spent most of his times in London!
mor0n he formed a confraternity to fight the course and the common man and challenge the authorities at the university of Ibadan those days. The fact that the confraternity metamorphosed into a cult group that kills people decades after he left the institution is not his fault. Use your brain before commenting.

BTW with the kind of folly you just displayed it's obvious no one!!! I repeat no one... In your linage can achieve what the professor has achieved. Get a life hater

Though I still think your preference for Achebe has a tribal tint + taint to it, you have an edge over me if you have read ALL their books as claimed.

YES, the Nobel is political. Life and work place is political too. Even if a God exists, why does He exhibit "preferential" treatment to some in allocation of resources? I am far better than some folks due to circumstances of my birth and far worse for the same exact reasons....

My point is this - Life is basically a lottery. The fact is that the peak of achievement as a literature writer is the Nobel and not even financial gains from booksales.

Soyinka was the 1st African to win it... Achebe couldn't (though he won Bookers)

We might argue about the Nobel Committee, but I daresay they are more competent and qualified to judge them both. ..And it's not a unilateral decision, a committee of experts (PLURAL)has to assess candidates ...

Soyinka won.

Happy birth sir. Those that are waisting their precious time to be agitate about biafra, do we have and state ruling by biafra, if yes, which state, who is their president, what their currency and where is their capital located?

I think the answer to my question is infinitesimal and vanity.

Thats the part that baffles everyone. No one accepts responsibility for anything. They want to sleep, wake up and all should be well.
