The Hind at $360 million for 12 units is not cheap.

Get your figures right.

That's 30 million dollars Nigeria payed for each MI-35m.

It does not lack advanced sensory or flight characteristics either.
we didn't get a good bargain for our MI-35M Hind E considering that the Brazilians got the same 12 units the helicopter for $150 million.
so the actual cost is around $12-$13 mil. I wonder why ours was that costly. notwithstanding, at $12 million (which is the actual price) its relatively cheap. for comparison, the Mi 28 cost $15 million (we all know Russian gears are usually cheaper than their western counterparts)

.
for comparison the Apache cost $40 million, the blackhawk (transport) is $20 million while the AH-1 that Kenya just got costs in the excess of $30 million.

.
In terms of sensors, avionics, laser designator, situational awareness, counter measures
, NVG and arnmanments are not really cutting edge. its just upgrade from the older hind versions.

.
the flight characteristics isn't too great either. in summary its selling point is the survivability which is unmatched anywhere.

Nigeria should put Saudi Arabia on notice.

They are buying support all across the Middle East and parts of Africa.

The purchase won't stop here of course. I expect to see things in the air too, their Air Force is abysmal. Freebies are sweet. Look at the Egyptians with Saudi and Gulf money. The princes of Arabia have money like rice grin and will shower anyone with it willing to sell their birth right to wash dirty laundry for them.

Definitely, they purchase air assets also, i'm certain of this.

We abstained during the Palestinian vote. We also maintain close relations with Israel, Saudi-Arabia and Iran.

i believe she is the first high profile government official to have being kidnapped by alshabaab, luckly she was rescued by KDF and GSU Joint operation

PS Mariam El Maawy rescued by KDF after being abducted by Al-Shabaab
Public Works Principal Secretary Mariam El Maawy was Thursday afternoon rescued by KDF and GSU commandos after being abducted by Al-Shabaab militia in Milihoi, Lamu. A Toyota Prado with six occupants had been taken hostage by the militants at Milihoi along the Lamu-Mpeketoni highway before a joint operation by security forces responded to the 3pm incident. Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) Spokesman Colonel Joseph Awouth El Maawy was rescued in the operation and the body of one man recovered.

Remember that cost includes the cost for training and ammunition, also maintainance cost.

We also cannot compare the price of the Brazilian Helios to that of Nigeria. When contracts were signed been a significant factor.

Algerian1 should be able to answer how much they are paying for thier MI-28, since it is a recent purchase.

You mean the Viper version, which the more recent version. There is no way those Kenyan AH-1 costs 30 million. That's impossible.

Interms if avionics nobody can seat at home and declare it is not cutting edge, seeing that the electronics installed in the MI-35m, MI-28N and KA-52 are all recent technology.

Same for flight characteristics, you have not flown the helicopter neither have i, so how do you know? You know any pilot who has flown both types?

The day we will call them to account is preparing in the gym. That airspace they closed was a painful stab in the back and this Nigeria I know never forgets. We always pay back even if subtly, our friends down south learnt it the hard way. The Beef was with Jonathan but it was Buhari that drew blood with a sudden missing SIM. The British have a story to tell too.

Nigeria actually acted based on it's national interest. Either way Ghaddafi was an existential threat to Nigeria and it's Hegemony in West And Central Africa. NATO was gonna do the heavy lifting so we let them. However history we see it as support for NATO a good thing for us. Nigeria is very very sensitive to the African reaction to any hint of the policy of Pax Nigeriana which informs why our leaders lay low to our disappointment.

the hind can absorb more damages

however, its lack of advanced sensory and limitations in its flight characteristics is a turn off. Although the cheap price makes up for it.
the rooivalk on the other hand is big and as such its armor should be 'big' too but that's not the case. I understand that its solves this problem by using long range weapons.

.
when the NAF made attempt at the turkish T129 I was ecstatic because it would ha e complemented our hind handsomely.
As far as I know the Rooivalks armour is not mentioned on any website.....so I did you come to your conclusion?

Btw we might have to move this to the discussion page! We all know what happens when there is a Mi35 Vs Rooivalk comparison!

Countries such as Senegal and the Ivory Coast have been re-organising thier military. Offcourse they are not run by Dictators but we can see investments are bearing good fruits. True, Ivory Coast has a long way, still to go, but they have been investing.

We all saw how swagged up the Senegalese looked in Gambia, with additional Saudi money, i expect reforms to continue.

I don't understand the Saudi money stuff. Can you explain cc: covert1
