This is a nice storyline and creativity put together. Alot of women face stuff like this on a daily. Nevertheless, there's alot to learn from this piece of work. Pretty nice One. I'll like a one on one conversation with the writer. My kinda person
Re: AT 30's by feyiwonda(f): 5:47pm On Jul 14, 2017
And this is exactly what's going on now. People hide n fear what peeps gonna say. The fear of what peeps gonna say if I open up or leave has made many to be no more. As an individual, we should try not to judge our fellows or conclude abt them when we see their lapses. They alone knows what they feel.
Kudos to the writer of this wonderful piece. More power to your elbow. And please, more updates..... #Notomaritalviolence

CHAPTER TEN
"mama, this is the girl I told you about " Dike ushered his maid into the beautifully furnished sitting room. He had built his mom a 4 bedroom duplex in the village in Awka ever since his dad died when he just started blowing in the film industry and his shipping business was moving. The villagers had even thought he used his father for rituals but he didn't care, as far as he was concerned, he was wealthy and that was it. he felt the villagers were jealous of him that was why they carried such rumours. He watched as his mother directed his maid into one of the rooms in the house. He had wanted to poison her and dump her body in the lagoon before coming but he decided to bring her and she might be carrying a son who knows. He had briefed his mum all that happened between him and his wife and they had both apologized to his wife but she adamantly stood her ground and her pictures and videos had gone viral and he had gotten a letter from the court that his wife had sued him and his presence was requested in court.
"Dike,... am not happy with what is happening o! Village people have started pointing fingers that I trained a monster as a son. Infact obiajulu and her husband, our inlaw have come to cause wahala in my compound the day before and infact if the youths of the land know that you are around, they will kill you... so my son biko go back to Abuja today." he held his mother's hand, he didn't mean to cause all these for her, he looked around the sitting room and whispered to his mum.
"where is kelechi and Elizabeth? " his mother shrugged, those were his only two younger sisters.
" you know, they would always be in church by this time... ehen I want you to also talk to them for me they both want to become Reverend sisters imagine? atleast let one get married so that I can chop bride price nau ehn please talk to them". He noded his head,
"I will do that mama, look biko ehn just help me take care of this piece of evidence that is with you, biko you know she's carrying my son". She opened her eyes widely
"ah my son, I don't understand, how is she a piece of evidence? "
" mama, she's the only one that can testify in court against me so it's best I keep her here instead of killing her"
"it's good my son, it's good but hope no body else knows you've been beating chioma in that house cause I don't want to loose you o! " she retied her loosened wrapper while he sat up in sofa.
" arrghh.. I just remembered mama, our gate keeper but don't worry I will take care of that. Just make sure you take care of this one and when she delivers the baby we send her away but please take care of her for now"
"okay my son. I will do as you have said. but why is chioma this heartless after I begged and begged but still, she couldn't just withdraw the case from court "
" leave her mama, shey she wants to do case abi, I will deal with her and make sure she spends her money to the last drop of her blood. Is it a crime for me to beat her because I love her ehnn?"
"no my son but you almost killed her nau" he stood up suddenly, vibrating.
"oh mama, so you have started joining them abi? You can't support your own son ehnn? " she quickly stood up, she didn't understand her son anymore, she just have to act the way he wanted, he was the one that pushed his father when they had misunderstanding years back causing the poor man to break his neck and he had thought no one was watching but she was watching that very night. she shook her head, she hoped his son is not having mental issues.
"Dike calm down, of course I support you. Chioma doesn't deserve you at all'' he smiled, now his mother is talking sense, he hugged her and picked his phones and car key. he was going back to Abuja and he needed to clear every trace of evidence that will leave chioma helpless and come back begging, afterall he was only doing her a favour by been her husband.
"mama, I love you so much ehnnn please take care of yourself " with that he marched out leaving his mom still staring at his retreating back. She sighed and dropped heavily on the chair.
" holy Mary mother of God have mercy on me, and please protect my son for me". She brought out her phone as she began to sob while watching chioma's video. One of her daughters had downloaded it for her. She shook her head, Her son had really bitten more than he could chew. She prayed silently for the case to favour him atleast as she laid on the sofa.

********* ****** ******
MO stared at her invitation card, finally she's getting married, her traditional wedding was slated at the end of the week and the white wedding would take place the following day.
She was supposed to be happy but she wasn't, she was just indifferent about the whole thing, her mom had taken the whole thing upon herself, everything was ready, it was even her mom that picked her wedding cakes. She had asked Ebun to follow her to the bridal shop and she had decline at first but she later followed, even sassy had come to the bridal shop too and Ebun had reconciled them. She poured herself another drink from the red wine alcoholic wine she was taking. She didn't know why she bought the wine but she didn't care afterall it contained just two percent alcohol. She focused on the design she was doing with her laptop balanced on her lap. She felt the heat from the laptop and quickly removed it and placed it on the center table. She was used to wearing bum shorts and tank top at home since she wasn't going anywhere and then she remembered she had told her PA folarin to come and see her at home. She stood up to go and change to a more decent cloth when she heard someone come in.
"hi, good afternoon, ". She immediately became shy and at the same time sorry. She stared at his swollen right eye, she wanted to ask how she got the mark but remembered his fight with her fiance. They had punched themselves like they knew each other, and she had severely begged Wilson not to take him to the police station and Ethan in turn Kept on saying
"this dude doesn't deserve you MO" and out of anger she had fired him and since then he hadn't set her eyes on him.
"yeah I know you ain't expecting me but, I came to tender a proper resignation to you and to let you know that I would be leaving Abuja, I got a job" he smiled and dropped the envelope on the sofa. MO sighed as she suddenly started feeling cold. She didn't want him to go yet atleast, but she didn't know why. She eyed him slowly unable to look straight into his eyes. he was dressed in a blue designer jacket on dark jeans. he looked so beautifully handsome in his outfit but for the right eye. She blinked back tears restraining herself.
"yeah, I will never forget you MO, you told me to apply to start something atleast like a fashion designer. Well thank God I heeded to your advice,... uhm.. I saw your invitation card tho, even though you didn't invite me " he smiled, she never knew he had dimples until then.
"... even if you had,... I wouldn't be there". She wasn't surprised he said that, she tried talking but she didn't know what to say to him. She tried moving close to him, but it didn't help. Just then, folarin walked in greeting them.
"ma, I brought the files you asked for, the office misses you... " he smiled, but when he saw that neither of them answered him, he proceeded into the house afterall he knew his way around.
" well... Am running late I have to go ". He checked his beeping phone. He began to move away when he heard her talk for the first time that day.
"erhm,... Goodluck " she hit her hip, that was all she could say, she didn't know what to say to him. He just noded his head as she watched him leave. She sat heavily on the sofa and shut her eyes tightly trying to erase every memory of Ethan, she was getting married and that was it.
"folarin! " he scurried back to the sitting room.
" yes ma"
"I would need you to do something for me this Friday, you know am getting married this Friday right?.... good and whatever I tell you, I want it to be between us okay? "
" yes ma". She stood up walking to her room and stopped halfway on the stair case.
"... and make sure you attend to all those files I asked you to bring, try to complete my designs for me... am not in the mood ". She continued climbing the stairs, she sighed seeing Ethan had made her loose focus she thought.
He rested his head on the steering hoping she would come out to call him back but it seem her mind was made up. He picked his phone that was ringing.
"yes Osas, I hope am not late for the flight... Where are you?"
"no sir, just remaining thirty more minutes sir, am waiting for you at the airport "
" alright then... will be there shortly". He dropped his phone and turned on the ignition, he looked at MO's house again, he wished her a happy married life but for now his business needed his attention.

*********** ******** ****
Chioma watched her baby sleep soundly in her cot, it's been a month since she was discharged and her baby had been removed from the incubator, she was glad the child looked like her not like her soon to be ex husband. She sat on her bed taking her phone in her hand to call her lawyer. The women's organization had promised to help her sue her husband and get her a good lawyer. She had even been invited to some events in some African countries to speak on Domestic violence and the rights of women and she has been rewarded handsomely for her speech. A nollywood script writer had even agreed to pay her handsomely just to get her story and at the same time act as the victim. She smiled sadly, after the court case she would go for a long vacation in Malaysia and even try to see if she can relocate there. Her lawyer picked on the second ring.
"hey... Chioma how are you doing "? The soft male voice asked her the phone. Barrister Ayo was the lawyer the women agency had gotten for her and he coincidentally happened to be her secondary school mate.
" am fine dear,.... Yes my baby is fine too"
"good, ehmm... I don't know if you can get through to your former gatekeeper and housegirl ".
" ehnehnn, hope there is no problem? "
" ehn, no and yes but it's just that they would play a very vital role in this case"
"uhm, okay. I will do that by tomorrow by God's grace "
" alright, please take care of yourself, goodnight and sweet dreams ". She replied him and ended the call. She needed to see her gatekeeper and househelp, she hoped she wouldn't see Dike when she goes to his house. going back to that house reminds her of painful nights...of beatings and forceful sex. at age 32,she wondered why she had such problem at this age and wondered who will ever want her again.

********* ****************
Sassy hugged her children tightly as she kissed her husband. She was happy, Ebun had reconciled her to her family. Knowing christ was really gain. She now had perfect peace. She clutched her family tightly not wanting to let them go. God was working on her weakness and she's also trying to do her best too. She shut her eyes as tears of joy streamed down her face, and whispered
"it's worth knowing Jesus''.

Thks feyi... Yes I think victims of domestic violence shld learn to speak up. So many experiences around me (plus the leading of the Holy Spirit) geared me up to write this piece. You can imagine a pastor who will beat his wife (obviously not sorry about it) and they will still climb the altar to preach and advice fellow couples in same distress imagine! And his wife will not want to speak out.... U know that is how they continue patching their marriage till they die.

@OP, though I don't really comment on the literature section, but your story drew me out. Many wives r going through this issue of domestic violence, but I'll not place d whole Blane on d men because in most cases, signs were shown by d men during d period of courtship, but d ladies outta love or whatever decided to overlook the signs.

One of our employees have this issue although she suddenly stopped work last month without anyone knowing her whereabout or what happened.... Wish I could have helped

Please, who exactly can help ladies in this situation?? Is there a *functional* agency that can help them?

Good work..... But please, don't let MO marry that Pastor, else I'll not go to his church again
