hello, mah fellow nairalanders...there is dhis issue bothering my soul nd spirit long ago....after my ssce examination in 2015 dad suggest i should go and learn welding work first b4 any other thing. okay being the submisive type i listened to his advice ... my annoynce is tat my oga in the work shop dont want to put me through so as to develop my skills in the work instead he keep giving me works that are meant for jnr apprenetice to handle and leaving the main work for his brother wch is also an apprentice to do...dhis almost my 2yrs there and i cant even do simple door by my self ...when ever i thinks about these it makes me to shed tears .....pls i need your oppenion and suggestions

when ever i raise the point ..they tell me to av patience tat the other apprentice is not going to stay with him forever soon it will be my turn..and the his plan is to stay there for 4 yrs

Explain to them that you don't have time but if you've done that and they still insist, approach your boss. Meet him one on one and bare your mind. If he doesn't change and you genuinely see that he's not interested in your progress, talk to your family again.

Find if you have the time (usually abt 3yrs) go to a technical school n apply for metal work/fabrication. .

But if you are in Lagos. .. go to Ikeja entrepreneurship development Centre, other training g outfit. EEDC is kinda almost free.

But the business side of it .... you'd have to start with babysteps mayb do "join man" on weekends.


Welding isn't bad if you can get your City and Guilds tests certs. Then there's pipeline welding etc. Shd you pursue that career.
