Is There Really Money In Poultry Business? by kayo80(m): 3:10pm On Jul 15, 2017
I love poutry business, and have been into it for like 2 years now, but i am wondering if there is really money in poultry.

When you raise birds from chicks to maturity, and you sell to market women or cold room and make like 100 naira or 200 naira on each chicken. If you have 100 birds, thats just about 20k profit.

Or if you are doing the egg business and make 100 on a crate...it just doesn't add up to something substantial.

I might be wrong, maybe someone needs to educate me on where the money is in poultry. I would love comments. Please come with hard facts, not heresay.

By the way, i am based in ibadan.

It depends on your farm management technique. E.g salaries of workers, biosecurity, prompt vaccination and margin of profit of eggs. Source of electricity, type of feed Etc.

AGRICULTURE IS LIKE OGUN OWO. Whichever side you go into you won't regret but due to lower risks, i prefer crop farming.
To your post, its better you do one on one with experienced poultry farmers social media wont really solve your prob but create an awareness that you are facing challenges

You said 20k on 100birds. Imagin doing it for 1000birds thats 200k or more because of the number.

@OP. It also depends on how many streams of income you generate from poultry enterprise generally. If you plan strategically, you generate higher income.

Strategic planning of agribusiness is a necessity for sustainability. It serves as a driving mechanism, charting the course of the agribusiness. Any agribusiness of considerable scale without a good plan can be compared to a boat on a raging sea. Just a little more current, it will capsize.
