Lol. Welldone Mama. We tried solids for the first time this morning. One heinz rice porridge, half of it ended up on the bib but we try small. Abeg how do you make pap for babies?

Pap? We never do that one yet o
But you should make it like you make normal pap. Only thing is after you've poured the hot water inside the pap and it has thickened to the way you like it, pour it into a small pot and cook again on low heat for about a minute or two

Please Mamas, anyone know or heard of this NEOLAC CEREALS? I saw it and it appeared too Cheap to be true. N500 for the 400g while im used to buying cerelac N1200 of same size.
Please anyone used it before.

And secondly, its walker really necessary for a 6 months old baby?
Tnx.

Hmmmm
That neolac cereal is really cheap o
But sorry I know nothing about it
As for the walker, it's a personal choice.
If you want to buy it for your child there's no harm.
My sister bought it for my son and my son loves it. Once he's in it, he moves everywhere!

Newborns sneeze a lot. It's absolutely normal and will go as she gets older

As for the catarrh get saline spray and spray in each nostril, it will loosen any cattarh in her nose so you can suck. Keep her warm, I think mentholatum is much for a 3 week old oh, but what do I know? Don't know if you can do steam inhalation for her at her age. Other sabi mamas can chook mouth jazzyjazz, enque, Zaynie, Akorkor

FYI Gentlejay

AlphaHandMaiden:
oloriabefe

Get a saline nasal spray. It comes either as drops or a spray. I feel the spray is easier to use though but some prefer the drops.
If you see the catarrh is dry and thick, use the spray, it helps soften it up and it will be easier to either suck out or just help moisturize inside the nostrils.

You can get olbas oil, ( it is more efficient than plain eucalyptus oil(silverbird)
There is olbas for babies and the normal olbas. The one for babies is much milder. But a few drops on her bib or on her clothes - do not put directly on her skin.

Menthylatum, (, i dont know how strong the one you have is but if it is not a baby grade one, i will suggest you dilute with shea butter and rub on her chest, back and on the soles of her feet.

You can also add a TINY bit with some shea butter and rub ON her nose across the nostrils and from forehead down to the tip of her nose. Please do not put anything apart from the nasal spray in to her nostrils.

You can do a bit of steam inhalation with hot water and a few drops of eucalyptus oil.
Get help from your hubby or someone else to hold a wrapper or bed sheet over you, the baby and the bucket or bowl of hot water whilst doing the steam inhalation.

Or if you have running hot water, sit with your baby in the bathroom( may be on the toilet seat) and run the shower on the hottest setting so the bathroom steams up. The steam she inhales will help ease some of the congestion.

Try and keep her head elevated when she is sleeping it helps the congested feeling. For day time naps, you can let her stay in a bouncer or rocker. For night time, try elevating the 2 front legs of the crib.

Sorry there is no surefire cure, but these will help provide some relief.

Other things you can do is get hand sanitiser and use frequently and for other people that want to carry her either they go wash their hands or they use hand sanitiser. Also Limit access to other older but small children, as they can transmit all sorts of bugs from nursery, school and God knows where else.

For mama's still struggling to get their babies to try other foods. Let me share what has worked for me lately

Sing o. Sing for them. They like it.
For my boy I sing "ilan is a good boy, e I e I o grin
Ilan is a sweet sweet boy e I e I o
Ilan is a handsome boy e I e I o cheesy

Or let them watch their fave cartoon while you feed them.
This has been working for me so far. It's so effective that he eats a full bowl without crying! Lol and he cries if I pause and don't give him grin

@Enque, it is well. I think kids falling is highly inevitable. While they are trying to get their balance, falling off is part of it! However, we can only try to keep an eye on them and take them away from where is perceived dangerous. My girl too fall this night and me sef I almost cried, hubby blamed and shouted but what can I do? Am sorry to baby and am sorry to hubby was all I could say even if he no need sorry, no be him sha fall.

As for stress, it's part of life, the earlier you know my sister, but managing it makes the better difference! Am alone now with my twins, I discovered even when my cousin's daughter was with me, she was a lot of stress than an assistant. I do my things smartly and cutely without anybody messing things up and that makes me feel cool.

For the tommy, I don't know cos my tommy is as flat as ever. It just shappen up on its own.

Salary no dey ever reach oo, you just need to always itemise according to their importance. You can sell things inthe office if you work, stuff like cloths, bags, packaged fish. I sell well when I was working. To the point I hadly touch my salary at the end of the month. Women like cloths shoes n bags. Buy n sell in ur office.

Even if I no longer do my 8 to 5 work, I still sell, deliver to people around where I stay, am also into freelancing, I learnt this when I resigned to have time for kids. So, you can try out these freelancing sites and register. Try and market yourself, whaever you know you can do best (your niche), offer it and someone will surely buy your service. Go to the. Akorkor... vomiting is actually a sign of faulty feeding... either baby was overfed, improperly positioned while feeding, not allowing baby to blow wind after feeding and many more...
my son also use to finished his big flask of pap from 8 to 5pm.. of which he rarely finishes it within 24hrs at home

On a second thought,
Buying a walker is still a matter of choice but my dh decided to read up on it tonight and all he read was bad reviews.
Doctors don't recommend it and it's even banned in one country like that (he told me but I've forgotten the name. You cangoogle it)
Dh said he read that it delays the child's development. So we have jejely packed our own.
He said he read that it's better to place the child in a sitting position and put several toys in front of the child to play.

Though you can still use the walker but it's advisable to only use it sparingly

kai! today has been 1 helluva day....

my dd fell off the bed where i dropped her to mix palm oil +sugar for her cough. she cried for like 2 mins and stopped, but i have never seen her cry that way b4. everything just happened in a flash... i started crying with her.
Dh heard her crying and rushed in to the room, i couldn't even lie about what happened. Since then he has been giving me 'that look' (now i wish i lied to him about what happened). My LO is fine , she is playing with her papa and cruising away in her walker now, but I just throw some glances her way from time to time.
gosh! how did i get carried away

I am stressed.....taking care of my dd and managing my home all by myself isn't an easy task. Some nights I just breakdown and cry (I don't think I am depressed, sometimes it's just hard to deal). I am even beginning to analyse 2nd missionary journey and telling myself that adding 1 more baby to the mix will just 'kee' me finally.

my weight gives me concern too, my belle no just gree go inside.....i don tire to dey wear girdles and all what not.. I googled how to check for diastatis recti and checked my abdomen, and I felt a space.

My dear I understand u. When my dd fall from bed as well my hubby didn't speak to me for days. He was so angry at me. It was so sudden. Just few seconds of going out to pick ear pic. She has never rolled from bed be4 dat was d 1st time. Hubby saw her rolling and told me and I quote ' let dat baby not fall from dat bed' he never even talk am finish and she fell. But thank God they are fine.
I also feel same abt d stress even when have resigned for my baby from my place of work. Mine even worst sef cos hubby can't even help me stay wit baby or even feed her. He believe is a woman work. Even to carry her when we are going out na war. I carry my baby most time. But if anything happen he will complain abt it. But have stop complaining and crying about everything. I just let things go. He is so lovely on his own way. But don't understand d child is for both parents to care for.

Hope we all are having a great weekend.
sweetie don't be hard on yourself. Falling Is part of the growing business. Infact it makes them stronger. Just try and put them on a safe place. Like putting pillows on the floor when leaving her on the chair so she can have a safe landing.

As for doing house chores my mother advised me to do my best and leave the rest. When I am tempted to finish everything in a day I just dress the kids and take them for window shopping to keep me away. B4 I breakdown cos my hubby nor dey lift a pin.

For low income until u get something better cut down cost. My ds is having more frequent bowel movements recently they said its teething stool Si I bought washable diapers and also went to read through the creative forum in niaraland so I was able to construct a portable one for him so as he poos I wash immediately.my only use disposable diapers at night, when we are going out and sometimes in The morning cos he sleeps longer in the morning. My job has a policy of paying half salary during maternity leave so I have to be asking for money for everything something I am not used to so I dey sound like a cracked record to am and it's not funny at all.
I had to make my own soy milk and soy beans powder to use alternatively cos I dey breastfeed I need am and my growing daughter needs it too.
I make my own pap cos its neater, fresher and cheaper.
I stopped buying insecticides I make sure doors are closed during the day and use mosquito net.

I stopped buying things that have made name like us huggies and use my calculator very well like Nigeria pampers is 45naira for one while molfix is 38naira for one (though depend on the size) and its still ok.

When diapers is messed up 2-3 hrs to bath time I use my washable diapers rather than use another diaper.

After evening bath at 6-7 I use washable diapers till when I know 1diaper can take us till morning. I keep is butt very clean and we haven't had diaper rash for once. The list is endless. Infact I am so proud of myself instead of breaking down to cry.

As for waight my sister I advise you do the very little u can to loose it and don't push it too far when the kids are off ur hands you can begin to try something harder. If my hubby say see ur tommy as eh big I tell him I used it to deliver beautiful kids that are answering his name and ask him what he did with his own that is bigger than mine.
And also not that stress makes it almost impossible to loose weight so do your exercise when kids don grow enough to go school and u
Have stopped breastfeeding ur body and baby needs all the nutrients now to keep u strong at old Age

My sister people will talk but do what is safe for you and ur baby right now cos u both are the most important. God bless u and all mother as we sail the Aluta jet.
If you have any handwork put it to practice and earn some more money.

U meant August secrets mixagrain?

For the mixagrain and Nuttymeal, I make it from home,
put in small food flask and I feed her in the morning at the creche b4 I leave to my office or we take it at nights for dinner
I prefer the texture when it when it is warm and fresh from the pot.
That's how we like it grin

For Nuttymeal and mixagrain,

Boil a little water,
Dissolve 1 and half tablespoon of any of the 2 (either Nuttymeal or mixagrain) in cold water (like u do when making semo).
While the water is boiling, I add small coconut oil or olive oil and little crayfish to it.
When it's boiled, I pour in the dissolved mixture and stir to avoid lumps.
Cover and cook for another 5 mins.
Serve with baby milk or breastmilk.

I like to make it a bit thick so that by the time I add milk, it doesn't end up so watery cos I mix the milk in water b4 adding to the food.

For veggie beans, I haven't tried it yet. Wanna start when she is 8 months.

This is how I mix mine too but I noticed at the end of the day it always have lumps. So I just dissolve it into water straight then put on fire to cook directly by stirring it directly and add crayfish or fish when it's almost done.
I am thinking to start veggie beans from 7 months.@ambient. You can used any of the method from me or enque. It will surely work

End of rant!!

Hope we all are having a great weekend.
My sister from anothe mother grin please don't be hard on yourself Biko. All these our husband sometimes they don't understand what we go through mentally and physically sef. I always tell my husband " Babe, I ain't a superwoman oh" Fir baby falling, my DD rolled from inside carried bed to floor while I was cooking though no wound but I was worried too. Like other mama mentioned, it's part of their growing we just have to be more careful.

Most of the time I tell my husband that, hope he know that I am more powerful than him.... He will just say YES BABY I KNOW OHHHH!!! TRuth be told some of them know that they can't do 20% of what we do but they just don't want to take it.

See, I live alone in another country due to my work, come to Nigeria once in a while.... I do all the work alone, bath, mop, wash, cook e.t.c even when my sister was staying with me I made sure I did all by myself now that am alone I am used to it.
For the spending, budget, budget, budget and have a scale of preference of what you highly need. That's what I do( I don't go into mall and pick what I don't need) InfAct I buy from the cheapest mall with card sef and local market too.

May the lord help and protect our little ones. God give us strength as mum too. Please don't cry although I do cry too once a while when I am overwhelmed with work but I let it pass. May the lord grant us more power
