My interview on the 14th of July.. Visa denied .. VO why do i want to go to this school, i told him students are being given great opportunities to identify their God's giving gifts at their ist year of the program through the youth for the nation practical internship program, vo asked me how do dey do that i told him by teaching the students how to pray, counseling, giving hospitality and public relations, and they will also give them great opportunity to minister with pastor joel osteen. ..vo how did you know the school? Me through testimonies of alumni students a woman was healed from cancer and the other students life was transformed from being drug addict to normal life, vo asked me again how did you hear about the school dat dey know about the alumni bla bla me ok through Facebook vo what course will you be taking i told him Christian doctrine, chapel, student ministries... The next thing i see nah blue paper....
I have Bsc in Computer science, i just graduated last year September waiting for my Nysc buh i postponed it to 2020 because of the program...buh now i want to become a minister of God that's why i choose program which is Bachelors of practical ministry...
My School told me initially that if they ask me why the school i should say i choose christ for the nation Institute because i want to study theology and receive training for higher ministerial skills...pls i want to reapply and i need to correct my mistakes from any corrections i will get from the house thanks

Focus on more academic reasons like how courses in the program would equip you with a very particular skill set to function in evangelical ministerial capacities.

Those stories (emboldened) won't get you an approval.

Lol I should have said one luggage and one carry on. The bag was 20kg or so. I meant i was charged when i got to the us and was connecting the flight. Not in Nigeria. You probably do not remember but you were the one that told me to use one big box instead of 2 small ones after i had sent you their pictures

Laptops were never banned what changed is that for some airlines ... it can no longer be in your handluggage but must be in your checked bag... so i would suggest you wrap your towel and clothes around
Your laptop in checked bags due to the way they throw checked bags around

Yes not all airline is involved. The imposed restrictions are on flights originating or passing through 10 airports in eight countries, including Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar and Turkey. For more info or the current status

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/2017_electronics_ban

Qatar,Turkish along with Emirates and Etihad airlines are now good...to have laptops as carry-ons

With your supernatural reasons for choosing the school.. If I am an atheist I won't give u an approval... Let your response be more natural.. answers that will be acceptable by both believers and atheists.

My thoughts tho.

@Ability247, sorry for this denial. You really messed up even when you had the interview going pretty well on your direction. Please do re-apply with your uncle's personal statement of account, not company's and learn how to respond to questions.

Your uncle's company has a large employees, why didn't you say something like above 100? But unfortunately, you said not sure. Not sure means you didn't know about yours uncle's number of workers and that is pitiful.

Hello fellow nairalanders... Have been a silent follower on this thread and i will be going for my visa interview at the embassy in two weeks time. Pls i ve a sample of a rehearse interview on which i practiced and i wld be grateful if u pple can correct some of the loopholes in it. Thanks.

VO- Gudmorning
Me- Gudmorning sir/ma
VO- Pass me ur passport and i-20
Me- Ok
VO- Why r u going to US?
Me- I am going to US to pursue a bachelor degree in Accounting and business conmerce which will take me a total of 48months.
VO- When did u finish ur high school?
Me- I finished 2009
VO- What have u been doing since then?
Me- After my high school i went for my Ordinary National diploma in Business Admin and after that i went for my Industrial training which i finished in 2013. I also went for a professional course in NIM. Since then i ve been assisting my mum in her business as a supervisor.
VO- How many schools did u apply to?
Me- I applied to three schools
VO- Mention them
Me- BGSU, Murray state univ and Arkankas state univ
VO- Why Bowling Green state university?
Me- Yeah i applied to three universities buh i choose BGSU cos of the combination of the course i applied for which suit my career interest and also i choose the university becos Accounting course in BGSU is no #1 in Ohio and also the institution has a stronger relationship with public and private organisations in terms of internship whIch will give the experience i needed not only in class also on the field.
VO-How did u hear about the school?
Me- My uncle who is an alumni of the school gave me a good recommendation abt the school and he is now doong well as a senior lecturer at the university of ibadan. I also went online to make more research about the school and i find it more commendable for the course i applied for

VO- How many kids do ur mum have?
Me- Three... Am d second and only son.
VO- Who is your sponsor?
Me- My mum.
VO- ok.
I wld appreciate ur advice and corrections. Thanks.
the biggest problem with rehearsed responses is that , you will definitely sound like a 1965 Telefunken amplifier, and this may piss the VO off and prompt what may seemingly be hard questions

We already advised him on the bold but because someone used the coy acct; the person might not tell you what really happened. Your case might be different. Go with whatever he has in his personal acct. A strict VO wont give F1 with coy acct, even if na your papa get the coy.

You could read previous parts of this thread. You can find the links on page 1 if I'm not mistaken.

But for undergraduate studies, the process should be

- Take TOEFL/SAT depending on the requirement of your proposed schs.
-Select schools and browse through the admission requirements of your intended program.
- Have your high sch transcript and results evaluated by a professional body. Only if it's required by your program and sch though.
-Put in your application to the schools you've selected and then wait for admission decision.
- From all admissions received, make a choice and submit your financial statements if you're gonna have to fund your education. In the case of a fully funded program, this becomes redundant.
- Request an initial i20 to be mailed to you.
-Pay your sevis fee
-Book an appointment with the embassy
-Go for an interview.
- Book a flight and travel grin grin grin

Hope I didn't miss any step? Lol

Morning house,is there anyone around Wisconsin or Milwaukee on here ? Need to find out some certain things.

Since the forum was created to help one another with mock interviews et Al...

Since oga Texrem, the first lady of the house 'Lagosismyhome',cutemorgan et Al choose to brush us up with admission issues and mock interviews, regardless of how tight their schedules are...

Putting myself down to follow that path too. If anyone need mock interview, don't hesitate to get across via my moniker.

there are 100 of schools that do that... How many schools did you apply? what made this school standout among the rest you applied? what got your attention most in the school? how is their program like? will you be doing lots of traveling to local areas for evangelism? how many reputable ministers have gone there? is any of an alumni from there your mentor? there should be lots of reasons why you chose the school? is the location of the school in a moderate climate condition you prefer? and lots more?
i was laughing when i was reading the previous transcript about testimonies and all that you can do that in a Nigerian embassy its not church service you are going to lol but don't give up just go and check the school really well, watch their YouTube vidoes if they have, know some of their achievement. if its a theological school you need to bring something different to the table unlike others going to a normal university.. unless its just liberal art Christian university then you'll talk about both the school and then why you chose the program in the school.

Check out the requirements of admittance into your program. You could start by checking out a few schools to know what is generally required.
I'd suggest some schools, but I don't know much about your field.

To me, the VO wasn't strict. She just wanted to make sure that there's enough funds for his studies abroad. She also went as far as asking him if the company is big or small, a smart dude knew exactly what to say with regard to that of course Hahahahaha. Well, I think maybe he got quite nervous in the process of the interview.

Good day,
Beautiful people, I have an issue, am sorry I used an agent but she doesn't want to release my i20 until I make payment for agency fee then school resumes on the 8th of August and I asked for a scanned copy which she refused. This has causing lots of issues in my family they claim she might be lying . My question is can one resume school after the said date and what to do to remedy the situation. I found out about this site when I had already started the admission process.

I do agree that the school response is a better answer...

The biggest problem with your responses is you think everyone cares about the gospel or believe in God...
You believe in Christianity that great but some others think it a whole load of rubbish...... at the end of the day all you are going for is theology which is no different from any other course. .....keep it simple. On the question : How did you know about the school. All that about cancer can cause many to roll their eyes that what that ....

In your next interview , Take the school response and toe along that line
